Beverley Knight to 'Dig Deeper' in THE BODYGUARD's Summer Return to London
Fresh from a tour of the UK and Ireland, THE BODYGUARD is headed back to the West End with original star Beverley Knight in the spotlight.
The Daily Mail writes that the recording artist, who appeared in the musical three years ago in London, will return to the role of Oscar-nominated superstar 'Rachel Marron' at the Dominion for a run from July 15, 2016 to January 7, 2017.
Knight has been keeping busy since her stage debut in THE BODYGUARD, having starred in both MEMPHIS and CATS since then. The singer is currently working on a new album and is planning a tour.
With more stage experience under her belt, Knight told the Mail that she "wants to dig deeper" into her role for THE BODYGUARD's return.
"I understood Rachel from a singer's point of view the first time. But she's pretty conflicted about what she wants, and trying to get people to listen to her. There's a sense of her trying to stand her own ground."
Thea Sharrock's production of THE BODYGUARD features book by Alex Dinelaris. It made its world premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in December 2012. Based on Lawrence Kasdan's 1992 Oscar nominated film, The Bodyguard, which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, was nominated for four Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical and Best Set Design and won Best New Musical at the Whatsonstage Awards.
In THE BODYGUARD, former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don't expect is to fall in love. A romantic thriller, THE BODYGUARD features a whole host of irresistible classics, including "Queen of the Night," "So Emotional," "One Moment in Time," "Saving All My Love," "I'm Your Baby Tonight," "Run to You," "I Have Nothing," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and one of the greatest hit songs of all time -- "I Will Always Love You." http://www.broadwayworld.com/westend/article/Beverley-Knight-to-Dig-Deeper-in-THE-BODYGUARDs-Summer-Return-to-London-20160204

One More Try - New Single out 23/10/11
Our Bev will be releasing her impassioned gospel infused cover of George Michael's 'One More Try' on 23rd October on Hurricane Records. Taken from her acclaimed 'Soul UK' album and originally featured on Michael's #1 UK and US album Faith, One More Try shows George Michael's songwriting at it's best and most soulful (the track was also a US R&B Chart no 1). Beverley's version is widely credited as one of the stand-out cuts from 'Soul UK' and has been praised by the man himself:
"I'm always flattered by cover versions of my songs - especially when they are sung as beautifully as this. Thank You Beverley xxx" George Michael
What the press are saying about One More Try:
'Soaring, fiercely impassioned, gospel-tinged version of George Michael's classic, which sounds as if it's been replanted into America's Deep South' Q Magazine
'(Knight) makes 'One More Try' sound as timeless as Jimmy Cliff's 'Many Rivers To Cross' Independent On Sunday
'...Best of all is Knight's gospel-tinged overhaul of George Michael's epic One More Try, where she offers hope without forgetting the pain. It's a stunning vocal performance.' Evening Standard
