I had the beginning and ending decided, but Natsuki suffered more than I expected to get there. The fun parts were when Yuni’s friends appeared. It was fun drawing some relaxing scenes.

Q. Are there any behind-the-scenes stories to this work?

At first, there was going to be a scene where the two of them shake hands and get into a serious fight where they beat each other up, but after I tried to draw it there was no space to include it (laughs).

Q. Please tell us a memorable episode of your daily life while writing the story!

During a meeting, the editor I was meeting with which I only had polite contact with through LINE suddenly sent me a weird character stamp. When I saw it while on the toilet I couldn’t stop shaking. I sent a ‘What is this?! This scary character?!’ I received a ‘Sorry, it was cold, my hands were numb, it was an accident’ (laughs). It was a really cold day. The editor is a really nice person, but they’ve got a lot of worrying character stamps that make you go ‘Where? Did you learn that from?’~

Q. Is there anything you’re into right now?

Listening to live commentary. I’ve also started listening to a lot of shows and radios. While working. Because it’s lonely working by myself (laughs).

Q. How are you feeling about the release right now?

A lot of things happened, and at one point I took a little break. At that time I wanted to finish drawing but didn’t know if I could, so I’m truly glad that I was able to wrap it up in a book. I’m not sure if it’s real yet though!
