âHow did [George] feel today, putting the success story into perspective? âI dunno. I donât feel any difference now from when it all started,â came the genuine reply. âSee â although success is good and I enjoy everything it means, I feel exactly the same about the group, the music and the audiences â in fact, life, generally â as I did when we were sweating away in Hamburg. 'Apart from the obvious differences, of course â like money. But letâs face it: physically Iâm the same bloke! I feel odd when people look up and point at me onstage, like they do with all of us now. It seems odd to think we are at the center of attraction because â you know, weâve gone through so much to get where we are. None of us look upon ourselves as stars. Itâs the other people who say weâre the stars. We donât. 'All we wanted when we started was to have hits and top bills and go on TV and make money. I never thought this sort of situation would ever develop â like everybody knows who we are and all that. It all happened so quickly, though, that I didnât get any chance to turn back â none of us did. Itâs a good job we all had the right sort of mentality to hold ourselves from going mad, with everything going on round us like it did. But itâs been great â what else can you say about this sort of thing when it happens to you? Itâs like winning the pools!ââ - Melody Maker, November 7, 1964

GEORGE: Ringo and I are getting married.
PLAYBOY: Oh? To whom?
GEORGE: To each other. But thatâs a thing youâd better keep a secret.
RINGO: You better not tell anybody.
âThey nearly didnât go on the Australian tour. George is a very loyal person and he said, âIf Ringoâs not part of the group, itâs not The Beatles. I donât see why we should do it, and Iâm not going to.â It took Brianâs and my persuasion to tell George that if he didnât do it he was letting everybody down.â - George Martin
âNeil [Aspinall] says they all agreed to it, but it was George who gave Brian the final push [on sacking Pete Best], as George was the one who was the biggest admirer of Ringo.â - Hunter Davies
"I love learning to play the guitar- with George as my teacher!"Â - Ringo Starr
"Heâs got the bluest eyes in the world!"Â - George Harrison
"I hate gardeningâŚI love him, but I hate gardening." - Ringo Starr
"Yeah. We just write the songs first, and then just shove âem in anywhere, as George said. Especially in the sunset scene at the very end of the picture, where the two loversâ thatâs George and Ringoâ are coming towards each other on the beach!" - Paul McCartney
