'Welcome home, Sunbreaker.' (Part 2 of 2)
In front of the construct lied a round platform with multiple burning stones at its edges. It made the young Titan stop, something told her that this thing was important and she carefully stepped around it before heading inside.
When Weathley caught up to her, she was standing in front of a spire in the middle of the construct. It had a brass coloured metal ring on it with a white light in the center. Beneath the ring was a pattern of multiple blue coloured, diamond shapes interlocking with each other. Bella-2's stare was demanding, as if she tried to intimidate the shapes to just tell her what they are. Her Ghost clicked his Shell in order to tell her that he was here now. Without turning around she asked dryly 'What is this?' 'I d-don't know b-but I c-can try t-to find out!' he floated in front of her with a smug look in his blue eye, that didn't look as good as he thought it would. His dirty and moss covered Shell diminishing his pride. But he assumed right that Bella-2 would be amazed by him being able to scan the alien architecture like it was nothing. 'You can just do that?' she clapped her hands together. 'Y-Yes! I c-can scan and h-hack and fix a-almost a-anything!' 'That is gonna be so useful! So? What is it?' 'W-Well it h-has power. M-Must be some-somekind of m-machine.' His eye widened in horror as he realised where they were. This was no other place than the home of the Sunbreak Order. Their hallowed Forge. He had heard rumours of Liu Feng holding the line alongside Lord Shaxx and Ana Bray at Twilight Gap. Their failed deal with the Vanguard and following hatred of Commander Zavala. How their current leader Ouros is one of the most powerful Titans to be alive. But surely they would let them go? After all, Bella-2 just got revived. The only thing to echo through the halls was Bella-2 exclaiming 'An alien machine? We need to figure out what it does!' 'Oh, I-I th-think maybe we sh-should leave...' he replied timidly, his Shell now clicking almost louder than his voice as he tried to ease the nervous itch of the moss within it. 'But I really wanna know what it does! If something goes wrong you can just fix it, right?' 'I mean....y-yeah pr-probably b-but it m-might a-attract enemies!' 'I'll just beat them up again. No problem.' she said casually in her chipper tone before going to explore the rest of this place. A similar spire just outside caught their attention. It's long shadow giving them a cool place to think in peace for a moment and yet they started to feel like they were being watched. Neither of them said a word about it. They just gave each other a knowing look. But another comforting smile from Bella-2 and Wheatley knew everything would be just fine. She breaks the silence 'I think we need to connect this one with the one inside.' she points with her left arm at the diamond shapes and with her right arm at the ring 'It has the same attachments. Can you scan it? Maybe it is just missing power?' After a quick scan he says 'It has p-power. M-Maybe it is-isn't aligned r-right?' Bella-2 quickly climbs ontop of the spire and grabs the ring, shaking it to do whatever it was designed to do. Her Ghost prayed to the Traveler for her to please not break it. And with one satisfying rusty crunch the ring had snapped into the right place. 'IT WORKED!' she celebrated as they watched a beam of light connect the two spires. Her look went from excitement to awe as she slowly climbed back down. The light had connected to a third thing. Another disc right in front of the plate she had avoided earlier. The stones that were carefully placed at its edges now started to glow in orange fire and formed a star. And created a big glowing orb of Solar light, just waiting in the middle of the plate. The display hypnotised her. It beckoned her. As she slowly walked towards it, her Ghost wanted to call out again. Calling her back and that they should leave. But he stopped himself. 'H-How are w-we sup-supposed to explore the S-Solar Sys-System together? If I al-always hold h-her back?' he thought.
