Doll brands I never thought I'd own, part 6(?): WeGirls
WeGirls of the World is another rare and obscure brand of 18 inch dolls that I finally managed to track down. This was a European brand that only made dolls for (at most) four years, so I hadn't counted on actually, miraculously, randomly, stumbling across one of them for sale. But I did, and here she is!
Tumblr media
This is Lidia Kozikowska. She recently immigrated here from Poland, which is where WeGirls is based. Check out the Polish text on her original box, which translates to "Girls like you! Have fun and change yourself and the world for the better! Beauty is within you!"
The dolls themselves were manufactured in Germany by Schildkröt, a renowned doll company. Because of that, I'm not surprised at the high quality. This doll is sturdy, her joints move smoothly, and she has eyes that open and close. Her hair is rooted, but it's dense and definitely not the cheap kind.
Overall I'm super impressed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lidia has an all-vinyl body. She can fit in American Girl (left) and Maplelea (right) clothes and shoes, although she is slightly slimmer than dolls of those brands. I'd say she's closer to the size of a Journey Girls doll. Her feet, though, are ever so slightly larger than most American Girl feet.
Her vinyl is very soft and squishy with a peachy tone.
Tumblr media
It's so soft that her fingers bend easily, so they can hold this adorable pose.
Her face mold reminds me of some Maplelea dolls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two brands aren't affiliated, so it's just a fun little coincidence.
Tumblr media
I took Lidia out to my favorite doll photography spot in the mountains and let her have a closer look at her new homeland.
Tumblr media
I also let her test her equestrian skills, since she'll need them around here. She handled Horsefina very well!
She didn't come with a name, so the name I gave her was one I chose. I was looking at the most popular names given to babies in Poland last year, and was surprised at how many of them were also equally popular in North America. Lidia was #68 on Poland's most used names for babies born in 2023.

I could be totally off base here, but I found a doll that I think looks like she could have the same face, and a somewhat similar frilly outfit.
Tumblr media
She’s listed on eBay as “Animated Doll BbMyst meng xue Talking Doll” and the listing says she is from China. I wish the pictures were better.
EDIT: okay I looked harder at the listing photos, I think their hands also look the same and they seem to have the same pink shoes

Alright doll fandom i need your help: I was out thrifting and found this little beauty. she has rooted hair, her eyes dont clothes, and she has a body with electronic components, and huge pink roller skates
she talks, although not in English (I don't know if shes from somewhere else or someone messed with the language settings) and is about 15 inches
i cannot find ANY information about what brand she is, so I'm asking you super duper sleuth-ers out there to help me find out what kind of dolly this is

I’ve really been working on scaling down my collection this year. Moving into a smaller apartment with less room for doll stuff and then having a baby has meant that having a large collection is no longer my priority. The goal now is to have a handful of dolls that I truly enjoy.
With every piece I photograph, I feel so lucky for the time it has spent in my collection. I’ve had some awesome items. My mom and I used to go hunting for doll stuff together, and many of my items were actually purchased by her. She’ll never meet my baby, but when I sell pieces that she purchased when she was alive, it’s like she’s able to spoil him even though she’s not here.

Harmony's fifth grade yearbook photos, for the 1996-1997 school year. She's posing with the lilacs because she and her classmates put a lot of work into the schoolyard garden, as a gift to the younger students. This fall she'll be starting middle school, and the care of the garden will pass into the hands of the new fifth graders.
Harmony is wearing the Play Outfit from Pleasant Company's Girl of Today collection, minus the denim overshirt, which I made.

Hi, I really like your American Girl drawing I was wondering are you going to continue with your art? Because your art is absolutely amazing:D
Thank you so much! I’m glad to hear that other people enjoy my art. I love drawing these girls and I’m sure I’ll have more art to post eventually.
But I had a baby two weeks ago, so I’m afraid my free time for drawing is limited for the foreseeable future!

I set up a corner with a good photo backdrop and felt that everyone deserved new portraits that are fun and visually interesting.
