Without actually retconing, how would you go about writing spamvil. Even if your timeline is wobbly, what's the basic rundown (Love your work 🔥❤️)

Talking a little about it under the cut.

SO generally, my thinking was along these lines, which is the "canon" timeline as far as we know. For the time being I'm ignoring the current unsolved phenomenon of the Dark Worlds existing and having established lore before the fountains are created. This is going to be my current "canon" timeline with no flourishes for flavor.

Tenna forms TV World out of the "purple cliffs/metal desert". Tenna registers as far older than any of the other Darkners, which makes sense considering he probably existed in the Dreemurr household before Asriel and Kris were born. Tenna is the unifying force in the living room and TV World and he starts to forge his own identity. I estimate that down the line Spamton took way more influence from Tenna and his existing "brand" than Tenna did from him, but it's hard to say.

Jevil meets the mysterious stranger and is told the "secret" that later down the line leads to his imprisonment. He doesn't immediately go off the deep end, as indicated by Seam being told uncomfortable and "nonsensical" things by him, plus his presence in Cyber City. He's acting as a follower of the corrupting force for a while, not necessarily "stable" but also not enough of a threat to merit the imprisonment.

Spamton meets the mysterious stranger on the phone and starts having financial success. This success is enough to propel him into renown and influence, which leads him to land a room in the mansion. Spamton meets Swatch and considers him to be a "friend", though I feel like it was Spamton projecting friendship and Swatch having a regular professional relationship.

Spamton meets Jevil, meets Mike, and meets Tenna. Right now we don't have enough information to know which one comes first, but a lot of Spamton's visual and leitmotif identity comes from/is reflected in TV World related themes. Jevil was definitely present in the Mansion, and Spamton and Jevil's connection to the mysterious someone ties them together directly. At this time, Jevil meets Tasque Manager also.

Spamton has a falling out with the Addisons. Having obtained the success he so greatly wanted, Spamton at a point equals the Addisons, but then considers that he's surpassed them. Though the Addisons all have transactional relationships between each other, Spamton was from the beginning "othered", and having success didn't bridge that gap or make the relationship more authentic. Through it all, both the Addisons and Spamton have deep down affection for each other.

Spamton and Jevil have a falling out. People can deny if there was ever a "good" period in their relationship, but there was a significant point where it soured and Jevil became one of the people that Spamton despises. If we're to believe the Spamton Sweepstakes, Spamton and Jevil used to play games often, and even though Spamton would cheat he would never win. With the JOKER'S Bet, we know Jevil also likes gambling, which is probably among the games he played with Spamton. Additionally, knowing the way Spamton operates, all of the people he currently hates are people he formerly had a positive relationship with, or admired in some form. With Jevil in particular, Jevil doesn't have prestige/fame to take advantage of, but what he does have according to Spamton is freedom. Spamton considers Jevil's power and position to be higher than his, just that he's squandering it by not aiming higher. (SOON I'LL EVEN SURPASS THAT DAMNED [[Clown Around Town!]] BUT UNLIKE HIM I'M GONNA [[Shoot For the Sky!]] AND GET ON THE PATH TO ...) Back to the point, they have one final event that leads to Jevil leaving Cyber City and never returning. Spamton starts his classic cycle of using Jevil as a marker of success and hating him simultaneously.

Spamton and Tenna have a falling out. It seemed like Spamton was about to tell Tenna his secret, and by "coincidence" gets the call that marks the downturn of his career. Spamton leaves TV World and never returns, leaving Tenna to become embittered over the years and feeling abandoned/used.

Jevil is imprisoned. He finally does whatever it is he did to get locked up (extremely likely KILLING !!) and is locked away by Seam. I believe this happened after there was a final rupture between him and Spamton, after there's no reason for him

Spamton and Queen/Swatch have a falling out. Spamton becomes obsessed with the NEO body in the basement as a potential way to save from the fact his business is crumbling from his hands. Spamton starts to see both Queen and Swatch as obstacles, limiting factors keeping him down.

Spamton is kicked from the Mansion. Spamton's failures and erratic behavior leads to him being booted out with his furniture thrown in the trash. Either he was in contact with the mystery caller the whole time (as the blue Addison reports there was a voice on the line of the phone), or it was a final call.

Dealer's choice of how Spamton becomes puppetified. Spamton now is unrecognizable to the people who knew him. He looks so jacked up that Tenna doesn't even recognize him as a sapient being anymore, so SOMETHING happens to make him go from looking to a normal Addison ( ONCE I WAS LIKE THEM, JUST [A little shorter than the others]. ) to being a [Long-Nosed Doll]. His misery never stops increasing at this point, and he takes comfort in blaming everyone in his life for his downfall.

Jevil constructs the narrative that the outside world is the cage. He had already "lost his sanity" by whatever had locked him up, but his time in complete isolation create the worldview that he's the only one free. His thinking becomes inflexible, erratic, and he loses track of time.

That's about it!