She slowly submerged her hand into it. The heat felt like the a hundred stars had converged at a single point and yet she didn't flinch. Bella-2 embraced the heat as it curled around her every core, where the Void had left its mark earlier that day. Getting a hold on something she slowly pulls her arm back to reveal a hammer in her fist. She lovingly held it up, taking notice of its design. The head was shaped like a regal bird. With patterns adorning its grip and ending in a point tip. The ominous droning noise of arriving Vex broke her out of the moment. And she felt furious as the solar energy started to illuminate her entire body. How dare they interrupt her peaceful meditation? How dare they intrude this loving warmth? And how dare they set foot on these hallowed grounds? 'Wheatley! Come and hide!' she commanded. He did as asked, not questioning why she wasn't wondering what these things were or why they were here. Bella's instincts had kicked in and she would defend the Solar System from these invaders. The Goblins marched on only to burst into flames as the first hammer fell upon them. She loved the weight the throw. Then the Harpies tried to shoot her down before disintegrating from the second hammer. She loved the heavy sound it made as she created a new on in her hand. Three Minotaurs tried to get in close only to be burned in her new flames. She loved the feeling of being hotter than the sun itself.
That was only the prelude. They came in wave after wave. And once her Super ran out, she would just wipe them out with her bare hands. Ducking around cover. Using the bodies of the Minotaurs as metal shields. Grabbing the Harpies by their strange tentacles and just using them as makeshift weapons by throwing them into the other Vex. And immediately summoning more hammers once her energy would allow it.
After what felt like an entire war, there were no reinforcements. She ended the fight where it began. On top of the plate with the flaming stones forming the glowing star. And her hammer disappeared from her fist for now.
Bella-2 sat down, exhausted. Her Ghost sheepishly transmatting in front of her 'A-are you okay?' She stared at the first spire they had investigated 'Yes….I am okay.' she cleared her throat with a quiet mechanical click 'What was that?' she asked.
'That was a test and you passed.' said a regal voice from behind them. The two turned to see none other than Ouros, the third Empyreal Magistrate of the Sunbreakers. She offered her hand to help Bella-2 get up and she accepted. 'You have sought the forge and proven yourself worthy. What is your name?' the towering Titan asked. 'I am Bella-2 and this is Wheatley.' her Ghost had taken cover behind his Guardian. Ouros bowed down to meet her at eye level 'You are quite small for a Titan. How did you find us?' 'My Ghost found me and we just kinda walked straight in the hopes of finding something.' she said dryly. Wheatley started to shake at how casual she was being about this. Ouros' seemed bemused to say the least 'When did he find you?' Bella-2 shrugs looking at him 'Uhm…about a day ago?' There was a strange pause as Ouros processed what she had just heard. Wheatley trembled with anticipation, the only audible thing was the metal chitter of his broken parts bonking against one another.
The silence was broken by Ouros' laughter 'A New Light just wanders in here and proves herself worthy? The smallest Titan I have ever seen on top of that?' Bella-2 just started laughing along. It did sound funny once someone put it like that. Ouros put her hand on her shoulder 'Come, young Titan. You have much to learn. The others will be eager to meet you. Welcome Home, Sunbreaker.'
The bright blue light in Bella-2's smile never faultered as she followed her new teacher into Mercury's hot sands.

'Welcome home, Sunbreaker.' (Part 1 of 2)
Bella-2 giggled as she peered over her Rally Barricade, before turning her excited, green-glowing eyes to her companion 'What else can I do?' 'We-well...th-there is a l-lot you c-can do!' despite him preparing for finally finding his Guardian, Wheatley struggled to find the words. He had expected to hold a big speech once he found them. Expected that they would be confused and scared and in denial, rather than simply accepting this messy world and run into it head first with curiosity.
