Guilt
The guilt is eating her alive.
She feels fucking terrible right now.
She could've done something better. She could've brought him to the vet instead of letting him suffer in pain and die slowly.
She feel fucking useless now.
The world she had seems crumble right there and then. She doesn't have anywhere to go, or destination. The world seems bleak. She doesn't see any reason to live.
Maybe she should be the one who dies slowly and painfully.
Rest in peace, Bubu. I'm sorry I've been a terrible butler for you.

Distraction
The buzzing sound of hair shaving machine can be heard through the silence of the bathroom.
She looks at the mirror, at someone standing across of her whose face is indecipherable. That someone one the mirror has empty blood shot eyes. They look miserable and sad, perhaps tired and worn out too. A painful smirk lays on her face, maybe judging her next stupid decision.
The buzzing sound echoes in there, filling the place with the sound that's too loud for a small bathroom.
So she starts. From the crown of his head, to the back of his neck. Slowly making a line for the machine to shave her hair. She does that repeatedly until nothing left to cut. She doesn't bother to trim it well, or set it into nice model. She only needs a distraction from the numbness she felt.
She looks back at the mirror again. That someone on the mirror is bald now. Well, not completely. There's like 1 or 2 cm of thin hair there, but still. The eyes still hold the same misery, but there's also a glint of relief there.
She survived another day without fresh scars on her thigh.

ouch
he slipped a cigarette between his lips and proceed to light it with the lighter.
"mind if i smoke?" he asked.
there's a moment of silence before he answered. at the end, he only gave him a small nod. who is he to forbid him from doing things he usually did.
he inhaled that cancer stick and exhaled the smoke to the other side.
"you know, i asked her out yesterday."
*oh.*
another silence. he didn't know how to answer that. he silently prayed that he wouldn't notice there's a pause before he finally said,
"oh, good for you then. and her answer is?"
"of course she said yes, we are dating now."
*ouch.*
"well, congrats! i hope this one will last longer than your previous relationship."
he said that instead, tried to be nonchalant about it, tried not to be affected by his words and how it slowly killing him.
"thanks," he replied with small smile on that gorgeous face.
and that's his cue to set the boundary between them, to give a little distance so his heart would heal eventually.

blanket fort
strong sturdy arms wrapping the smaller one from the back, engulfing him in warmth, giving him a strange sense of comfort, and protecting him from the evil of this world.
his head snuggles closer to the smaller one's neck, pampering light kisses and tender touches. he whispers sweet nothings to his ear and those words evaporate to the silence surrounding them.
he lets out small giggles. his hands grab those arms to hug him tighter, removing the non-existent gap between them. his fingers dance on the surface, tracing the constellations on his skin. and his eyes closing, feeling the sensation of all his senses come to life.
and that's what they do. cuddling together under the blanket, sharing heat through skin to skin, hiding from the cruel world outside the door.
because the world is judgmental and this is their safe haven.
