Continuation from this beautiful piece written by @cheshire-shuntaro. I love you, I love this AU and I'm so glad we got your writing back.
'What is it?'
Tears, leaving her eyes like waterfalls and ruining the beautiful makeup she was wearing, the work of artists hired by Takeru to make sure she was the most stunning bride the world had ever seen. As if she needed it. As if she wasn't the most gorgeous creature on Earth seconds after she woke up, before the her lips curved in the first lopsided grin of the day.
'Don't get married to him.'
Ready, willing, and able to lose it all if she said she wouldn't do it. A useless plead, for Gods who were deaf and blind. But how else could he express his wishes, put them into words? It should have been him, waiting for her on that black-wood dais.
Andrómeda blinked a few times, in confusion, as if she couldn't believe the words that had left his mouth. Lightly shaking her head, she looked away, before replying.
'There's no other way.'
'Why?'
Aguni didn't mean to sound so aggressive, so desperate. But he couldn't mask his feelings, not with her, and probably not with anyone else, if he had another drink. The ethanol cursing through his veins revealed emotions he would have kept buried, otherwise. Deep, deep under the ground. Rotting, beetles and worms and countless other insects making their claim to them.
'You know this, it's a political marriage, of sorts. I'm nothing but a mere decorative figure, not that different from the figurine of the bride on top of the four-tiered cake... It was a vital alliance for my father and his last words before dying were...'
'I'm not talking about those reasons, Andrómeda!' A harsh tone, that of a heartbroken man, who for a while had everything he wanted and, suddenly, had it taken away from him. His face, red with repressed anger, knowing it wasn't really her to blame, but he had to dump all these emotions somewhere. 'Don't your feelings matter? You're not a bargaining chip.'
She tried to grab his hand. He took it away.
If she was hurt by that, she didn't show.
'No, they don't.' When had she become so fragile? When had her fire burnt out? There had been so much life inside of her, but Aguni was looking into her eyes now and seeing... nothing. Void. The abyss he had wanted to jump into the night they had met had swallowed everything around it. Even light. Like a black hole. Didn't they say there was a supermassive one at the center of every galaxy? Ironic, then, that her name was Andrómeda. 'If it was just me... but Cass, and Hércules...'
The older sister. The mother figure. The shoulder to cry on, the biggest support, the best friend, the caretaker. She fulfilled all of these roles in her younger siblings' lives. Aguni knew this. And she had made sure he understood. They are the first loves of my life, tied at number one, she had said, pointing a finger at him before throwing both arms around his neck and kissing him passionately, but that doesn't mean you can't be number two.
What was left of that? How was he supposed to go on?
'Look, Aguni, I...' how good it sounded, his name on her lips. Screamed, whispered, muttered under her breath. It didn't matter. 'There's no time, someone's going to come looking for us soon and... please, don't think this was a choice, because it wasn't. What we have is special, there will be nobody like you...'
'I feel there's a but coming.'
'But...' She sadly smiled, before continuing. 'I can't. I'll always love you and Takeru won't replace you in my heart. Nor will anyone else. This is what I have to do, but you still have a chance. Find someone else, fall in love, forget me. Our lives should be big enough to contain a multitude of romances, and not be defined by just one.'
And with those words and a last caress to his cheek, she dried her tears and abandoned the maze, leaving him stunned and unable to conjure up the words to make her stay.
Our lives should be big enough to contain a multitude of romances...
Aguni agreed with that, in theory. Not in practice. He couldn't. He had lost sight after contemplating the most breathtaking scenery. Taste, after enjoying the most mouth-watering foods. Hearing, after listening to the most haunting melody. Touch, after feeling the most wondrous materials. Smell, unable to enjoy ever again the flowers, the cherries, the vanilla of her scent.
Left alone, he thought about the popular saying "nadie se muere de amor".
Nobody dies from love.
Then, why did he feel like he would be the first?

