A place specifically for home records, recipes, and realizations. Eventually I will move everything to a physical journal but most of what we own is still in boxes. Lurelurk is my main account.

Yes winter is important.
But my brain is demanding more green.
It's hard because the last frost warning is in May.
Resisting the urge to start new seedlings.

Terrible storms this December.

Finally a warm day when it isn't a torrential downpour with 40 mph winds. All of the kindling is sufficiently drenched. Starting the fire with no dry wood and no dry kindling was infuriating. We've had a week of below freezing and not many options for daylight stick hoarding. Three hours later things look ok, aside from the snow/freezing rain patches today. It's supposed to be incredibly cold and very wet for the rest of the week.

Remember the tree lines.
Sheets and sheets of ice, all four wheels and the crumple of the remainder of fall.
Firewood and firewood and ash.
Floors covered in newspaper and soot. Sleeping warm under comforter and quilt and beside.
Plastic on the windows.
Fiberglass in my sleeves.

The positive of carving a pumpkin too early in the season is that you get to do it again.
