I don't see the point of playing in a band and going just one way when you can do everything. It would be impossible for us to play just death metal; that is our roots, but we are now a mishmash of everything, and not purists to any form of music. It's impossible for us to do that, and quite frankly I would think of it as boring to be in a band that plays just metal music. We're not afraid to experiment, or to be caught with our pants down, so to speak. That's what keeps us going.

I’m not a complete attention whore in that I want us to have constant confirmation of how great we are all of the time. But over the years there's been people who approach us who we can tell have been moved by our music or our lyrics. When someone comes up and tells you that they got married to one of your songs, that’s big if you know what I mean. I don’t need some kind of prize in the future saying what I’ve actually achieved in the music world. It doesn’t matter to me. But individual things that we're being told by fans? That's what matters the most.