Wrote this for the Drug Cartel AU @cheshire-shuntaro created. Aguni being depressy as is his right.
Aguni didn't really like sleeping.
The few times he closed his eyes and let himself drift off into the arms of Morpheus, he found himself in a gray fog. Voices, speaking to him. 'Call me El Sombrerero Loco.' Takeru's. 'You should never stop trying to do better.' Andrómeda's.
Would they be angry at him? For wanting out? Not only because he couldn't bear his best friend's obsession with power, the way it seemed to flow in his veins instead of blood and corrupt him from the inside, just as did the drugs they sold. Madder by the minute. His grip on reality escaping from him like grains of sand in a clenched fist. No, there was also the matter that Fernando García, the Spanish drug lord, had sold his oldest daughter to Takeru, as a sort of payment. Had he already been diagnosed with the fatal illness that would eventually take his life, or had it also been a move from a person thirsty for more? More influence, more money, simply more.
Aguni had committed many sins in his life. But falling in love with Andrómeda hadn't been one of them. If the Gods were feeling generous and benevolent, he was able to dream of the first night he had met her. Takeru and him, nothing but young adults with big dreams and empty stomachs, trying to make a name for themselves in a competitive, dangerous industry. They had attended a big party, in the south of Spain, giving fake names at the door, of high-ranking members of the Yakuza. It was a risk, but if went well and they could close a deal, it would prove to be worthy.
Aguni had made his way to the bar, and ordered himself a whiskey on ice, when a laugh had attracted his attention. A laugh coming from the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on; a few years younger than him, long, black, wavy hair, reaching the middle of her back. The darkest eyes he had ever seen, like an abyss any man would crave to jump into, slanted and with a spark of entertainment in them. A crooked smile, that seemed to whisper I see right through you. Pale skin, with freckles and a few beauty spots here and there, like constellations adorning the night sky. She was wearing a golden dress, the hem of it sweeping the floor. Even then, she was made to look like a trophy.
'What's so funny?' Aguni had asked. His English had never been very good. Takeru was usually the one in charge of making conversation. Much more charismatic, endearing. He usually just had to look strong and menacing.
She laughed again. And Aguni just knew, he could spend his entire life hearing that sound and never get tired of it.
'You.' She answered, in perfect Japanese. No accent whatsoever. She was clearly Spanish, but judging by the way she spoke, Aguni wouldn't have been surprised if she had claimed to live in Tokyo her entire life. 'I've met Hiroshi Nakamura and he doesn't look like you, at all.'
The man swallowed. Fuck, what would Takeru do in this situation?
'I'm... his brother.' If he had a gun, he would have shot himself right in the face.
'Oh, I had never heard of brothers who had the same name! What a lack of imagination, that of Mr. and Mrs. Nakamura...' She stopped, coming closer. The smell of flowers, cherries, vanilla. Intoxicating. 'My name's Andrómeda...'
'A beautiful name.' He quickly replied, thinking that maybe, if he complimented her enough, she would let it slide. But her smile grew wider. He had fallen right into her trap.
'If you like the tip, you're going to love what comes next. García.' She made sure to over-pronounce the three syllables composing her surname, rolling her rs as only a Spanish person could do. 'The daughter of Fernando García, the man whose party you're trying to crash.'
His shock seemed to amuse her. Aguni found himself opening and closing his mouth, like a goldfish, unable to conjure up the words that wouldn't get him kicked out of the event. He, of course, had known that Fernando García had four children: two girls and two boys. With weird names, difficult to pronounce and harder to remember. He just...
'Sorry if I seem surprised. Your father is such an unattractive man that I cannot believe he has such a gorgeous daughter.'
High stakes. Would that offend her? Quite the opposite, the young girl seemed satisfied with his answer.
'Ah, algo de garra, al fin... you can stay. As my guest. I'll have to know your real name to add you to the list, however, so if you would be so kind...'
'Aguni. Aguni Morizono.'
'Nice to meet you, Aguni Morizono. See you later?'
She made it sound like a question, but it wasn't. Andrómeda had him right where she wanted him.
The Andrómeda appearing in this gray fog plaguing his dreams wasn't the real one. It lacked her charm, her warmth. And yet, it was good to see her. A fierce longing, heart-ache.
She had promised him just that, the night they had shared their first kiss, reading his hand after it had traveled throughout the geography of her body, her hair spilling all over his chest.
'You will have two kids.'
'Yeah?'
'Sí. Two kids and... oh, look at the line of love.' Aguni had no idea which one, out of all the lines in his hand, was the line of love. Perhaps Andro didn't know either. It definitely looked like she was making all of it up. But he was used to her antics. 'It says you will face a lot of pain. It will be very difficult, a lot of yearning, a burning ache, for years, but... it will be worth it.'
'Does it say anything about who I will have them with?'
He had earned a playful smack, for that. A fierce woman, his. A fire burning inside of her, enough to warm anyone around her.
But still, time passed. For Gods, for animals, for human beings. For the ghosts of the past that haunted him. And the dreams ended.
And he woke up alone. In a big house, with enough money to never have to lift a finger in his entire life, but alone. Surrounded by people who were loyal to him, but lacking his best friend, too far gone for him to reach. Lacking the love of his life, who was treated like a property, more than a wife.
A lone blue flower in a crystal vase.
A hat hanging from a rack.
Remains of a life in which he had been happy.

