dustin was mid rant about the sword narsil from lord of the rings, animatedly waving around a pringles tube like it was the blade that cut the ring from sauron’s hand.

“narsil shattered in the second age during the battle with sauron,” he proclaimed, “and it was reforged as andúril in return of the king and- ”

“actually,” billy cut in, casually twisting the sides of a rubix cube up and down without looking up, “it was reforged in fellowship of the ring. aragon carries it throughout the journey.”

silence.

mike’s mouth hung open. lucas and will blinked in disbelief at one other. dustin froze, pringles tube mid air. even el tilted her head.

“YOU... read tolkien?” dustin whispered, somewhere between awe and mild betrayal.

billy shrugged like he’d just commented on the weather. “what? guy’s prose is tight. andúril literally means ‘flame of the west’. pretty badass.”

“bitchin!”

max, leaning against the counter with a juice box, rolled her eyes so hard you could practically hear them orbit. “he read the silmarillion for fun last summer. get over it.”

steve, standing off to the side, tried and failed to hide the proud grin stretching across his face. “my man,” nudging billy’s shoulder.

billy just smirked, still twisting at the cube, and leaned back like he hadn’t just reset the hawkin’s nerd hierarchy.

I honestly wish I could post more about Billy but it's so difficult for me to get the motivation or ideas sometimes. I don't know what people want to see and I doubt it's what I want to post but honestly I really do just want to post anything about Billy at this point.

He would absolutely be teaching them how to lift to increase muscle mass.

And styling them?? Showing the guy that it's not just the clothes but how he holds himself.

He's just such a dude, you know? I use to hate him. I used to REALLY hate him. But I read all of these posts that billy stans made and I was like damn... they have some points.

Anyway now I have such a platonic affection for him. I wish I could be there in the way he needed. He was alone and abused with no one to look out for him and show him he was loved. He needed someone who recognized he wasn't himself sooner. He needed someone to help him get through Vecna's possession.

He needed someone. Maybe romantically, sure, but literally anyone who put some effort into seeing past his tough exterior.

He's tossing and turning in bed. Why the hell can't he sleep? He's out of the house, the doors are locked on his side. There's a gun in the drawer. But no. First night in his new place, and Billy can't shut his eyes and pass out.

He gets up and stumbles to the kitchen. If he can't sleep, he might as well keep unpacking, right? There wasn't too much to take from his old room; his apartment was still bare bones. He needed to set up his record player, though. Maybe that would get him tired enough to go to bed.

Two hours and an entire Ride The Lightening listen later, Billy was still awake and incredibly peeved. What the hell was it going to take?! He stomped back to his room, crashed onto his bed, and groaned.

What would it take....

He looked to his left and stared at the phone on his bedside table.

He was just a phone call away, wasn't he?

No, it was too late for that crap.

Too late for a lot of things. Especially a stupid phone call–

"Hello?" Said the voice from the other line.

"Hey. It's Billy."
