I LOVE MERLIN SFM
Merlin truly is one of the guys of all time:
-They singlehandedly invented magic, and after all of these years they seem to still be the best at it.
-A couple of the loading screen tips imply they have been around since forever. At least for hundreds of years.
-They can canonically shape-shift. Imagine dilf Merlin or grandma Merlin.
- Half of their dialoge options make them sound like an emotionally stagnant ass. The other half screams class clown.
- They can create intelligent life but choose to make a horde of Hamsters?
-They put their house on top of a sleepy dinosaur looking creature???
- Is very smart but also very dumb.
- Casually revitalized a wasteland and chose to live there because they liked the godsdamned wheat???
- Is THE magic user of all time but can not find a cure for their amnesia?
- Would their personality even stay the same? Or are they slightly different every time they come back from the amnesia?
-They are a fucking renowed professor!!!

YESSS FINALLY SOME0NE UNDERSTANDS! He dealt with all these emotions alone. ALL his life. I doubt he had anyone to talk to and woke up and forced himself to be strong for others and barely himself. He defonitely needed emotional and mental support but i doubt anyone would because he was magicless and focused on proving himself worthy. He wasted he life fighting for a homeland that never cared for him. Like Magnifico from Wish (They only cared about his wished and magic and not him) and Zeus (Myths & Mortals) He is a good variant of Zeus that defeated his father Cronos to protect the realm of the gods and why he hated mortals because they opened pandora's box and unleashed a bunch of evil.
all three wasted their lives to protect a land that didnt even want them or cared for them. Eomir deserves better. I bet if we just let him relax or take a vacation. He'd be much calmer, also he's older and more stressed out than when he was younger.
Wilder Culture and Self-Pressure
The common theme between all the Wilders seems to be grand expectations and both self-imposed and societal pressure. I mean, here's who we have already in this category:
Eironn, most obviously, pressured by his title of being the Scion of the Lucent Tree and feeling responsible for the wellbeing of the Dark Forest, even when he wasn't there and likely wouldn't have been able to do anything for the corruption.
Parisa, who, according to her affinity tales, gave up all her favorite hobbies when she became Captain of the Thorned Guards, as it would distract her too much. On her off days, which are rare, she's so over-exhausted she sleeps the entire day and then feels guilty about it. When you give her flowers in Affinity, she desperately tries to keep her composure about how much she likes them.
Lyca, similar to Eironn, seems to pressure herself into taking on the responsibilities of the forest. Her addiction to star and tea readings seem like a coping mechanism to excuse any possible failure on her part.
Lorsan also puts the responsibility of the forest on himself, committing himself to finding a mage no matter how long it took and feeling guilty on returning for being away so long.
Bryon, who constantly puts himself down as not being as talented as Lorsan, despite being chosen specifically by Arden as a student and clearly being a more than adequate Windwhisperer. I like reading him as blind re: the OG backstory, but if we go off current canon, he literally handicaps himself in attempt to become better
Lily May, who, though she was kidnapped and manipulated into the idea of earning rewards, seems to have an inherent need for validation. Was her culture something that made her susceptible to Illucia's manipulation?
Lenya and Young!Florabelle subvert this, being actively lazy about things to where it is/was their whole personality. Is this a retaliation against the pressure to do better?
It's too consistent to be a one-off thing, making me think the Wilder culture simply emphasizes expectations that kind of...give the children of the forest such stress. It makes me wonder too if this pressure to perform and be perfect impacted Eomir, especially given that he canonically had almost no magical talent. Did he see Illucia as an opportunity to finally prove himself?

Yes. Eomir defo was pressured and had to get to where he was without magic, i feel for Eomir because he lead wars and fought for the forest all his life without magic and probaly watched his own soldiers die under his command and he didnt have magic or abilties to help or defend his troops. No wonder he lost his mind and went batshit crazy in his last weeks of his life. He had alot of trauma and hidden mental issues he defo kept the others from knowing.