'R-right n-now you are wie-wielding Void. Y-you c-can throw dif-different kinds of gr-grenades. A-and once you h-have enough en-energy. You c-can cast a Super! Ei-either a Ward of D-Dawn or a S-Se-Sentinel Shield. Y-You a-also have a b-bigger Barricade.' Wheatley's thoughts jumped from place to place. How does he explain that only Ward of Dawn Titans get that overshield on Melee Kill? Or that she can't Shield Bash whilst using that Super? Instead she asked 'And only Titans can do that?' 'Yes! O-Only Titans.' Bella-2 formed a fist covering it with Void Light and gave it a considering gaze 'What does it mean to be a Titan?' she didn't move her eyes away from the purple Light dancing on her metal skin. That question hit Wheatley like a Cabal Drop Pod. How was he supposed to answer a question of such weight? 'Th-that is a dif-difficult question, Bella. T-Titans are the fr-frontline. The Sh-Shields at which the d-darkness breaks. They a-are the he-heavy hitters that t-take out a-armies with their b-bare hands.' 'But that sounds like how we do things. What do I symbolise? What do I stand for? To humanity? What is the meaning of me being the frontline? Why am I here?' her voice was not demanding in any way, rather filled with wonder and as she felt the Void eating away at her core, making her hungry for more knowledge, it turned sorrowful. Her Ghost couldn't help but feel worried 'I-I do not know....' he admitted, turning his Shell towards the ground. Looking at him Bella-2 started to smile 'Then we will figure it out, together!' she announced. And Wheatley rose his head to meet her eyes and nodded in agreement. After a short break of eating whatever the Cabal had left behind and Wheatley telling her about the Warlocks and Hunters and the City, they ventured on. The Vex constructions scattered throughout the planet seemed inviting and hostile at once. Cubes upon cubes stacked ontop each other in all directions, covered in strange lines and patterns. Some of the messy constructions even hovered in the air with no support. More spires scraping at the sky with their light blue ribbons. Round towers emerging from the depths, highlighted by strange lights. Despite the sun never setting, the day was coming to an end. The two friends grew tired. 'Let's look for shelter.' Bella-2 said whilst rubbing her left eye 'I need a nap.' The moment she asked for it, a huge construct emerged from behind the hills. It towered higher than any of the half done contraptions they had encountered so far. More finished, so to say. Bella-2 threw her arms in the air 'THIS IS PERFECT! We can live in there for a while until we find a way to get to the City!' Before Wheatley could reply she had already dashed ahead.

'Nothing better than a clean shot!'
The view of Bella-2's and Wheatley's heads peaking over a few rocks was almost comical. They had their eyes on a group of Cabal taking a break in the shadow of strange spires grasping at the sky, adorned with blue ribbons. Bella-2 took notice of the sound these ribbons made when the wind came to play with them. But she grew quickly irritated by the grunting noises the half dozen Cabal made.
'Is that how they talk?' she asked her Ghost. 'Y-yes.' he affirmed. 'Bleh.' she opened her mouth as if to let her tongue out in mocking disgust. Once she realised how stupid it looked she quickly snapped her jaw shut before continuing 'What are they even? They look like....like....' 'Aliens?' Wheatley said. 'Yes! Like Aliens!' When a Psion on a small dune looked even vaguely into their direction, Bella-2 immediately ducked down behind cover. Wheatley couldn't even process where she went before she grabbed him and dragged him with her.
Once she let him go he rotated his shell around to see if anything got crooked in that maneuver. She sat cross legged, thinking of a plan. After a few moments she snapped her fingers and Wheatley could easily imagine a lightbulb appearing next to her head. 'Alright! Here is my plan!' she announced. 'I-I am all e-ears.' 'So if I saw right, that really small and thin one had a sniper rifle, right?' 'Yes. M-most Psions do.' 'And he is kinda isolated on that little highground of his. So we are gonna try to get behind him, then I will knock him out, steal his gun and put the others down before they even know what is happening!' her eyes glowed in pride of this, in her humble opinion, bulletproof plan. Wheatley's eye returned the glow and as he nodded in agreement, he was convinced his Guardian was truly a Hunter. They slowly make their way to the dune. Ducking in and out of cover. Once there, Bella-2 crawls up the hill on all fours to make sure her footsteps wouldn't alert the Psion. She grabs his feet and pulls him down, pressing his face deeply into the hot sand and rips his rifle away. Dashing to the top of the dune and awkwardly fiddling with the strange rifle to see what is the back and the front. She takes aim and puts down the first Cabal with a clean headshot. His helmet goes flying and his blood covers his fellow soldiers armour. The second one turns around and yells a warning in their barbaric sounding language. He gets two bullets through the chest. The third manages to grab his shield but in instinct she shoots his exposed feet instead and as before he even hits the ground he gets a second shot through the neck. The fourth and fith are taken down by the same bullet, as it penetrates both their skulls. The blue light in her mouth that was a smug smile quickly flickers as she tries to pull the trigger on the last one. Nothing but a disappointing click. The gun was jammed from dirt and sand. Bella-2 tries to figure out any alternative on the fly but the Psion she knocked out was now back on his feet and loomed behind her. 'BE-BEHIND YOU!' Wheatley yells. She turns around just in time for the damn creature not to jump her back. He dives her legs instead and right as he gets there she punches him in desperation. There is no blood. Instead he disintegrates in Void Light covering her in a healing shield. But it is too late. She looses balance and tumbles down the hill landing on her belly and right in front of the last Cabal's giant gun. But he makes the mistake of taking his time. Grumbling something, which she assumed was mockery. Bella-2 gets up incredibly fast and tackles him with full force. It does not throw him to the ground but he drops his weapon. This turns into a twisted wrestling match between the small Exo and the Alien two times her size. But her strength outweighs her body tenfold. And with a swift punch in the neck he finally falls to the ground. A step on his skull ending it all with a satisfying crack.
