drifting closer â a benophie one shot

âOh my,â Sophie exclaimed, unable to hide her enthusiasm. âYou have some kites in here.â
âKites?â Benedict asked confusedly, abruptly sitting up on his bed.
She picked up the kites and showed them to him. âIndeed, there are three of them. And they are really pretty.â Their design wasn't particularly unique; they were all diamond-shaped and colourfulâher favourite one was entirely green with ribbons adorning its tail. And yet, they were the most beautiful kites she had ever seen.
Benedict studied her in silence for a few seconds before he addressed her. âHave you ever flown a kite, Miss Baek?â
â
My own interpretation of the Benophie kite scene.

longing â a benophie one shot

âI regret to inform you that youâve missed your family. They made their way to your brotherâs house a while ago, and they wonât be back until later tonight,â she politely said, avoiding his gaze and opting to look to her right, studying the detailed marble balustrade she was gripping with all of her strength.
It was no surprise to her when he quickly ascended the stairs to meet her, stopping just one step below. âThat's even better, then,â he said in a sudden lower and almost whispery voice, one that made her clench her thighs. âI was hoping there would come a day when we would finally be alone again.â
She raised her eyes to meet his own bright ones, hating the way she immediately felt her breath quickening at the sight of him standing so close to her. His hand rested on the balustrade, almost touching hers, and Sophie could feel all the little hairs on the back of her neck go erect at the prospect of him grasping her hand. Just one touch, and it would be more than enough for her.
Maybe. Maybe she would need way more than just a single touch.
â
My own interpretation of the heavily teased staircase Benophie scene.

latte with a side of romance â chapter 3

Christmas is around the corner, and Sophie is busy with work. That's how she ends up inviting Benedict to help her with baking, a decision she quickly regrets making.
Or, simply, an insane amount of holiday fluff.

how to lose a guy in 10 days â chapter 4

âToday youâre going to the movies with her, right?â Rupert asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
âYes,â Benedict confirmed. âShe suggested it herself.â
âWell, there you go, you wonât have to talk much,â he said, after taking a bite of the toast in front of him. âJust do the classic things women love: hold her hand, let her rest her head on your shoulder... And if youâre watching a horror film and sheâs scared, wrap your arm around her and tell her not to worry.â
Perhaps he was right. A cinema date was likely exactly what they needed after yesterdayâs antics. Theyâd sit side by side, share their popcorn, and watch the film in silence.
Yes, everything would be fine.
Right?

how to lose a guy in 10 days â chapter 3

âWhat are you planning to do with those tickets?âÂ
âI was going to ask you the same question. After all, they belong to you.â Â
âIâd appreciate it if you returned them to me.âÂ
âDo you have someone in mind to go with?â Â
Posy let out a squeal, but Kate quickly covered her mouth, while Sophie tried to suppress her laughter. âThat depends.âÂ
âOn what?â Â
âOn whether you want to come with me or not,â she said quickly, watching her friendsâ reactions. They were glued next to each other, completely focused on her phone, which was resting on the coffee table. They were eagerly awaiting his answer.Â
âAre you asking me out, Sophie Baek?â Benedict asked teasingly.
âIt would be mean to just take the tickets back without inviting you to join me. Iâm not that cruel.âÂ
âThank you for considering me. I would be a fool to say no to an offer like this,â he replied. âWhat time shall we meet and where?â Â
âAt six, outside the bar where we met last night,â she said instantly. âDonât be late.âÂ
âI wouldnât dream of it,â he admitted.

hold on... đ
Unpopular Opinion: It could be good that the Crabtrees not show up in the show
Allow me to make my case in bullet points:
I understand their comic relief role in the book. However, I don't believe their brand of comedy is necessary in the show. Why? Because we already have Luke Thompson, the comedic genius, that's why. Let him do his thing.
There are ENOUGH characters. We don't need to conjure yet another storyline vying for attention within the already crammed 8 episodes. It's better, to me at least, to enhance the intimacy at My Cottage instead of watering it down.
Their absence would give Benophie the whole house to themselves. More Benophie screentime, them be alone together, unchaperoned, which is what we want. Sophie will be allowed, for the first time in her life, a place where she can breathe, relax and just be herself, without anyone reminding her to remember her station. It would strengthen her attachment to My Cottage, how quickly she can find herself at home there. And without a moderator to uphold the status quo, it would just be so much harder for both Benedict and Sophie to maintain behind their class barriers.
No Mrs. Crabtree means no woman's clothes, meaning Sophie would have no choice but to walk around My Cottage drowning in Benedict's baggy shirtsleeves and trousers. The entire time. Admittedly, this one is for me personally, but I don't think I need to elaborate on the delicious potential this would bring.
That speech Sophie gave Mrs. Crabtree about being unsure of her standing in the world and her insights into social conventions? Let her give that to BENEDICT. Let him process that. Let him grapple with learning this astute observation from her and how to reconcile it with his growing attraction to Sophie. Let him spiral. Now why wouldn't you want to see Benedict spiral?
Benedict has the opportunity to become the Bridgerton who knows how to operate a stove. Sophie teaches him how to brew his own tea. He eagerly aids her as she cooks, carefully collecting the bits and pieces that she reveals about herself. He makes her laugh with his earnest novice behaviour. The first time he touches her chin (he does that a lot in AOFAG, it's insane how cute that is), is to wipe away a smudge of soot or flour that lingers on her skin, etc...
The casual comfort and intimacy at My Cottage would give way to whiplash effect with sharper contrast when they return to haughty Mayfair without the presence of another downstairs-couple beforehand to soften the blow. The constraints of high society descending upon them literally the second they set foot in the city, customs both know they're required to acquiesce yet neither can bear to comply. The harsh realisation of their class disparity being brought into painfully glaring focus, visually. Can you just taste the angst??
In conclusion, if the Crabtrees are already cast, it'd be fine. But they aren't, I'd prefer the show keep it that way

they look so good next to each other
This year's most sought-after invitation must surely be that of the Bridgerton masquerade ball, to be held Monday next. Indeed. One cannot take two steps without being forced to listen to some society mama speculating on who will attend. And perhaps more importantly, who will wear what.

latte with a side of romance â a benophie au (chapter 2)

Benedict never got nervous. Well, almost never. He couldn't forget the anxiety he felt on the day he submitted his application to the London Fine Arts Studio. Thankfully for him and his nerves, he had been accepted after a week of waiting for an answer, so his maddening anxiety and nervousness didnât last long.
But other than that, he didnât get anxious easily when he had important work to do or when he was about to meet new people.
Until Sophie Baek.
Despite his excessive confidence during their first meeting, which didnât go unnoticed by Sophie, Benedict had been trembling every day at the thought that he might make a mistake and ruin everything before it even started.
All it had taken was a single look. When he saw her sitting alone in that corner booth of the cafĂŠ he frequented, frowning and almost irritated by the book she held in her handsâa book he would recognise anywhereâhe knew he had to speak to her.
It was as simple as that; the sky was blue, the sun was rising, and Benedict had to meet the woman sitting across from him.
