the usual things that are evidence likely won't work (I can walk in the sun due to my unique constitution, aversion to garlic can be seen as an allergy, and she clearly doesn't believe that I actually drink blood), so I'm a little stumped.

perhaps if she witnesses my speed and strength she will be more convinced? I've also been told that there is "an innate fear" that humans have for vampires, but I'm not sure how true it is.

I'm well aware. birdie likes to joke whenever she brings up something terrible that our lives are like an onion of suffering. so many layers.

I get a weird feeling in my chest whenever someone doesn't believe that I'm a vampire. I understand it logically, it's very unbelievable. but because it's tied to so much hurt, it hurts worse when I'm not believed.

were you close with your sister?

in many ways, yes. in other ways, no.

my sister took care of me as much as she could. she knew me better than I knew myself. but there was a chasm between us that was never fixed. she kept a lot to herself. I could never tell what she was thinking, but I knew when she was lying.

I have a lot of regrets when it comes to her.

how was your time in foster care?

difficult. I was lucky enough to not often experience outright abuse at the hands of my caretakers, but I would get placed at spots that had more kids than they could handle. I had to fend for myself a lot whenever my sister was placed away from me.

in the way that siblings can be cruel and mean to each other before they grow up and learn respect.

my parents weren't able to take care of us properly. I don't know the exact reason.

why is your relationship w your adoptive parents complicated?

they were good and sensible people, but they weren't a fan of my sister and her...recklessness. she was only in the home with us for about a year before she aged out of the system and left. they adopted me afterwards. they considered birdie to be their granddaughter, but my sister wasn't their daughter.
