if we're being honest fatphobia and fascism have a lot more interdependence than people give it credit for. for all the jokes we make about people changing personalities when they're hungry, we never seem to make the connection about why every single bigot you know is fatphobic. you can't be empathetic when you're lacking the most basic, basic thing we need to survive. your brain, when you're hungry, is thinking it's going to die. that makes people act worse in general. its why cults thrive on scarcity. its why religions love to advocate for food restriction rules and encourage starvation as a way to get closer to your deity. you cannot be logical when hungry. you cannot think beyond anything other than how shitty life is in that moment and how you're going to get enough food to survive. we really need to address fatphobia if we have any chance of dismantling oppressive systems.
