Warning: tracing art is not cool

I don’t even know where to start, because I am so disappointed in people!

So... I was in a search for good Yugioh artists, because I was interested in some commissions. And I found some great and cool art from this girl named Asuka5Ds on Deviantart. I searched through her gallery and realised that she doesn’t draw much. She has only few pieces made back in 2014, but they are all very good pieces. And when I say good, I really mean it! You have to see it! :)

However, I found something very odd with her pieces... From the ones uploaded back in 2014 and the ones she uploaded this year, there is no difference in art style or changes in her improvement. Her lines are always the same and always so flawless, so I started searching a bit more and you have to see what I found:

This is the first example. Her art from 2014 (left) and a screenshot from Yugioh 5Ds anime episode 152 (right) - that I have to flip vertically first! I am not a professional artist, but even my young eye can tell that this is just traced! Look at Yusei’s hand and see it for yourself! The picture is even cut below his hand, because the artist probably had no idea how to finish it from the waist down under. Another thing I can clearly see is that Yusei’s neck is too high and looks a bit weird; especially his collarbones that are too high compared to his shoulders.

If this has not convinced you, I am offering you few more examples:

Screenshot from the anime episode 114 (left) and Asuka5Ds’ OC Ryokuro (right) from 2020. Now this was clearly traced as far as I can see! Just look at the hand positions and his torso!

Going further:

Here I noticed that Yusei’s yellow highlights are exactly the same on both pictures! Yusei’s art (left) and Asuka5Ds’ traced copy (right). His hand on the right picture looks too big, so I guess this ‘so called yugioh artist’ just traced another screenshot for different parts of the art piece!

Here is another one of Asuka5Ds’ fake arts that are traced! In the bottom right corner you can see another screenshot from Yugioh 5Ds episode 118! Pay attention to Yusei’s yellow highlights, the angle of the face, the dark shadow below his jaw and his hair!

Now... I can go on with these examples, but I will leave you to see for yourselves!

This “artist” also has an Instagram and Twitter under the name KawaiiOsiris! I even found out that she has a Patreon page... She even has Patrons who are paying for her art and supporting her. Even though she made only 10 artworks in 6 years of her “art career”. Which leads me to conclusion: Asuka5Ds is probably just faking her art and not drawing more art, because she doesn’t have any good screenshots to trace! Her Twitter account is currently on HIATUS and my guess is: she will never draw again, because apparently she doesn’t know how!

I don’t think people know about this or are just not aware of tracing methods, but please be careful! Not every good artist is a real artist and anyone can be deceived nowadays! Especially on the internet!