Wheatley's eye had widened in shock. He was frozen in place from this display. 'Wheaaaatleeeeey. Come on down here already!' she called dusting herself off. 'Ah....y-yes!' he floated down towards her. Bella-2 puffed up her chest in pride 'Hah! I told you it would work! Did you see how I got two of them in one go!' she clapped her hands together in excitement 'Nothing better than a clean shot!' 'I did! Y-You are a n-natural. I-I am p-proud of you.' his voice was loving 'But....' 'But what?' 'Y-You are a Titan!' he said flatly before realising he hadn't even told her about the three classes of Guardians. 'Is that...bad?' 'NO! No! It's g-good. J-just sur-surprising.' She tiled her head at him in confusion and curiosity, like a dog smelling a treat. Wheatley looked at the ground trying to find the right words 'It's just....yo-you are very sm-small for a Ti-Titan.' She scratched her head trying to understand before simply deciding that it was a good thing. 'Well, then I will just be the worlds smallest Titan! Now let's see if these guys got any food or water with them.' Bella-2 trotted towards her first slain enemies and Wheatley felt happy. She was a Titan but he somehow knew that she would still go to explore the Solar System with him, just like he had always hoped. Sagira came back to his mind. 'Be careful what you wish for.' Oh how he had wished. And how his wish had been fulfilled.

'What's your name?'
Mercury, 2 years before the Red War: The sun was merciless that day. Not a surprise, after all Mercury was the closest planet to it. And yet the lonely Ghost felt comfort in its unforgiving light. Using the hard shadows of the Vex constructs to hide from the Cabal partolling the barren lands for anything to scavenge. His battered shell mixed in quite nicely with the alien architecture.
It was dirty. Covered in mud, a broken off tip and even some moss grew within it. He had gotten used to the itch. It had been centuries since his birth. Since the birth of all Ghosts. But being one of the few unlucky ones who still hadn't found their Guardian weighed him down. Those that were supposed to be his companions were quite cruel at times. 'You are defective! You can barely talk. Look at your shell. It is just as messed up as your ability to find your Guardian!'
'I-I a-am not de-defective….' he murmured to himself every day. 'J-just because I ha-have a st-stutter….' He was determined to prove it! To the others! To his Guardian! But most of all to himself. He had prepared a speech. A speech he would hold once he found them. The first draft he created was….messy to say the least. And the second was cheesy. The third too short. The fourth too long. 'It's o-okay! I g-got the m-most important things i-in mind! Ma-maybe I w-will just im-impr-improvise!' the look in his bright blue eye went from confident to doubtful as he struggled with just whispering the very last word.