Aguni took a seat on one of the couches of Takeru's suite. He leaned his body forward, placing his elbows on his knees and holding his head between his hands. He rubbed at his chin, thinking on whether the girls had said anything when An had shown up or not. He had honestly been too worried about Andrómeda to pay attention to anything else, much less the conversation around him.
He did recall something, however.
'An said something like you can go back to wearing your golden bikinis now to them.' He was not sure those were the exact words, but he figured they were close enough. 'Andrómeda and I were... Having a moment.' He preferred calling the Spanish woman by her full name other than by any of the nicknames he had heard her siblings or friends using, at least when he spoke of her to others. He wasn't sure what her reaction would be if he were to do that to her face. But it just... it feel more special that way, more unique. Like an incantation. 'It was clear she was referring to Airi. They looked shocked for a moment or two, but...'
He raised and lowered his shoulders, corners of his lips curved slightly downwards.
He decided to tackle the second question. 'It is. This was a Spades game, none of their specialties. But it's not like they can decide beforehand which type of game they are going to play...' Worry creeping in his voice, choking at his throat, rendering him helpless and desperate.
'I want to go with them. To any game they have to play from now on. And with the other two, the siblings.' He wanted to protect them all, if he could. It wouldn't undo all the evil, all the lives he had taken, all the pain he had caused. But Aguni felt like he had to start somewhere.
It was, however, still not the right solution. Because what if they wandered into one of those games in which there could only be one survivor? What would happen then?

Airi let herself into Andro's room after knocking once. She was happy to notice the way her friend's lips were curved in a soft smile. Airi knew the cause behind it.
'Thanks for letting me stay here tonight,' Airi said. 'And thanks for coming with me. I... probably wouldn't have made it back without you.'
Now that she was clean, Airi was starting to feel better, safe, with her best friend. She took a deep breath. Airi realized that the game had affected her so much because of the very real possibility of losing someone that was very dear to her. Being the only survivor in a game, she could take; being the only survivor in a game with Andi (or Cass, or Hércules), would kill her too.
Andro patted the bed, bringing Airi back from her grim reverie.
'We're both here, that's what matters,' the dark-haired woman said.
Airi ruffled Andro's hair gingerly but affectionately. 'I thought Aguni would stay the night with us, too. You know, for added protection,' she teased, sort of grateful for the blisters on their hands because otherwise Andro would have hit her with a pillow by now.
When they stopped giggling, Airi asked: 'so what's your read on the big scary man? Really scary or actual giant teddy bear in disguise?'

