"It's one hundred years from today, and everyone who is listening to this is dead. I'm dead. You're dead. And some kid is taking a music course in junior high, and maybe he's listening to the Velvet Underground because he's got to write a report on classical rock'n'roll, and I wonder what that kid is thinking? I wish they would invent a machine that could find out everyone's biggest secret - yours and mine and Lou Reed's. The difference between movies and rock'n'roll is that rock'n'roll doesn't lie. It never promises a happy ending. Here comes the ending."

Unearthed footage of stripped back duo formation of Black Time having California fun during the last, desperate stand of the original black time 5 year plan. Lemmy Caution and Mr Stix still talk shit and laugh at each other, but it’s mainly just down the pub these days (well it was until they all shut anyway). Thanks to KFJC for having us and Andy Larsen for everything. Setlist: Black Time Theme / Cast A Shadow (Beat Happening) / You Make Me / (I’m In The) Fascist Bathroom / Consumers / Asleep At The Wheel / Link Wray

Just realised when logging in here that I completely spaced on posting my tedious end-of-year list at the end of 2019. I think the world will cope without it! Cannot remember all my faves from last year now but I definitely listened to this otherworldly Angel Bat Dawid LP more than any other, such a great record.

It’s very rare for us to play one show in a given year, let alone two, but this one is special. Last year our pal Chris tragically passed away way too young from a brain tumour. A constant and ever buoyant figure on the London underground rocknroll scene, Chris was always sharp, funny, and infectiously enthusiastic about the music he loved, especially the sounds emanating from Memphis, TN and bands he’d witnessed during his annual pilgrimages to Gonerfest. He’s very much missed by everyone that knew him.
Come celebrate Chris’s life and see if weve forgotten all our songs again since Stix’s birthday bash. Also on the bill - N7′s finest suedeheads, Hygiene, check out their new long-playing record, Public Sector, it’s very good. Also stand-up and a covers band playing some of Chris’s ‘popular favorites’! All this and your fiver goes to a very good cause. In the words of Bruce Roehrs: see you fucks at the bar.

Found this issue of Sight and sound in a recycle bin last week (cover image: Zardoz), providing us with an (unnecessary) impetus to plug yesterday’s crucial post on toys and techniques featuring the amazing talents of English early music champion David Munrow, who, coincidentally, composed the score for Zardoz (superb custom soundtrack available via Mounds & Circles).