Now, if we're talking about my Spamvil Truther narrative, I'm running two thought patterns. One adheres to this one pretty faithfully, where there's a lot of flexibility for future chapters, especially with the big one: WHO THE HELL IS MIKE? The other one is where I sprinkle in some 'i have been thinking about this almost constantly for four years' flavor.

The basic premise is that Jevil and Spamton shared a connection being on the same "side", Jevil being the one that Spamton never had to pretend to be anyone around. Jevil already knows that his success is artificial, even if he doesn't say it directly and Spamton refuses to admit it. This runs contrary to how Spamton interacts with other people, in that his relationships are based solely on who is beneath him and who he needs to surpass, with the added element of big shot Spamton being a role he's stepping into.

I don't want to just become a Spamtenna contrarian, but I've already said my reasons why I think the relationship is more one-sided than a certainty, and if the relationship existed on a romantic level I don't think it'd be exactly healthy for either of them. In this timeline, it is worth mentioning because I think it DID exist, in that Tenna represented an advantageous relationship for Spamton in terms of his success, image, and sustained relevancy, much in the way Tenna would have thought of it initially. Difference being Spamton wasn't as invested emotionally in the relationship and had to pretend to be something he wasn't and the image of him in Tenna's mind only showed cracks of Spamton's true personality.

I think that Spamton and Jevil had a friendly relationship, that lead into yearning on both of their parts that never got acted on, then everything went crashing down. Jevil disappearing from his life was a cut thread to a potential way out for both of them, two outsiders forming a genuine connection based on mutual appreciation, and he was left only with Tenna as the 'way out'. Jevil leaving and never coming back confirmed in Spamton's mind a burned bridge, which is later what happened with him and Tenna.

Spamton caving and telling Tenna his secret was more out of a lack of options than an act of complete trust. I kind of love the idea of Spamton in this relationship with Tenna but nothing feels right or natural, while on the other hand he had fleetingly had something that excited him with Jevil that, in the end, soured just as badly. The basic point in time is from when Spamton meets Jevil initially to until they have their falling out.

TL;DR: Jevil and Spamton Big Shot Era Dirty Little Secret AMV.

For the sake of canon consistency I think it's safe to assume a lot of the relationship plays out later when they reunite, once they've already hit their "rock bottom" moments and the Fun Gang opens a new chapter in their lives. The idea of missed time, lost opportunities, and revelations they refuse to acknowledge adds a lot of Flavor.

Ok so this is gonna be very random and weird and I'm not even expecting to get a reply out of this but I just reallyyy needed to get this off my chest and stuff. So like I LOVE YOUR STUFF SOOOOOO MUCHHH I can't even begin to describe how much happiness and inspiration seeing your art and yk your profile in general has brought me through all this years (I think years yeah?). Like I'm so serious whenever I'm having a bad time or something I literally scroll down your profile even for hours on end. and don't get me started on how happy I am to see someone who still ships spamvil and just continues to create such amazing and thoughtgul content of them. All those sketches that magically turned into fully colored and polished masterpieces, all those paragraphs analyzing relationships dynamics and god knows what, those AMAZING tags under every post and your reblogs YOUR REBLOGS. Like seriously HOW do you simultaneously make AND find such cool stuff???? Do you have like a secret gold mine where you find all those beautiful posts?? I'm just so thankful to have ran into your stuff yk? Idk how to explain it but it just makes me happy like nothing else does, especially cause this whole year I've been having awful very awful art block and I'm like very much not creative at all as a person so you're so cool to me for everything. Also I don't even need to mention this but the way you draw spamton and jevil is like divine like I'm so speechless seriously and it's not just the way you draw them it's the way you depict their character and their relationship so well altogether!! going to throw thoughts under the cut for Interested Parties

i DO fully know what you mean about the spamtenna wave, but quite honestly the way i think of it, i'm just going to keep doing what i'm doing, even if spamvil is seen as even more of a "crackship" than it already was in the past. quite honestly even years ago people were putting spamvil fans up on the cross for no reason and i'm just keeping with my cockroach like tenacity of sticking to my guns.

SO about the Spamton and Tenna relationship, from what we know in canon was that there WAS a period of good times in their past, a time where "their smiles seemed so bright...", but I think the room itself and the poster can alone speak a lot about what we know about Big Shot Spamton, considering the only other "faithful" depiction of him in-game is the Cungadero ad. He lives through his perfect photoshoots, manicured and manufactured images of success and prestige, but we know it's a lie, we know there's someone putting their thumb on the scale and helping him along. Tenna does not, Tenna sees a potential business partner, someone to strive to be, someone to admire. That poster to him represents happy times, a beautiful glimmering past that he wishes he could preserve, now in this wrecked room that time has made an unhealed wound.

