“It’s one thing to know something, in the way you know there is a chance it may snow or rain. It’s another to hear it.” Her gaze dropped for a moment, she was so flustered. “I’m not normally nearly so forward, but… If you’re willing, would you like to go somewhere and talk about art some more?”
The girl had angel eyes--it was the first thing that Bernadette had noticed. Her hair fell in a lock that brushed her cheek. These were all things that Bernadette subconsciously observed when most spoke to her but, it felt deeply different now. She was never flirted with--in fact, people didn’t even flirt with the idea of flirting with Bernadette Wallace. She was, as it seemed, somewhere else. Somewhere in between a movie and real life. “I’d...I’d very much like that.”

“I wouldn’t use stoic as the word to describe myself. Just…more logical. I’m much better at ancient runes or arithmancy than art.”
“Art or not, you are the smartest person I know, Ros.”

“Whatever drug you are on, I want in– where can I get it? How much does it cost? Any side-effects? You know what, I don’t care about that last part– it sounds fun.”
“I’m high on life, doll-face. I feel great all of the time! Want to know why? Because I discovered the secret to it all: life is beautiful, even in the most terrible places.”

“Wow, that was a very deep statement. I completely agree, art is vital in the preservation, and evolution of culture, and values… And like you said, it’s just beautiful.” Blushing, she added a moment later, “Kind of like you.”
“Art is another set of eyes. It sees things that the soul cannot.” It was fascinating how very often people disagreed with her in this way until now. She, too, was blushing--she could hardly speak. “You’re rather beautiful as well, though I’m sure you already know that.”

“Art has definitely become under appreciated. Never been good at it myself, could never quite express those…intangible things very well.”
“Do you consider yourself to be a stoic? I’ve noticed that most girls who consider themselves highly intelligent also tend to be rather withdrawn emotionally. Just an observation.”

“it’s universally acknowledged that art is important. look at how it survives longer than society itself. it expresses pain and love and things that are so... intangible. and it’s beautiful.”

Innocence is gone as soon as we experience malice and selfishness from another–because from there, we are taught that even the sheep are capable of evil.
