Just putting right here that THAT scene from ACOTAR when Rhys has Feyre as his escort is so unbelievably problematic, and yet 14 year olds (and those who should know better) are romanticising it as “spicy”?? It’s literally sexual assault. And we’re supposed to ship them???

He:

forces her to drink the wine, which drugs her

she is totally not in control of her own actions

she has no choice

whether he actually touches in that way or not, he is forcing her to expose herself to dozens of people by performing a sexual dance while half naked

As someone who for too long belittled their own traumatic experiences as “oh well he didn’t actually fully r*pe me” and “it’s not as bad as that last time”, romanticising and sensationalising a man using his power to force and manipulate a DRUGGED woman to dress and act that way, is coercion and frankly assault. Why is this in a YA novel in a romantic way???

I don’t care how he redeems himself in Book 2 or about his “poor misunderstood broken soul”, he’s a fucking pervert and predator.