Aguni had considered the possibility of going to bed, but there was a storm raging on inside of him and he knew he was not going to be able to sleep, no matter how hard he tried.
He was still worried about Andrómeda. Couldn't help himself. He had reached the decision he was not going to let her go to a game alone ever again. That he wanted to be there next time. To protect her.
He decided to walk around the hallways, gun in hand, to check everything was in order. Keep himself busy. Try to keep his mind off those haunting dark eyes, so brown that they looked black, and staring into them was like looking into an abyss. One he wanted to jump into.
After he had finished, he made his way to his room. He already had his hand on the door's handle when he heard Takeru calling his name. He raised his head and looked for him, locating him quickly. There were not that many people around at this hour, it was nearly sunrise.
He was tired. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be with someone, or alone with his thoughts. But Takeru meant so much for him. He was the whole reason why he had become... this. This shell of a human being, empty inside.
So of course, he accepted his invitation, and went into his suite, nodding to him as a greeting when he passed by his side.
'The girls are fine. Hurt, but fine. It was a difficult game, they were the only two survivors.' He summarized everything, and waited for him to ask his questions. Because Aguni knew Takeru very well, and he was convinced he had them.

Aguni made his way to his room as quickly as he could. Not because he was excited about the surprise — sadly very little things elicited that response in him those days, but because he didn't want to be approached.
He never wanted to, but that didn't keep people from trying. Luckily, the fact that he was covered in blood and still was gripping a gun with his right hand, knuckles white from the tension, kept most people away. Those who wouldn't stay back, he regarded with a scowl, feeling almost a pain in his chest when they shuffled away from him filled with fear, looking at him as if he was the Devil incarnated. But it was what he had to do. What he needed to do.
He finally got to his room, and opened the door. He had been planning to go find Hinata later, after he had washed and cleaned and rested, and therefore was surprised to see his friend standing there, eyes widening for just a second. He felt almost flustered. Hinata and Takeru knew he killed people, but it was different to know something and to actually see it with your own two eyes. The man with the ponytail hadn't witnessed the murders, but... it was close enough. People's remains were still on him.
'I wasn't expecting y...' He couldn't finished the sentence, because then he realized the way his room was decorated. He swallowed, hard. Emotions build up inside of him, but he pushed them down. Not now, stay quiet, stay hidden. You can't appear to be vulnerable. To be touched. If you allow yourself to feel something, it will all break down. 'Was my birthday today?' He simply asked.
📝 Happy Birthday ‘Guni 🎂🥳 Got a surprise for you for after your game ..! - ☼
Aguni returned from his game covered in blood, which was what happened more often than not with Spades.
He was uncomfortable. Dirty, sweaty, and the fact that his clothes were covered in somebody else's body fluids didn't help improve his mood. He wondered for an idle moment if this was a life worth living, but quickly dissipated those thoughts. He knew the answer, because one had to be realistic, but his will to live was stronger than his desire to die. It did not matter that getting through one more of these games seemed like quite the ambition, because he still had to protect both Takeru and Hinata.
It was precisely the latter who had mentioned how he had a surprise for him after his game. He had left him a note in his bedroom that morning.
Aguni was unsure of what the surprise was. Part of him wanted to take a shower, get in bed and call it a day. But maybe, being with a... friend would help cheer him up. Unlikely, but he had to try.

What are some song lyrics you associate with your muse?
I don't really have a lot of songs that I associate with Aguni to be honest, BUT.
There is one that gives me big Aguni vibes, which is:
Type O Negative - Love You To Death
I beg to serve, your wish is my law Now close those eyes and let me love you to death Shall I prove I mean what I'm saying, begging I say the beast inside of me is gonna get ya, get ya, get...
Let me love you too Let me love you to death Hey, am I good enough For you?
#out of character#[the uncertainty when he asks am i good enough for you? 100% aguni]#[WAIT UNTIL I ANSWER THIS WITH THE SIBLINGS THO SLAKDJADJ i love this question is the best thing to ever happen]#Big Aguni Vibes

