FINAL CONCLUSION FOR BA3b
LO:12, LO:7
At the start of the year, i wrote a note that specified my aims fo the year. I subsequesntly lost this pic of paper until a week ago and as i look back i release that i have achieved exactly what i set out to achieve...
 It said “i want a well rounded portfolio that shows a variation in skills, and find ‘what i am about’ as a designer” .
I have done exactly this, with a confidence and strong skill base in photoshop in preparation for industry. I have a portfolio of fabrics that display vast skills level of many different textiles processes and a collection of drawings that represent the way i have developed my working style. I feel that my work within this unit is an expression of who i feel i have become as a designer, i am all about make making, textures within textile processes and strong colour palettes. 
I can confidently say that my final major project is refined and meets areas of all the learning outcomes and i have an online presence that displays a full picot of who i can be in the industry. 
Overcoming issues and working to demand has been something that i am really proud to say that i have dealt with successfully, this term has been tough for me in other unrelated areas of my life but i have overcome difficulties and thrown myself into my projects , forming 2 main collection that i am really proud of. 
I have gone a seed opportunities and live professional collaborations , this has all been about me preparing for industry , i wanted to know what it would be like to work to demand and refine outcomes quickly to keep up with the industry pace. 
In conclusion, i feel that i confidently say that i have designed and produced 2 strong collections that demonstrate a large skill base, these projects were tasks i set for myself to develop different skills that i felt i needed to develop in order to ready for the industry. Although i know i still have improvement , i feel more confident in applying for jobs knowing that i am able to work at their level in junior design jobs.

These are a list of a few brands that i am either inspired by or have contacts with, i am aware that this process may not get me anywhere but i feel that its worth a try and instead of focusing on New Designers, i have this and the degree show to put my focus on.

REJECTED FROM NEW DESIGNERS AND THE NEXT STEP

I am painfully disappointed that i didn't get in to New Designers , i have wanted to go since my visit there when i was 16 and knowing the NUA went there was a factor in me choosing the university. I have been working with New Designers in mind for the last 3 years and if I'm honest, this rejection has knocked my confidence in my design abilities and final major collection. 
In my feedback i was told i just didn't take the right work , this is really hard because i know that the reason i didn't get in was because of a selection of fabrics. I have been told that i have the perfect work and my pitch was really strong -  i just didn't take the perfect work to the pitch.
I felt that i confidently spoke and met all of the criteria, including being highly dedicated to the course, putting in countless 12 hour days and being there as much as i could be. I never went into the pitch thinking i ‘had it in the bag’ however i did feel that with my work, confidence in speaking to people and the clear commitment to the course, i would have been a positive representation of the University. 
MOVING FORWARD: I am now going to send out promotional packs that feature a cut of my fabric, some kind of small product that gives my work some context along with my CV, business card and personal statement. I will form a ‘hitlist’ of brands to send too and seek my own opportunities.

These slides acted as a talking point during my pitch. I have displayed an overview of what i do and in sight into the areas of industry i want to work in / target at new designers. I also spent time researching the competitions and awards available this  year and talked about how i would consider these briefs if i got in and was making new work for the show. 
I took a mixture of sheer devoré pieces and my childrens collection.

Each page of my portfolio acts as an introductory page to each collection i will take physical work of to interviews. I have also had the printed on highquality card so that i can transport them to interviews.

BUILDING A PROFESSIONAL PACK & WEBSITE
LO:11, LO:12
I have created a professional pack and website with a strict overall consistency. Us the same fonts: FUTURA - double spaced for titles and headers and HELVETICA- for all other text. 
I have consistent colours throughout and where i have added elements of drawing details, it has been delicate and not to distract from the information. 
This process has directly contributed to me securing collaborations and contacts with connections within the industry. I have had feedback about the look of professionalism across my professional profiling which has been really encoring as these processes are extremely time consuming.
WEBSITE: i am using Wix to develop my website, i am using the online presence as an online portfolio , this is not something i consider to be particular useful tot he general public but that is where my Instagram becomes instrumental in getting my name out there. These two platforms are reviewing lot of encouraging feedback and i am really proud of the designer i am becoming.

MÖDERNNAKED PROGRESS- UP TO HANDIN - EVALUATING SO FAR...
LO:7, LO:8, LO:11, LO:12
At the point of handing in my work, i am at the stage with MödernNaked where we are discussing costs and financial befits for myself and their brand. This has been a really exciting venture for me, i have learnt about how to communicate professionally as well as developing my own professional language. I have found it so much fun working to a brief and working to tight deadlines. This who,e process has made me want to explore even further areas of the industry in print design as i have built up my skill and confidence on photoshop. 
I have always wanted to work for brands that i believe in and MödernNaked have a string ethos and stand for exploring the beautiful outdoors and living a fulfilled , playful lifestyle. As this process with them develops, i hope to learn more and gain further insight into the industry, discovering all aspects of commission and demand based design.

FINAL DESIGNS SENT TO MÖ

These final designs have been developed using new drawings from the botanical gardens. I have explored a range marks and motif repeats while being conscience of the colours used. They were very positive about these designs and we are now in discussions about the costs and process of production.

I have developed a erie of digital designs from my drawings fro the botanical project. Their existing backpacks feature bold colours with contrasting dark backgrounds and pops of vibrant colour. I have kept this in mind when forming a collection of designs.

- My research file features research for the brand, however i have also been in lengthy conversation with them which has helped my primary research in developing a greater understanding of the brand and its ethos. This primary research has been instrumental in the development of design for this project.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

I have contacted a Spanish based backpack brand who’s ethos is based around being playful and exploring the outdoors. I asked about collaboration expecting a rejection but instead i received an enthusiastic yes. I am now working with them, sending designs back and forth to form a design that will be put into production for their autumn range. (a folder about the brand is included in my physical submission)
