God but how do you think Horatio sees wine now? Does the very sight of it draw bile to his throat, haunted by the memory of bodies strewn across Elsinore? Or does he drink nightly, wanting to poison himself slowly to make up for the poison that Hamlet wouldn鈥檛 let him drink?

Hamlet and Horatio are Orpheus and Eurydice
Hamlet is the Eurydice that begged her husband to turn around so she could see him one more time face to face. He is the Eurydice that begs to be remembered, for him to escape the Underworld she is trapped in, to bring light in the darkness
Horatio is the Orpheus that turned around out of love for his wife. He offered to stay, to return from whence she escaped, hand in hand, to death. But he is the one who plays the lyre and sings her tune. Sings it over and over again, expecting a different outcome every time, but out of love remains alive and mourning the loss of his greatest and only love. He plays the song and every time he does, Eurydice returns, and every time the song ends, she and Hamlet die once more for eternity.