Spamton, the way I think of it, would approach Tenna as an accessory to his own success, a status symbol, and a potential person to manipulate. He knows he didn't make it to where he was by his own merit, so he's trying to leech off of the qualities that made Tenna appealing to not only other Darkners (Tenna having the charisma and pull to create the TV World out of the purple wastelands) but to command the attention of Lightners. Just as Spamton is trying to extract as much value from Tenna, Tenna himself fears aging out of usefulness and wants to know how Spamton became so successful. I do think though, that on Tenna's part, he is coming from a place of genuine admiration and trust, whereas Spamton from the beginning saw Tenna as a stepping stone, just as he does everyone else.

Initially, I see their partnership going off well, communicating a lot, going on rides together, talking together, it all feels like big things are coming. Spamton slowly appropriates things from Tenna, Tenna appropriates things from Spamton, to the point where us as players have difficulty figuring out what quirk or character detail came from who. But occasionally, the cracks start showing, with Spamton coming off as a little too controlling, his jokes a little too dark, his actions showing a lack of concern for any consequence. Tenna, unfortunately, is already on his hook. I can't fight against the Spamtenna narrative that Tenna had a crush on him, or even if something existed between them, but I feel fairly confident in thinking that it was far more one-sided on Spamton's part even if there was something there.

To elaborate a little, this could just be me Coping, but a lot of the 'slam dunk' spamtenna stuff comes from Tenna's part and not Spamton, and the Valentine cards that reference Tenna on Spamton's part aren't exactly indicative of a functional dynamic.

This one references Tenna's lines, and if it's directed at Tenna (though it probably is directed at us as the e-mail recipients instead of Tenna, just using his words) it's using an emotional connection to manipulate him for his own gains, pretty standard Spamton stuff.

This one, referencing South of the Border (song that plays on the Tropic of Love) mentions the relationship "going south", meaning that even if Tenna associates that song with the Tropic of Love, Spamton has a negative association with it.

Finally, the Wedding Ring page that links to d_a_m_n_y_o_u_t_e_n_n_a shows animosity towards Tenna, not showing affect for him, but at the bottom of the page you can highlight that he actually regrets how his relationship turned out with Mike, not yearning for reconciliation with Tenna. It isn't exactly a Spamvil win of course but it makes me think that his relationship with Tenna was far more transactional than it was affective, at least on the part of Spamton. I've already headcanoned that Spamton had fleeting relationships with other people during the Big Shot era as an expression of his new status, them being expressions of his success.

This isn't to say that Spamton isn't without his own feelings and insecurities and his struggles, he would have extreme fear of expressing genuine emotion with anyone. Admitting and allowing a weakness for someone who's set out to Win Capitalism is even worse than failure itself, it's the hope that he can claw back to the top that keeps him going during the days after his downfall. I can see him having a fondness for Tenna as a friend, but if the relationship existed I could see Spamton going through the motions because it's the most "advantageous" thing to do, privately questioning why it doesn't actually feel right to him. And coming from my Spamvil poisoned perspective, I don't think Jevil would particularly mind the relationship existing, my Big Shot Era headcanon was that they didn't actually get together romantically during that time, but the seeds for it were planted before Jevil got locked away.

Just a personal thing, I think the Spamton and Tenna dynamic after CH3 would be kind of fraught, for the same reason it'd be difficult to salvage Spamton's image among other Darkners. What he did to the "lightner's dream" to get his Spamton NEO form was particularly appalling to Swatch (previously referred to as a friend by Spamton under [Easels] in the ' * WE DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE!!! WE DON'T NEED [[Easels]] or [[CRTs]]!' line) and even to Seam, who one would expect to be more emotionally checked out. Tenna differs ENORMOUSLY from Spamton in that he's actually experienced the positives of being in a family and from having genuine, non-transactional friendships, and centers his role to Lightners as a pillar of identity. Not that Tenna is without his negative and darker side, but comparing how low they're willing to sink, Spamton would do anything, Tenna has much harder limits. Learning what Spamton did would be a hard blow to existing goodwill, it'd definitely be something to have to work through.

Quite honestly, not sure if it's controversial or anything, but Mettatenna makes more sense to me in terms of Tenna's growth, in that he moves on from negatively fixating on Spamton and his idealized vision of the Dreemurr house during his golden days to gaining new experiences in the ghost house. To me it symbolizes not romanticizing a past that hurt him and forging new memories, something that I see in Spamvil. Jevil exists as a boogeyman in Spamton's head for his strength, not for his fame or pull. I always think that while Spamton has to wear a mask with Tenna or with anyone else, there's nothing Jevil particularly expects from him, he finds Spamton in himself entertaining as a novelty at first, and then as someone who's a funhouse mirror of his own experiences. For me, Spamton and Jevil having a relationship accepts moving forward and moving past preconceptions in a way that comforts each other, neither of them have to pretend to be anything to fall into lockstep.

I hope this somewhat answered your question, LOL. I left out a lot of detail because I don't want to overwhelm you, but this is generally my thoughts on it. TL;DR: Spamton and Tenna's dynamic adds flavoring to Spamvil, I continue to live my life peacefully and happily.
