Pros of re-reading your own fic
a good time;
Has exactly the tropes you like and the characterization you want to read;
Gratification: yes you did finish a thing and yes you did do good;
just a very fun time all around.
Cons of re-reading your own fic:
Is that another TYpO

so yesterday i had to get up in the middle of the night to catch a few scenes and I'm not kidding I'm writing this. why was it in the middle of the night you ask i have no idea
so yea I dunno where I saw it, but that fake dating au along the lines of
I'm taking you as my (fake) date to a family event because you're the type of person my parents would Absolutely Despise and I don't want to be invited to a family event ever again
that's tensemi. Right there. I can imagine either of them approaching the other like “You. You are the menace that will irritate my parents off into outter space” and the other one's like ‘Kay
#continuation of the draft is questionable. but possible#i should be focusing on other things but alas#tensemi#(if anyone has ideas or wants to know more hmu i would love a discussion)

(maybe ennoshita stayed behind to practice with him since Kagayama asked, Hinata going home early bc he needed to help at home with something (maybe promised Natsu he’d be early for once for some reason) and everyone else went home just a little before)
Kageyama stops and is like “can we talk, maybe?”
and Ennoshita nods and doesn’t voice his thoughts about how everyone else somehow probably sensed this and left early.
Ennoshita somehow manages to steer Kageyama to sit near the podium, and they end up more in the corner. He supposes it’s better than standing. It takes for a while before they get to the problem.
“Like volleyball, that’s good, that’s…” Kageyama’s voice is shaky, before it fully breaks, “but the rest-” and he’s crying.
Ennoshita first has to process. Then he sits down opposite Kageyama and does a soothing shh, wondering how exactly did he get there. (He isn’t sure if touching Kageyama will spook him further, not until he’s figured out what the problem is.) He contemplates what could be the problem, and the recent news pop in mind.
“You’re worried about being vice-captain?”
Kageyama nods. Ennoshita isn’t even sure he’s breathing, and so they first deal with that. He sort of wishes Yachi or some equally qualified Kageyama-handler was there, but when Kageyama matches his breathing to his, and slowly seems to get down from the worst, Ennoshita tries to believe he’s got this. He has to.
“See, I was becoming captain last year. And everyone was so sure of it—and I suppose, by the start of third year, I was sort of too.” Ennoshita swallowed. “But you know, the words you’ll gain experience are nice. And true, it’s very true. But still, I was so worried about the before that…”
Ennoshita doesn’t finish, but Kageyama thinks he understands. It’s as if someone took his feelings and displayed them on the wall, playing with strings and connections until the complex map was coherent enough to say aloud.
“Before you get to the point of having experience,” Ennoshita continues, “you always sort of… stumble. Poke about.”
“Because you’re always learning,” Kageyama mumbles.
“Sure.” Ennoshita smiles again.
“But what if I’m a bad vice-captain.”
“Nobody expects you to be the best right of the bat.”
Hinata does, hangs in the air between them, just before Kageyama says it.
“Hinata does.”
Ennoshita nods to agree with what Kageyama voiced. “And you’ll get there. Eventually. But before that, it’s alright to just… be.”
Kageyama looks at him, lost and hopeful all at once, as if he didn’t believe that.
“You want to move the team forward. That’s a very good mindset to have.”
Kageyama nods. The coach has told him that, too.
“You’ll figure it out eventually. It’s alright to be nervous, though.”
Kageyama nods. He is still crying.
Ennoshita shuffles next to him, leaning against him the minimal amount necessary to say I’m here. It’s alright.
Everyone is long gone. They have yet to lock up the gym. They both need to get up early tomorrow.
Ennoshita stays put before Kageyama shuffles away to get up.
Somehow Ennoshita knows that Kageyama will do just alright.
Someone else can write this scene i've got something in my head but it's just a jumble of thoughts about the two of them.
#this sat in my drafts forever. as is typical#i am not sure if its in character because i can't quite imagine kageyama crying#but it does fit the picture so there you go paige. i tried.#i feel like if kageyama talked to hinata about this#hinata would be like wdym. you're already the best. why do you think anyone puts up with u#yeah

ennofuta fic where they are starting to date in their third year and Noya and Tanaka find out Ennoshita has been on a date (...Many Dates? WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T TELL US CHIKARA) (Ennoshita Refuses to tell them who it is he's dating. they speculate about random girls they see him talk to. he does not comment on this) and then during a practice match somehow they get to the topic of which captain is better (maybe Futakuchi is showing off to Ennoshita and the two interpret it as a challenge obviously) and Tanaka and Noya being Tanaka and Noya are like well Our Captain has got Mad Game he's been on So Many Dates and has the Best girlfriend obviously
And Futakuchi is just sorta staring and standing perfectly still, torn between blushing and pointing out first that no. not a girlfriend. yea the best. i know all that already I've been there bitch.
Ennoshita casually walks past like Have you two started on your homework yet? which Tanaka and Noya being Tanaka and Noya did, in fact, not.
#i just think that'd be funny#ennofuta#ennoshita chikara#futakuchi kenji#tanaka ryunosuke#nishinoya yuu#haikyuu!!#hq!!

was thinking a lot about the end of S3, where Tendou and Ushijima are stretching and Tendou, in the past tense, tells him that he "will brag about having been best buds back in the day," and I think about what we know about Tendou, and Ushi, and how Tendo had probably never had a best friend before then, had probably fallen into it by accident and found himself swept away by someone with such a resolute simplicity to his friendship-making that even all of Tendou's weird tendencies, offputing jokes or niche interests still made the cut. How Tendo had, probably, looked at the end of his volleyball career as the end of his first and his last best friendship, because Ushijima is overt about wanting to go pro and surely, surely, being his closest friend is a case of convenience, where they are in the same dorms, the same classes, the same gym. When Tendo is no longer standing beside him, someone of Ushijima's disposition will probably just look to whoever is standing there instead. Tendou thinks will complete confidence that they will not keep in touch after graduation, he thinks Ushijima is bound for glory and does not see himself worthy of a position at his side. I wonder if he kept thinking this while they were packing their bags. While Ushijima was celebrating his acceptance into a French school with him, while he was hugging him crushingly tight goodbye in the airport. I wonder if he still thought that it was an inevitable future when Ushijima was calling him after practice and making time for messages despite the time zones. I wonder if there was ever a specific point in which Tendo realizes that it was not some playful joke, that when Ushijima had returned the sentiment and called him his best friend, he had meant it with his whole heart, the same ferocity used to dominant a volleyball court turned into tenacity in the face of a long-distance relationship, a refusal to let go of his first and last best friendship. I wonder if Tendou in high school, who admires Ushijima so much, could ever have convinced himself that that same Ushijima holds so much admiration for him in return that he would fly across the world to meet him in Paris just to tell the world that they were best friends on international television.

tsukishima from haikyuu is really funny because haikyuu is a sports anime, and with every other character they're like fuck yea. i'm in a sports anime. but tsukki has to be dragged kicking and screaming into accepting that his life is a sports anime. get powered of friendshipped and teamworked, idiot.

Been hearing this is a problem again. Don't be a dick in bookmarks, folks. And yes while I made this image, I'm giving free reign. Take it. Spread it far and wide. Because I'm hearing that some readers don't know that their bookmarks are visible.

If you ever feel like you don't contribute to fandom because you "only" comment—
A regular serial commenter just joined a fandom Discord server I'm on and people are coming out of the woodwork to thank her for her service to the fandom, expressing how much joy her comments on their works bring them.
Remember—they're never only comments.