After thanking An for her help, and overseeing that Airi could get to her room without any trouble, Aguni went back to Andrómeda's side. She had stood up and gone to the bathroom, and was trying to clean herself after wetting a towel in the sink, wincing every time she had to go over one of her uncovered wounds.
'Can I help you?' Aguni asked the dark-haired woman. She quickly shook her head to refuse, but he just took a step in her direction and extended his arm, palm facing upwards, so that she would give him the towel. She thought about it for a second, but ended up doing just as he asked.
He helped her, trying to get rid of as much ash and snoot as possible, his touch as tender as he possibly could manage, while she stood there looking at him. To say he was surprised at her strength, at the fact that she hadn't even shed a tear, not even in the brief moment she had been alone, was an understatement. He was impressed, looking at her with some sort of reverence. He had seen strong people, but even the strongest ones had broken down after a game with no survivors. Not her.
Blows softened some, and hardened others. The woman in front of him belonged to the second group, clearly.
'It's fine, Aguni, I should probably take a shower as well...'
'Do you want me to help?'
She gave him a crooked, mischievous smile, something he was starting to associate with her and only her. Nobody else had ever made him feel like that, not in the real world, not in the Borderlands.
'I'd rather not be burnt to a crisp the first time you see me naked.'
Aguni stared at the floor, suddenly not able to hold the woman's stare, flustered. He heard her laughing, and suddenly felt her fingers on his jawline, soft pressure from them making him look upwards, until her face was all he could see.
'Thank you, seriously. For everything.'
'I... of course. If you need me...'
'I'll go find you.'

Airi took a seat in front of Aguni and Andro, and accepted the glass Takeru offered her. She didn't drank from it immediately, though. She was wary of him, not afraid, but guarded.
She looked at her friend talking animatedly with the militant. Airi smiled, it was like seeing Andro be herself again, carefree and playful, it was good to see that this place hadn't taken that from her.
'So, Airi,' Takeru said, swirling the contents of his glass. 'Are you enjoying The Beach?'
Airi would have very much liked to say that she didn't. But the truth was that it was not a bad arrangement, all things considered, to have a place to return to after a game. She shrugged. 'It could be worse.'
Takeru leaned forward. 'But it could be better? Tell me what you'd like. Maybe we can reach an agreement.'
'I doubt it.' Airi finally took a sip of his drink.
'How had I not seen you before?'
'Too much alcohol? Or perhaps it's those sunglasses,' Airi sassed him.
Takeru removed the sunglasses and stared at her. 'Well, I am looking now.' Airi held his gaze, and saw something behind his eyes. Yes, the man in front of her was high on power, apparently trying to seduce her, but there was a spark of fear. He was playing a role even now. She wondered just how many things at The Beach were just a facade.
He put the sunglasses back on. 'I see now. Hearts games. You're good at reading people. Were you reading me just now?'
'Well you make it too easy.' Airi drank deeply from her glass.
'Why don't we send our friends away and you can spend the night reading me?'
It was Airi's turn to laugh. 'Do you truly think you're that hard to read, or that interesting?'
Someone opened the door to the suite. Two girls in tiny golden bikinis stumbled in and made to rush toward Takeru but froze when they saw the other three people in the room.
'Ah, but it looks like you already have willing readers.' Airi stood up, downing the rest of her drink. 'Andro, I'll wait for you by the pool.'
Airi walked out of the room, not entirely sure why her heart was racing.