He mimicked taking a deep breath. Sagira told him that this supposedly helps. She might have been sassy and also took jabs at him but on the other hand she was ALWAYS sassy and with her it was clear that she never meant any of it. 'Pray to the Traveler that you don't get a Warlock!' she said one time 'They might use you for expermients.' In a shy tone he replied 'I-I hope I g-get a H-Hunter! That go-goes to explore the So-Solar System with m-me….' 'Just be careful what you wish for.'
And as he got hung up on old memories, he noticed something strange peaking out of an old, makeshift shelter. Made off salvaged jumpship parts. An arm. An Exo's arm. It was painted red with white stars of all shapes and sizes adorning it for the full length. 'A tat-tattooed Exo?' he thought bemused. He approached carefully, flaoting close to the sunburnt ground. It was indeed an Exo.
Her armor mostly lied shattered around her corpse. The paint had lost most color from the years weathering in the shadows and yet he could clearly see her design. Half of her face was white and the other half red with a big white star on her forehead. As he started scanning her, he realised how unusually short she was. 'Y-you are b-barely 160 centimeters tall!' he said to noone. Her imprint stated that she was designated Bella-2. And with that name he started to feel hopeful. Just a warm, comforting feeling radiating from his very core like the sun looming over this Vex infested planet itself. He mimicked another deep breath and unfolded his dirty shell. As he focused all his energy into this very moment he prayed to the Traveler 'Pl-please be a Hu-Hunter!'
Within a flash the Exo jumped up gasping for air, as if she awakened from a terrible nightmare. She started coughing up seemingly never ending amounts of sand that had been blown into her stomach and lungs throughout the years. The Ghost was bewildered that it had actually worked and was now too stunned to really process what was going on. He snapped back into reality and with a shaking voice he said his first words to his new friend 'H-hold still! I-I can f-fix it!' He flinched when she looked up at him with those glowing green eyes but she did as asked. He scanned her carefully and slowly, as if to not scare her of what was going on and once all was cleared out, she sat down, leaned her back on a poorly secured wall of the shelter and stared him down. But her eyes were filled with curiosity rather than fear or confusion.
The Ghost finally mustered up the courage to break the awkward silence. He flew right in the middle of the room as if taking the stage and said 'We-well…you pro-probably h-have a lot of que-questions. BUT! D-do not worry! I-I got you co-covered. Your n-name is Bella-2 and you a-are a Gu-Guardian. A Guardian i-is a p-person with sp-special powers, th-that were gi-given to you by the Tra-Traveler. Yo-you a-are a protector of hu-humanity!' at this point the excitement within him started to win and he got carried away with emotion, his tone changing from calm and collected to energised and chaotic 'Y-you h-have the po-power to do wh-whatever you want! The whole Sy-Sytem is yours to ex-explore. Y-you c-can knock gods of their th-thrones. Th-there a-are great weapons w-waiting for you to wie-wield them! YOU CAN BREAK YOUR OWN FATE!' at that he suddenly stopped. Doubt washed over him. A thousand thoughts ran through his mind. 'That was too much! That was too much all at once!' he scolded himself.
Bella-2 blinked slowly before talking. She wanted to give him a chance to talk more, in case he missed something. But when the silence got awkward again, she asked 'What's your name?' He was taken aback. He prepared so many answers for so many possible questions, but never considered a single question regarding himself. 'I-I am a Gh-Ghost. I w-will b-be your pa-partner from n-now on.' 'But Ghost is not a name!' she declared 'You gotta have a proper name if we are gonna hang out!' 'We-Well, a lot of G-Guardians n-name their Ghosts th-themselves.' 'Wheatley!' she blurted out without skipping a beat 'Your name is Wheatley now.' 'I….I never h-heard that n-name before.' 'Welp, me neither but I feel like it's important to me. So that will be your name now.' her voice was unshakable, stubborn but kind. He appreciated that. It was comforting.
She got up, stretched from top to bottom with a good loud crack in the neck and said 'So where are we going?' 'Wh-wherever you want.' She looked up into the sky, admiring the size of the sun towering over the planet. Before simply saying 'Let's head straight for now.'
And Wheatley followed Bella-2 into the unknown. The first of many adventures they shared in the coming years.
