Edelgard vs. Seteth on Surrender

Seteth and Rhea are such self righteous hypocrites at every turn in FE3H, it honestly baffles me how much the fandom takes their word and lets them skate on very sinister actions because Edelgard has more traditional villain signifiers.

The game gives you a direct comparison of Seteth, who is allegedly more reasonable than Rhea, and Edelgard on the treatment of enemies. Seteth outright saying she needs to die for not "bending to the church's will" demonstrates the exact reason Edelgard fought the church.

They claim multiple times to stand for mercy and peace but numerous times in the game the church whether headed by Rhea or Seteth will kill captured enemies without a trial, refuse to allow retreats, do not allow cities' to evacuate, and outright arrest and execute non-combatants.

Some of these Edelgard is also guilty of, of course, but then, she never claimed to be the peaceful and benevolent representative of an all-knowing deity.
