I gotta say I'm obsessed with what Luffy does to the typical "sunshine" character trope, in that he's an exception to the usual portrayal but perhaps the most true to it of anyone. He's not "sunshine" as in pure niceness and sweetness and innocence. He's sunshine as in The Sun.
He's joy and light and warmth, illuminating all the beauty of the world, but he's also powerful enough to kill and blind and burn. He's an everyday annoyance. He's the strongest force of nature that exists. His happiness shines bright for miles. So does his rage. You could look at him wrong and be screwed up for life. You never want to live without him.
I can't get over this.

Lotta stuff in canon and fanon about Zoro being wild and brutish and violent and it's not untrue depending on the circumstances but I feel like he doesn't get enough credit for how often he's actually gentle, calm, and even altruistic. He's not just sort of working toward his goal without causing too much harm to innocent parties; he goes out of his way to do good even to his own detriment, and that's how we're introduced to him in the first place. Luffy doesn't pick people for his crew that aren't kind, and Zoro is a prime example of that even if he's not flashy or conventionally polite about it.

something I keep circling around with dandadan is like. the sort of omnipresent miasma of sexual violence that seems to pervade the character’s lives? and it’s interesting bc even when you get introduced to the guy who would traditionally be the sex pest of the manga, the weirdest thing he ever does is make middle schooler off color jokes bc he thinks that’s why girls like okarun. the sexual violence is always something external to these characters that even the boys aren’t really safe from - ffs half the manga up to this point is about the theft of okarun’s balls, which while funny is ultimately a result of turbo granny assaulting him and eating his goddamn dick. and as much as it comes off as fanservice sometimes (the girls stripping to fight in the water comes to mind) these scenes just as often are genuinely unsettling and scary. idk it’s just interesting to me bc it comes up over and over again (most recently w/kouki and the naked pictures used as blackmail) while also being something the characters themselves rarely engage with after the fact beyond joking.

I really do like when Sanji is written that he adores women, puts them on a pedestal, doesnt fight them not because he thinks women are weak but because he genuinely truely thinks that if a woman wants to hit you then you deserve to be hit.
And Sanji hides away any part of himself he thinks is feminine, because he sees women as lovely and wonderful and deserving love and kindness - but he doesnt believe any of that about himself

To all the people watching Dandadan and not sure why Seiko doesn’t actually look like a granny, just know that even manga readers don’t know yet. I’ve seen a lot of posts making Seiko look older and more like a grandma which I 100% appreciate, but also I think it’s a disservice to the writing to treat Seiko’s looks like simple fan service. There has to be more backstory, such as how we get from this:

In the space of like, a decade. Also note how her face is never shown in Chapter 1 when she’s wearing more traditional shrine clothes. Clearly something is up (fingers crossed that the new arc explains some of this actually). Maybe she’s Benjamin Buttoning, maybe she’s using magic, maybe she’s a time traveler - who knows with this manga tbh

Explicit - 13 Chapters; 93,000 words
Felt the need to flesh out the school life aspects of JJK a bit more and explore an idea for a cursed technique I had via an original character (Ayame Arai). What started out as being horny for Nanami suddenly turned into something a lot more expansive. Her role is as canon-compliant as I could make it and this work contains a lot of philosophizing about the world of JJK. Watch as our protagonist attempts to provide a quality education for her adopted children (I mean, students) in the midst of trauma, exploitation, constant sensory overload, and her own life choices.

I’m honestly surprised I haven’t seen more theories about Jeeves and Damian’s (potentially biological) relationship. They look like they could be brothers, just as much as he and Demetrius:
Tumblr media
Damian obviously takes after his mother, but Jeeves has many of the same traits as well - dark hair, thinner eyes, bigger irises. He’s also quite parental with Damian (in a different, more brotherly or intimate way than what we see with Martha and Becky) and unusually close to Melinda.
My current theory is that he’s either Melinda’s brother or he’s Damian’s actual father. The latter of which being a world-shattering revelation for this story. Not 100% sure which I like more, through I’m probably leaning towards uncle. Desmond being Damian’s father certainly fits with the “family is what you create and love, regardless of parentage” theme. Jeeves being his uncle creates a Yor/Yuri parallel, implies Melinda is from a lower social status, and gives Desmond leverage over her. However, Jeeves being his father opens up the “fake families” and “everyone has secrets” theme more while presenting a major obstacle for the mission. Operation Strix being built entirely on a lie would be a spicy plotline

Bonus: Jeeves smiling at Damian just like Loid does when they both are trying to assure him that Desmond loves him

I've seen quite a few people complaining about the first episode of DanDaDan and claiming it "sexualized Momo", "was too freakish" and "the SA scene wasn't necessary".
As if... That wasn't... The whole fucking point.
I actually appreciate the freakish alien SA scene. It of course has layers of comedy because this thing never stops being a romantic comedy with freakish and shonen shit, but that doesn't make it any less good of a representation.
It's almost as if Momo's first interactions with men weren't her being treated like shit or as an object as a juxtaposition with the way Okarun treats her... Gyaru's and other japanese subcultures have been hypersexualized over the years. Women get kidnapped and raped every fucking day. Do you expect the fucked up aliens to do it in a respectful, pretty way? Do we just cut to the next scene and miss the whole fucking point about Momo saving herself without Okarun's powers, but hers? I get that the animation is gorgeous and all but that doesn't make Momo look sexualized in any way. Wow! A girl in her underwear because she's about to get SA! I wonder what the author might mean by this! I'm sure he's trying to sexualize her instead of using it as a plot device and development for her character! (That last part was sarcasm, btw).
I can't believe I'm here explaining this.
I guess I just like the fact that Momo goes from dating a jerk and being kidnapped to be SA to falling for a normal guy who respects her boundaries and treats her like a human being and they don't make a huge deal about him being decent to her. Call me crazy, but maybe the whole "I won't let anyone hurt her" scene was necessary for both characters.
Also, the whole show is about a guy losing his dick and getting it back so I think there's gonna be some nudity involved and the fact that people can't handle it probably means it's their own problem. Skill issue.