Aguni had been looking for Andrómeda the whole night. He hadn't said anything, or actually asked anyone about her whereabouts. He just hoped he would find her by "chance". For her, at least.
He had already visited all the places where the raven-haired woman could usually be found, but so far had seen no sign of her. And worry was starting to slowly creep in, something he had only felt for Takeru until then.
He did find Cass, however, prancing around a corridor holding a heavy-looking sword with both hands. The weapon dangerously resembled the one Last Boss always carried with him, but in that particular moment, he didn't care. He just needed to know nothing had happened to Andro.
The middle García siblings came to a halt when she saw him, eyes widening in surprise, and she opened and closed her mouth a few times, apparently having problems to come up with an excuse as to why she was holding a sword that she had very obviously stolen and that was way too big for her. She couldn't even wield it properly.
'I swear there's an explan...'
'Where's Andrómeda?'
'Ah.' Cass looked relieved. 'She's playing a game today, with Airi. They left maybe like a couple of hours ago.'
Aguni's muscles tensed. Most people had arrived from the games already. The lobby was full of those celebrating they were alive for a few more days, opening bottles of alcohol and toasting to their skills, or good luck. There were some injured, yes, but even they were happy, the thrill of surviving overcoming any possible pain they felt.
'Do you know who she went with?'
'No, sorry. I just know she changed the number they gave her with someone. She wanted to go with Airi.'
Aguni nodded, because of course she had. Those two women cared about each other, their friendship being obvious to anyone who paid them the smallest bit of attention. He said goodbye to Cass, who quickly scurried away with her sword, and went to the lobby.
He paced up and down the room. Hoping, praying, that the game Andrómeda had to play today was Clubs, her specialty. And preferably a low number.
He was going crazy. Walking towards The Beach's entrance to check every single car that arrived, desperately yearning to see her come out of one of them.
Almost falling to his knees when he finally did.

Aguni saw the hesitation in Andrómeda's dark eyes when two of Takeru's girls came in, sporting that golden bikini he liked to give to his lovers, and Airi left.
She looked first at Takeru, then at him, and lastly at both women.
'Is one of them for you?' She asked.
He was disconcerted not only by the question, but also by the way she had phrased it. She had been very direct. And how she was looking at Aguni now told him that was exactly what he could expect from now on.
'No.'
Andro examined his face. Probably trying to determine if what he was saying was the truth, if there were any signs that he could be lying. She, apparently, decided to believe him, her body visibly relaxing.
'I still should get going. She's my best friend, from the real world.' She explained, giving him a reason for why she was leaving even if he hadn't asked her for one. 'I would like to talk to you again.'
'Are you always this...?' Aguni didn't know what the correct adjective was, but he didn't need to look for one, because she cut him before he could. With a lopsided grin adorning her lips.
'I am, yes. When I start getting comfortable.'
'May I escort you to the pool?'
'I know where the pool is.'
'Maybe I would also like the conversation to keep going.'
If she was surprised by his sudden bluntness, she didn't show it. She just stood up, and waited for him to do the same. Before leaving, the leader of the militant faction turned to Takeru.
'Let me know if you need anything.'
Aguni closed the door behind him, following Andro. It was rare for him to find someone so... He had been losing himself in apathy, in numbness, for a while now. He felt like he was in the middle of the sea, drowning, and people around him were bathing, playing and having fun, and did not notice. He didn't know if she did, but with the raven-haired woman, it was like the water had evaporated completely. There was only fire. A certain heat in his chest. A flutter in his stomach.
'Just so you can let him know, that was not the right way to approach Airi.'
'Hm?'
Aguni would have very much preferred to know what the right way to approach Andrómeda was, but he would take whatever he could get, as long as he could keep talking to her.
'She's not... being all high and mighty and all like 'I'm the boss of The Beach' is not going to work with her.'
'And what would?'
'Are you interested in her, all of a sudden?'
'I'm interested in you.'
Again, that bluntness. He wouldn't have said that to anybody else, but with her it came easily. He feared he was coming on too strong, but the woman's crooked smile just grew wider. She twirled a strand of long straight black hair around one of her index fingers. The type of hair a man wouldn't mind to have spread all over him.
'Lucky for you, the feeling's mutual. Unlucky for you, we are almost by the pool. But, if you ever want to see me again, I think you know where to find me.'
She waved him goodbye and left. Just like that.
He watched Andrómeda until she had located her friend, and was sitting down beside her. Her first words to Airi drew a small smile on his face.
'Oh, this is happening. He told me he was interested in me, can you believe it!?' She turned around to see if he had gone already, and giggled when he saw him still standing there. 'By the way, what happened with Hatter?'
Aguni took his leave, not wanting to intrude.

Continued from here
Airi took a seat in front of Aguni and Andro, and accepted the glass Takeru offered her.
