Fic Finder 101
Hey y’all! I’ve gotten a lot of fic finding requests in my inbox over the past few months, (Yay!) so I'm excited to help y’all and discover/rec some great new fics in the process!
In order to make things a smidge easier on myself, I’m making this post to clarify a few things that are helpful to include when submitting a Fic Finder ask:
AO3 Only. I don't look for or read fic elsewhere (i.e. Wattpad, etc.) and am very, very familiar with their website, so I prefer to only rec fics that are posted to Archive of our Own. If you can't remember what platform you read a fic on, just know that there is a possibility that I may not be able to find it.
Details, details, details! If you can list specific dialogue, scenes, settings, plot points that stuck out to you these are all very helpful. For example, great details to include would be something like: "Oneshot Coffee Shop!AU where Pro Hero Katsuki falls in love with Quirkless Barista Izuku at first sight and asks Izuku to make him Deku's favorite drink every morning. He keeps coming back even though he hates the taste of coffee. There was a lot of fluff and pining and it had a happy ending where they moved in together. Bakugou finds out that Izuku knew he didn't like the drink the whole time and kept notes, making it a little different each day until he did."
Include your @. It is understandable that you may not want your username included in posts! However the reason I request this is so that I can message you if I am having issues finding your fic or have questions while searching for it. If you would still like your post to remain anonymous when posted, start your message with "anon please" or something along those lines and I will be sure not to include it.
Read Date. If you are able to give me a rough estimate of how long is has been since you read the fic, that is helpful for me to narrow down results.
I realize that not everyone will be able to provide everything on this list, so don't fret if your answers to most of these are "I don't know." I will still do my best to find that fic you've been looking for!

Helloooo everyone! I thought I would pop back in to give everyone an update and noticed that I have somehow amassed quite a few more followers than I expected in my time away?! Thanks for that y'all!
Now that the manga is over and everyone is turning to fic more than ever before (myself included), I will be re-dedicating time toward this blog! I am slowly compiling my (personal) best of all time list and am excited to share some incredible authors and works with you all.
If you would like to submit fics for potential recs as well, feel free to do so and I will start putting together a community favorites rec list!
Also, please note that if you’ve sent me an ask looking for a specific fic for Fic Finder, I promise I’m trying my best to find them in my free time when I am able, but it can be very difficult with limited info. Thank you for bearing with my patiently!
Despite the manga ending, the past few years I've spent in this fandom have been so wonderful, so I hope that this blog will only grow as time moves on.
I'm off to rec y'all some killer fanfic, now. <3 Bye!

Fourteen Days of My Hero Academia
Greetings, friends! The ending has been announced for beloved shounen manga My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi, and I thought it would be a nice opportunity for everyone to express their love of this amazing series! So I am posting a series of prompts for everyone if they would like to participate in this little fandom challenge.
The idea is that, on each day listed, you will create and post something with respect to the day's theme. By create, I mean whatever your heart desires. It could be a fanfic, a fanart, a fanvid, a moodboard, a diorama, a meta post, a screenshot, a poem, a drabble, a few sentences of reflection, anything really! Whatever your brain dreams up! The only requirements are that it qualifies as some sort of fan creation for MHA and that it pertains to the day's theme. The final day of the event will be the official release date of the final chapter of MHA: August 5th, 2024.
Any given day may have multiple prompts. You do not have to do all of them (unless you really, really want to), rather you may pick the one prompt that inspires you the most! And feel free to interpret each prompt however you like. For example, on day 8, you may wish to interpret "line" as a spoken piece of dialogue or as a drawn shape such as the way Horikoshi does creative paneling. On day 11, you could interpret "name" as a nickname, a code name, the kanji in a character's name, or any special meaning in a character's name. Let your imagination run wild!
You may skip out on days if you wish or need to. You may put as much or as little time and effort into this as you like. You could start working now to make some big works, or you could use this opportunity to do a little daily journal project. The sky is the limit! The goal here is to spend some time thinking about MHA before it ends and to make a collection of little fanworks for everyone to enjoy in the process!
Please tag your submissions as #14DaysofMHA (ideally as the post's first tag) so that everyone can enjoy them!
Without further ado, here are the prompt! Thank you @siflshonen for the assistance brainstorming them!
Fourteen Days of MHA Daily Prompts
Day 1 (July 23rd): Family, Home, House
Day 2 (July 24th): UA Academy, Education
Day 3 (July 25th): Weather, Light Fades to Rain
Day 4 (July 26th): The Ladies
Day 5 (July 27th): Quirk, Special Move
Day 6 (July 28th): Minor Character
Day 7 (July 29th): First Impressions, Just One Bad Day
Day 8 (July 30th): Title, Lyric, Music, Line
Day 9 (July 31st): Legacy, Story, Past, Childhood
Day 10 (August 1st): Emotion, Heart
Day 11 (August 2nd): Symbol (of), Name
Day 12 (August 3rd): Face, Smile, Humor
Day 13 (August 4th): Future, Growth, Change, Evolution
Day 14 (August 5th): Anything you want
Feel free to send asks if you need clarification on anything. I will try to edit in any new information to this original post for everyone's convenience!

