my new place is fine, kid. how many times do i have to tell you? besides, you’re the one i should be worried about. do you even have a place to sleep at that hospital? ( /myungjoo’s loud bark over the receiver nearly blows out his eardrum and sijin grimaces as he holds his phone away from his ear, kicking at a stray pebble as he walks. the weather had finally begun to edge on the warmer side, for once, and the promise of breezy spring air was all the prompting sijin had needed to head outdoors to answer myungjoo’s weekly phone call.

plopping down onto a nearby bench, he ignores myungjoo’s following stern reprimands and glances briefly at the elaborate apartment complex before him, instead – and then up to the night sky after. he had meant it when he had told her that the place was nice. ( though, really, anything would probably be better than that rickety loft he had shared in uruk. ) the complex was clean. new. the landscaping was always perfect. the security for its residents top notch. it was obvious that the commander had pulled strings to land him a flat here. sijin knows this but – eyes still trailed on the smoggy seoul sky – he can’t help but wish he was back in a place where the stars would shine and stretch out as far as his eyes could see.

suddenly, though, sijin’s attention is drawn away from the starless night sky when he feels a very distinct nudge against his shoe. brow furrowing in confusion, he leans over to investigate… – only to be met with a very small, very disgruntled looking pup who had apparently collided headfirst into the toe of his sneaker. are you even listening to me?!? myungjoo’s voice echoes loudly from the receiver and sijin grimaces again, distracted ) i, uh, i’ll have to call you back, kid. i’ll be fine. talk to you soon! ( /before myungjoo can protest, he hastily ends the call and turns his attention back to the puppy before him. it’s taken to growling at his shoe now, still clearly offended, and sijin reaches over, scratching just between the pup’s ears as he mumbles, his expression fond ) hey. if you’re gonna pick a fight, you should pick on someone your own size, you know. what’d my shoe ever do to you?

{ *BEING A YOUNG, SINGLE MOTHER WAS NOT EXACTLY AN ELEMENT joohyun’s Great Future Plan, but janggoon has entered her life regardless -- and brightened it with his appearance. he is hardly any larger than her foot, but makes up for his small statue is made up for by his larger than life personality. however, not having intended on becoming a mother ( better known as a very affectionate dog owner ) has also caused her to slip up quite some times. there have been instances of tiny dog feces around the dorm, and a neighbor’s complaint about his shrill little barks.  but she has been trying -- adapting. she’s befriended the owner of a dog café not too far from her dorm, a cheerful middle-aged lady that is very much willing to watch her little general whenever she is on the road with her girl. nonetheless today is not a very good day for Struggling Single Mother Bae Joohyun, because the moment she stepped foot outside to walk janggoon, he had wriggled his way out of his leash and taken off faster than joohyun could keep up with. ( if only she had properly ran her laps when her manager ordered her to do so. ) her heart is beating in her throat, and panic is bubbling up in the pit of her stomach. } Janggoon?? Janggoon-ah? Where are y-- { *a male voice sounds not too far from her, and it catches her attention briefly. could it be -- surely, when she looks over she sees her little man bothering a... well, bigger man. she rushes over, and resists the urge to snatch up her dog and run away. but the man sounds like he could out run her so she takes a slier approach and moves over, chiming softly. } Well, he is about the size of your shoe, so... { *she offers him an almost shy grin as she inches closer, quickly clasping her leash around the pup’s neck before she rises again. } I think he is angry you were in his way. You see, he was just escaping spree and you blocked his route. { *she lifts the young dog in her arms. } But, I guess if you apologize to him, he’ll forgive you. He has his mother’s kind heart.

Mina-yah, okay? Let’s be friendly with each other, despite the age difference.”

🌟 – A SOFT SOUND OF DISAPPROVAL LEAVES HER LIPS, AND JOOHYUN shakes her head as she gives the younger girl a gentle nudge. “They are already seeing the truth just fine, Seungwannie, everyone is just praising Red Velvet’s true visual for what she is, a beauty,” Joohyun sounds reprimanding, but the mirth in her eyes, and the smile curved on her bowed lips are enough of an indication of her playful nature.

Amusement spilled out, unable to conceal the hysterics that brewed whilst witnessing the older’s skit – no one could deny how humorous nor cute Irene was. “Oh my, oh my, oh my… Never would I call you a liar! This is just… really, really… unbelievable. Were all the commenters feeling extremely nice this day? So nice that they’ve mistaken me for some kind of beauty? Oh gosh. Eonnie, we must help them to see the truth!”

Dragging a hand haphazardly through her hair, a tiny, lop-sided smile tugged at her lips at the evident anxiety that surrounded them both through the dangers of being discovered. “Come this way, we’re near my apartment anyways.” Leaning her weight against the female as she rushed towards the apartments ahead, Soojung mumbled under her mask while her eyes curved into tiny little crescents, looking down at her elder with an unreadable expression before a quiet sigh slipped past her lips, one hand rising up to tap gently against her arm. “Or, there’s an alternative,” she offered. “Want to take a ride out of Seoul?“ 

🌟 – THE SPRING AIR IS CRISP, AND THE WIND CREEPS INTO THE FABRIC of their clothes. The prospect of Soojung’s home is pleasant, comforting. Joohyun could go for a cup of tea, and plush pillows on the sofa, the heater on to chase away the cold nestled on her skin. But she’s been trapped inside for too long, the comeback has gotten her used to confinement, and like a bird she is ready to spread her wings now.

She gives Soojung’s hand a light squeeze, her eyes dancing with an adventurous mirth. “You know what I think a ride out of Seoul is exactly what I need right now. Do you have a specific place in mind you want to go to?”

( ♡ ` laughs softly. ) It is not a problem, I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the day. As for myself, all is well – I’ve been busier than ever since December of last year! Schedules are becoming a bit more hectic but I’m not overwhelmed, thankfully. A lot of things are happening and I am happy to share it all with everyone.
