Big Thank You

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has partaken in Benophie week!

it's been amazing seeing some new authors coming out of the woodworks, some old ones coming back (@redpensandgreenarrows and @sophiamariabeckett i'm looking at you)

it's been amazing seeing everyone getting involved and sharing their thoughts, headcanons and favourite things about our beloved couple!

I will be planning another little 5 day event for when we get confirmation of S4 being ours and the casting of Sophie so please keep your eyes peeled! but don't worry I will give everyone plenty of time! (and i'll need it to with the little one as well!)

Thank you everyone for making it worth the time and effort I put in arranging Benophie week and I can't wait to celebrate our season with you all!!

Benophie Week Day 5 - Final Day!

Today’s Prompts are: Masquerade / Reunited / “you’re much better off without me…” “you’re not the judge of that”

And it’s our final of Benophie, at least for now, once we get confirmation of S4 being OURS and who Sophie is going to be, then we shall celebrate with an additional few days later on!

But for today… I want to know the following:

How YOU would write about Benedict and Sophie meeting again, so take away the book, and the whole Cavender incident… if that never happened… how would you have them meet again?

How would they recognise one another? Would Benedict recognise Sophie?

And

If the Jail scene never happened, so as Sophie walked out of Number 5 to wait for the carriage, and the carriage came, how would you write their reunion? Would Sophie board the boat to America? 

And WHO else would you like alongside Benedict and Violet? Either in the Jail or in your alternative scene?

Benophie Week Day 4

Today’s Prompts are: Cottage / One bed / “Are you trying to flirt with me?” “yes is it working?”

So obviously today’s headcanons have to be our favourite place in the world…

My Cottage!

So What I want to know is the following:

Firstly your Headcanons! 

Secondly… I want to know what you think My Cottage will look like, feel free to share pictures or just descriptions!

So as always…

I’ll start:

My, My Cottage, headcanons:

Sophie takes over the ledgers within weeks of moving to the country. Whilst Benedict is competent in looking after the ledgers and looking after their finances, Sophie sees ways to increase their income and ultimately even Anthony comes to her for advice

Because of her experience as a maid, Sophie upgrades the servants quarters and makes them more comfortable, and rather than calling them servants she insists they’re “Staff” instead, and she looks after them really well so whenever someone comes to work at My Cottage, they never leave, no matter what they’re offered elsewhere (and people tried to steal her cook on more than one occasion)

Mr and Mrs Crabtree practically adopt Sophie as their own, they learn of her background and are furious. Even when they’re too old to work, they still visit regularly and the Benophie babies call them Nana C and Poppy C.

Sophie is the one who has Benedict’s art studio built on the property, she seems him cramped in his office when the weather is too bad to be in the garden so when they return to London and Kent for Benedict’s birthday and visiting the family, she arranges for it as a surprise.

Sophie cannot stay out of the kitchen, she often helps her cook with the cooking and most of the sweet treats are her recipes, but as the children come along she has less time to be in there

Benedict arranges for new books to be added to the library as Sophie goes through them far too quickly. even when she’s at Aubrey Hall, if no one knows where she is, the first place to look is always the library!

Sophie is well aware that Eloise and Phillip defile her sofa in her office, once they’re married she write to Eloise and sends her the bill for it being reupholstered and it’s how Benedict learns about it.

Benophie Week Day 3

today's prompts are:  Garden / Girl Next Door / “you’re so excited all the time. It’s kind of adorable”

so we're going to discuss two different things again

Firstly Headcanons: The Garden as My Cottage is just as beautiful as the Lake which we know to be important to our favourites… So what I want to know are what your headcanons are relating to the Gardens at My Cottage.

Second discussion point: We know that our lovely couple are basically excitable puppies around one another and in general… basically the living embodiment of Golden Retrievers… so i’d like to know what makes the other go “you’re so excited all the time. It’s kind of adorable”.

Once again i’ll start:

My Gardening Headcanons:

Sophie cannot garden for love nor money. She wants to, she doesn’t understand why whatever she touches in the garden just dies… it’s so bad that Mr Crabtree actually bans her from using the garden

Charlie is the gardener in the Benophie family, he learns from his favourite Uncle Phillip and even as a small child he loves to garden and spends hours there and in the greenhouses at Romney Hall with Sir Phillip.

Phillip spends two weeks trying to understand why Sophie kills all plants, he’s intrigued by it and he even sets up an experiment at Romney Hall, using plants that shouldn’t be killable but yet… no matter what she did, they all died. Phillip is perplexed and has no reasons for it.

Golden Retriever Vibes:

Animals! Sophie gets excited around animals and pets which is passed onto Violet, and My Cottage ends up turning into a pet refuge. She gets really excited when Benedict gets her a dog as a present having always wanted one and never been allowed.

Sophie adores being out in society when they get the chance. She loves playing hostess so when Benedict’s first piece of work is being presented to the national gallery, instead of Violet or Kate playing hostess, Sophie takes over and organises everything and she practically bounces through the planning and overseas the presentation with absolute perfection. (it’s why they sneak off into the Alexander the Great exhibit and well… )

Benophie week day 2

So we all know how important the Lake is in the book and we all agree that it’s a key moment for our favourite couple…

So today’s discussion is two part…

Firstly… what headcanons do you have that surround the lake and the Benophie family…

Secondly: what other scenes in the book do you think are an absolute MUST for their season?

Again I’ll start:

For headcanons:

The staff at My Cottage don’t go down the lake to summon Mr and Mrs Bridgerton if they are down there alone… they’ve all seen their master and mistress in nothing at all too many times so Mr Crabtree installs a bell not too far away that they ring but only when it’s urgent or time for food.

It’s the place they take their children regularly and family when they come to visit. It’s where they have picnics and have their own Pall Mall set… and much like the lake at Aubrey Hall… it’s full of Pall Mall balls.

Key scenes:

It’s not so much a NEED but a Want…

Sophie leaving and talking to Violet. I want to see that scene played out as I think it would totally break our hearts but would be beautiful but to see Sophie thanking Violet, for accepting her for the first time in her life. Making her part of the family… let’s see some proper angsty heart breaking scenes.

hey! Can you tell me the exact date of the masquerade ball? the exact day benedict and sophie met? thank u

so June 5, 1815 Lady Whistledown reports about the costumes she thinks people will wear at the masquerade and then on June 7 1815 she reports that Benedict was seen with the mystery lady which would lead me to suspect that the masquerade was June 6 1815