What if all fanfiction writers had the same attitudes that so many readers do? What if we treated our stories like content?
Readers: I won’t read WIPs, only completed work and LONG fics.
Writers: I will only post finished works once a year, you will never see 90% of my ideas and have no part of the creative process.
Readers: I will only read works that have tons of views/kudos/bookmarks.
Writers: I won’t update unless I have interest in my story. I’ll post a new chapter for every 100 kudos, 10 comments, and 5 bookmarks.
Readers: I can do whatever I want with fanfics, sell bound copies and criticise them publicly.
Writers: I will delete my fics without warning and never share more.
This is how you end fandom culture. This is how you lose AO3 and access to so many incredible stories for FREE.
✨Fanfiction is NOT content to be consumed! It is community and creative expression. ✨

young artist posting your work online, heed my warning. im holding your face so gently in my hands, you have to stop caring about numbers right now and start caring about making the weirdest and most self-indulgent art you possibly can

This shit is so good y’all I gotta re-rec it rn.
Fic rec is first, in case you don't want any spoilers and want to just dive right in. (Although I will try to keep review spoilers at a minimum.) Just note that it is incredibly angsty in the best way.
The Night We Met - @majjale | (4/4)

"Only for you."

two sincere wishes and the ramifications of them.
Review is under the cut!
________
So, where to begin?
I have to say that I am so impressed by @majjale. The Night We Met is hands down one of the greatest pieces of writing I have had the pleasure of reading. If you're an angst-lover, then look no further. This fic is from 2018 (and completed), so I can't even begin to explain how blessed I was to stumble upon it. Not only does the story revolve around the concept of reincarnation and what it means to live forever, but it is also written from the point of view of our very own Katsuki Bakugou. Talk about angst! Could this story be more enticing?
Yes, it can!
You might think you were just getting into this for the angst, but that's where you'd be wrong. You're lured in by the staunch sincerity of Izuku and aloof defeat of Katsuki only to be pinned by the concentrated joy that underscores the happier moments they share together. The author weaves comedic moments, chance meetings, and internal monologues into a bittersweet blanket. She segues between points in time in a way that makes each sentiment Katsuki and Izuku share that much more poignant.
A striking moment of angst comes while Katsuki is trying to reconcile his desire for peace and his desire for love,
Whatever this life wants in return for Izuku knowing him, even with the trials—father, fiancé, friends — is it something Katsuki is willing to give up? What would Katsuki part with to hold Izuku again?
He blames the steam from the faucet for the condensation around his eyes.
What wouldn’t he give?
And another arrives as a tearful confession,
"I want to be why you’re happy, not why you’re alive.”
In moments like these it becomes clear that The Night We Met is lathered in angst, but not the kind that hits you like a bus in a bad rom-com. This is the kind that envelops you slowly the way ivy snakes its arms around a tree. Then, when you finally reach the end - and especially after reading the one-shot epilogue, take me back - you are left astonished, breathless.
Each chapter's end brings with it a short, sweet author's note.
"take a deep breath. in, out. that's it. it's gonna be okay."
A gentle reminder you made it through. Lungs working, heart pumping, tears falling. You feel relief and joy and sorrow. So empty and yet so full all at once.
Even days on, fleeting moments that hinge upon a simple wish will give you pause. Spotting a shooting star or cracking a wishbone. Blowing that stray eyelash off of the back of your hand. This is the kind of feeling I chase in fiction. The feeling of feeling. And few authors I have encountered have managed it so skillfully as Majjale.

