I had this really weird thing happen the other night: I was on the brink of falling asleep and I swear to god, crystal clear like it was in my room with me, I heard some Paul McCartney music that I had never heard before. To be fair, I haven't heard every song he's ever released (because there's like thousands of songs in his goddamn catalogue) but it legitimately sounded like new stuff. So now I think that my sleep paralysis demon might be old man Paul McCartney, testing out some new, unreleased music on me while I'm trying to sleep

I've always wanted a song written about me, but if it was like this, I take it all back.
"McCartney said when he first sat down at the piano he had the name Daisy Hawkins in his mind. He later changed this to Eleanor, after the actress Eleanor Bron, who had starred with The Beatles in the film Help! The character's surname at one stage was Bygraves, according to Spencer Leigh, author of The Beatles book Love Me Do to Love Me Don't. But McCartney later changed this to Rigby, from the name of a store he had spotted in Bristol - Rigby & Evens Ltd, Wine & Spirit Shippers. 'I just liked the name," he said in 1984. "I was looking for a name that sounded natural. Eleanor Rigby sounded natural.'" - From Tom Mullen's BBC Article, "The Beatles: What really inspired Eleanor Rigby?"

Good Evening Chicken Wings or whatever fans of this 70s band are called
For reference:
Tumblr media
Note that one of the members is Paul McCartney (this will be important later)
So, as you may know, I am currently slowly working my way through all the Beatles' solo material. I previously had extremely limited knowledge of Wings' music.
However, even silly ol' me hadn't escaped their timeless classic Live and Let Die (1973).
Except,
I don't really know Bond films. That's not where I know this beauty from, no.
No, as a child of the late late 90s, I first heard this banger in no film other than this cinematic masterpiece:

This is probably the most controversial Shrek movie. I unironically really like it, probably because of nostalgia. But let's not debate this here.
Now,
If you (unlike me), don't recall the exact plot of this movie, you may be wondering during which scene Wings graced the ears of a bunch of kids in 2007.
As it turns out, the song plays during a funeral. A very sombre scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(sidenote: I love how the animators couldn't be bothered to animate a black outfit onto Shrek so all he gets is a cape)
Whose funeral you may ask?
Well.
It's for the late great Frog King of Far Far Away Harold!
Tumblr media
All very normal, the Shrek-Verse considered.
But tonight, listening to this song I had a horrifying realization: The person serenading King Harold the Frog is none other than…
The Frog Murderer Himself.

And now I'm realizing that Shrek The Third (2007) never explains King Harold's passing.
Do with this information what you will.
