Rest in Peace Mr. Dileo

I remember the day I met Frank, at an over-priced deli on Beverly Glen. With his signature suntan, cuban cigar and dark glasses, he was polished to perfection.  He waited for her to go to the bathroom before he cut to the chase. “She’s driving you fucking nuts, isn’t she?”  

I didnt have to respond, he already knew the answer.

“Look kid, here’s what were gonna do,”  

“Here’s my number.  Call me when you get off work, we’ll figure this out.  Every things gonna be fine.  Put that away, she’s walking back to the table." 

His wink was binding.

I don’t remember what was discussed over lunch but I do remember it was entertaining.

I didn’t call him.

A few days later we went to see him at his Beverly Hills hotel.  He was in town working on Michael’s upcoming tour.  That didn’t even come up during lunch.  It was just old friends catching up over lunch….+ me.

We sat on his balcony, watched the sun set, over-looking the gorgeous hotel pool below us, that both of them have spent wayyy to many billable hours sunning at.

Not one word of our brief conversation came up, and while they were close close friends, he had my back for some weird reason.  He shot me a look on our way out.  

I called him when I got home.

The next night I came over to the hotel.  I was a little nervous but for some reason I knew that he was an upstanding gentleman of his word, with a heart of gold.

He was hilarious and caring and had big plans to help me out of my current situation. He was boggled down with Michaels tour and said he needed a few weeks.

And then Michael passed away.

I knew that loss for him was beyond comprehension. 

I will always remember Frank as a man who knows how to live life to the fullest, in class and style.  He knows what he wants and he makes the impossible happen–while bringing his friends and family along for the ride. 

My thoughts go out to his family, children, friends, The Jackson Family, and anyone who had the pleasure to know him.