Everytime I see posts like this I get filled with such profound sadness
Cause you know who has the same brainrot as you? The same unhinged feelings as you after you've read the fic? The person who always wants to scream about the fic with you?
THE PERSON WHO WROTE IT
I never used to leave comments but since I got into the habit of commenting on everything i enjoy it's been incredible. Especially when the author gets back to me about it and we get to have a discussion of what other ideas they had. One writer replied to my comment with a 5 paragraph essay detailing the Floorplan of the building the characters lived in and it was incredible
Anyways this is all to say that if you find a fic that just makes you want to scream from the rooftops, leave a comment saying that to the author and maybe they will join you and you can scream incoherently together

You guys are commenting on the fics you read right? You’re at least leaving kudos on the Astarion smut and the pairs that have less than 20 fics for them too? You’re bookmarking stories you really like that are still being updated and ones that haven’t been touched in over a year right?
You know that even the smallest interactions are like cocaine to fic writers right? You understand how important a string of emoji hearts left behind on chapter at three am is right?? Right????
You’re treating AO3 like a community and not a content factory….right?

"you have a responsibility to consider how your writing would affect other people" literally 50% of writing is manipulating the audience by setting tone and mood and drawing them in to fuck with their emotions. writers do NOTHING but consider how our writing is affecting other people and this is implying that our moral imperative is to make them feel warm and fuzzy which it is not

I just saw a Tik Tok that said writers on AO3 are not looking for constructive criticism in their reviews. I have no audience on this platform so I have to know if this is true? I've always left my pros and cons when reading a fic and now I'm concerned that the authors didn't like that.
Yeah writers are Not looking for criticism, constructive or otherwise. Unless they specifically ask for it, it’s considered rude and honestly a bit hurtful. In the least bitchy way possible, don’t do that. It’s unwanted.

Hey! So this is a super long shot but I’m looking for a fic I read eons ago and can’t find anywhere. It’s bkdk with villain bk and possibly (?) pro hero Deku. I do remember that it was omega verse, they were mated, and it was the first time either of them had seen each other in a while because Baku switched sides. Pretty sure it was either a one shot or just relatively short, but I can’t find it and it’s driving me mad. Can you help?
Hi!! Thank you for the ask! I hate it when fics get lost to memory. The one I found for you was originally posted in 2018, but it sounds like the author had removed it from the archive for a while before reuploading. Maybe this is why it’s been so hard to find!
I haven’t finished reading it, but judging from the first few paragraphs I’m fairly certain that this is the fic you’re looking for:
whatever you’ve done, just bury it - Anonymous | (3/3)
Kudos: 421 | Bookmarks: 93 | Word Count: 18,571
Tags: Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics, Vigilante Bakugou Katsuki, Pro Hero Midoriya Izuku, Alpha Bakugou Katsuki, Omega Midoriya Izuku, Angst, Scenting, Knotting, Face-Fucking, Accidental Bonding
He knows how Katsuki thinks, talks, and fights. He knows how he sleeps, how he eats, how he loves, and how he leaves. And he knows what knows what it means for Katsuki to come back; has washed the evidence from the sheets countless times, scrubbed the scent of him off his skin in the morning until it’s as red and raw as his heart.
Katsuki shoves his hands into the pockets of his joggers and tilts his chin up, eyes narrowed like he’s looking for a fight. “I’m here to share some important villain intel with the number one Hero. So, invite me to stay for dinner.”
If this isn’t it, let me know and I’ll keep digging around for you! In the meantime, enjoy!!
