Gross.  Can lame white people puh-leeze stop using POC as backdrops in their stupid music videos?
I’ll admit I’d like to be able to enjoy the beat of this track, but the video completely ruins it for me.

This is a hard "holiday" for me... Amazing how much you can love a person you never really got to meet. Wherever you are Daddy...I hope you're still rocking the suitcoat and short shorts.

Yep.
Things people with Social Anxiety do
•go to the bathroom to escape
•feel very uncomfortable without a phone or some other crutch
•dwell on a small awkward moment for much longer than necessary
•never go to any social event without a person that makes you feel comfortable
•follow said person way too much
•worry about the person beginning to find you obnoxious
•faking an illness to get out of a social event

I feel some kind of way about all these white women writing poems and posts about “feminist dragons” and “monstrous femininity” without
a) acknowledging how Black women have been writing and theorizing and making art about these concepts for a long ass time
b) recognizing the intersection of race and sexuality on which all womanhood and femininity hinges
c) considering the role of colonialism in crushing (and now usurping) the myths of sacred feminine power and/or monster women in various non-Euro cultures
d) bothering to nod at the “Dragon Lady” stereotype that’s been deployed against East Asian women to strip them of humanity and agency
e) thinking about why it’s so easy for white women to give up princesshood for dragonhood when a lot of us weren’t given a choice
basically, this is all in the vein of “weaponized femininity” and the other feminist catchphrases that white women both on and off tumblr pretend to have pulled out of thin air with no sense of accountability or history. smh.

So true.  Capitalist culture is all about turning everything and everyone into a commodity.  Labels like productive, intelligent, useful, punctual, mature, responsible (and so on...) are tools of control.  We are programmed to believe what these words mean.  We are programmed to think they apply better to certain types of people than others.
the idea of people having to be ‘useful’ is just so gross, like people do not exist to be used
having to produce something and have a use is a capitalist ideal and not an intrinsic part of humanity
just by being alive you are human and you are worth something and you can never be useless

I have like 0% patience for anti-vaxxers. It's a selfish choice completely backed by fear-mongering and shitty "science". Vaccines work to prevent deadly communicable diseases and have for decades.

the first word I teach my daughter will be “no” she will sing it to me and scream it at me and I will never tell her to quiet down she will say it when I tell her to go to bed when I tell her she can’t have anymore candy or watch anymore television “no” will be my daughter’s favorite word not only will I teach her how to say it but I will teach her to repeat it over and over again until every single atom in her tiny little body hums with it If it makes her less soft than the other girls I will take her to museums and show her what marble and stone can become I will brush her hair and let her wear whatever she wants whatever that makes her she will know that the world has been built upon “no’s” upon rejections and refusals and swords if this makes her a warrior in a field of flowers, then she will walk without fear of being trampled on the first word I teach my daughter will be “no” and when she grows up in a world that tells her she can’t walk down the street by herself that “no” will be heard it will roar and echo down the block and she will never be told to keep silent she will not know the meaning of the word.

It is so difficult to talk about emotional abuse because it is so much bigger than the sum of its parts. The everyday instances, when isolated, seem so insignificant and commonplace that you feel it’s not worth mentioning at all. When you do try to articulate it, it sounds so juvenile, and others will not hesitate to point this out to you.
But within the context of somebody with power over you, somebody you trust using these small moments as tools to strategically wear you down to absolutely nothing, it is suffocating. It overwhelms you and you find you cannot see the forest for the trees and when you try to fight back, try to tell them exactly what they are, the only thing you can do is cite isolated incidents. And they will laugh in your face. And you fear everyone else will, too.
This is why it takes years before you can speak up at all, years before you realize what it all added up to and how it has broken you.
Please listen to victims of abuse. Listen hard. And read between the lines.

I love this comic. I’d say, though I haven’t actually done the math, that at least 67% of the time I’m late to class it’s because I stopped to marvel at something and take a picture. (The rest of the time it’s because parking sucks.)
This argument is definitely something I’ve heard before...
