My oldest son graduates today. I can’t believe this day has come!! I’m happy and excited for him, so proud. I painted this yesterday of a beautiful area near Boston, MA where we lived when he was a baby and toddler. Seems so long ago but really, it’s just a blink away. This 12x12 piece “Better Days to Come” recently won the Ann Crouch Award for Excellence and 1st place in pastels at the 1st annual Amarillo Artsfest put on by the Ann Crouch Foundation. I never had the chance to meet Ann but she was a tireless and motivated supporter of the arts, being an artist herself, and providing many many ways in which artists in our area could grow and find a home. She founded Arts in the Sunset, providing space for more than 40 artist galleries under one roof and also multiple teaching facilities and event spaces. It is currently 43 degrees in the Panhandle in May. (We’ve had snow before so really, not that unusual). It’s been rainy for days and this must be what it feels like to live in Seattle. . . I did a thing yesterday and got some sun kissed locks for fun! I don’t talk about it much here but am in a production of Mamma Mia! with @altamarillo and having a blast on stage!
