Alleyway - Mizu x Reader
Pairing: Mizu x Fem!Reader.
————————————^_^————————————
POV: Mizu and Reader need to run away from the armed men together.
Mizu's chest heaved up and down as she caught her breath from all the running around, her calloused hands pressed against the hard surface of the alleyway wall. Small puffs of air escaping her mouth due to the cold winter air as she intently watched the narrow opening of the alleyway she had pulled you two into.
Her sharp blue eyes watched the movements of the armed men through her orange-tinted spectacles, her tone hushed as she spoke "After the path is clear, we'll make our way out." Mizu said simply, narrowing her eyes before turning her head to look at you with furrowed eyebrows.
Of course, this wouldn't be a problem— if you two weren't pressed body against body in your shared and definitely cramped hiding spot, so close that you could see every little detail on Mizu's face and feel every small shift her tall form made. Mizu paused, as if she suddenly registered the sudden proximity between you two... this was going to be an awkward wait.
“Okay.” You whispered looking away from hers, feeling a little uncomfortable with the small place and the strange position you two were in.
Mizu paused, her brows furrowing as she noticed how tense you had gotten over the sudden closeness. In an attempt to help alleviate some of the stress, she took a deep breath as she adjusted her frame, trying to shift as far away from you as she could— which proved to be difficult.
You frown your eyebrows in confusion, watching Mizu move. “What are you doing? They will find us.” You whispered in an alert tone as picked up her wrist, in an attempt to stop her from moving.
Mizu stayed still as you grabbed her wrist— staring down at the movement of her hands in her lap before speaking slowly. She stared back at you before turning her gaze to the open area at the far end of the alleyway once again "I don't want to touch... you," Mizu whispered softly, a tinge of regret in her voice.
“What?” You whisper even more confused as you released your hand from her wrist.
“For your sadness, that's not possible by the fact that we are hide.” Respond by rolling your eyes, directing your gaze to the gaps in the wall.
She glanced over at you as she spoke, not turning her body to look at you directly. "You heard me." She responded quietly, her gaze shifting back in the direction of the narrow alleyway exit.
“Yeah...I heard you.” You emphasized in an annoying tone still looking through the gaps, avoiding eye contact with her.
Mizu's brows furrowed as she silently glaring at you back in your direction.
The samurai said nothing else, not even speaking when she noticed you avoiding looking at her. Instead, she settled for crossing her arms over her chest — waiting for you to speak.
You feel something burning next to you. Look confused when you notice Mizu staring at you. “What?” You asked confused by her body language.
Mizu sighed keeping her gaze on you as you spoke, though not making direct eye contact as she furrowed her eyebrows. "Look at me."
She grumbled out the words in a low tone, her voice sounding like she was irritated and impatient. You could see the slight twitch in her eye as she said this, her blue eyes narrowing slightly.
You roll your eyes when you hear Mizu's request. Directing your gaze at her, I arch her eyebrow. "I am looking." answered.
She stayed quiet for a moment, her jaw clenching as she grumbled under her breath and crossed her arms over her chest even tighter.
The samurai's eyes seemed almost fiery as she stared back at you, her gauze intense as she remained silent. A few seconds passed, as if she was contemplating her words, but eventually, she finally responded.
"Look at me properly."
“What does it look like I'm doing?” You tilt your head to the side, with an annoying tone in your voice.
Mizu stared at you for a moment, her frown deepening even further before speaking again in a low tone.
"Look me right in the eye." She said, this time a bit louder and in a tone that suggested it was an order instead of a request.
You take a deep breath and with the intention of ending the conversation, bring your face closer to hers, staring directly into her eyes. “Better now?” You whispered angry as you raised your eyebrow.
The samurai stayed quiet for a moment as she stared back at you, meeting your gaze firmly— her forehead creasing with irritation at your lack of respect.
You could see her jaw clench as she clenched her fists, the sound of her knuckles making a faint cracking sound. After a few seconds, she finally spoke.
"Good." She said quietly, her voice sounding slightly strained. She turned her gaze back towards the narrow alleyway entrance for a moment before turning back to look at you again.
You throw a forced and clearly sarcastic smile and then roll your eyes taking a deep breath. “When we will get out of this?” Whispered angrily.
"When I say we're ready to get out." The samurai replied slowly in a raspy tone, staring back at you with a slight scowl.
She kept her gaze fixed on you, keeping her arms crossed over her chest and remaining still as she waited for you to acknowledge her words and respond.
You let out a moan of dissatisfaction as you leaned your head against the wall behind you. “When? I don't think I can stand you too long.” You respond by taking a deep breath closing your eyes in frustration.
The tall one stayed quiet again. She stared at you for a few moments before turning her gaze back to the alleyway entrance again, staying silent as she waited. You could almost hear her breathing.
A few more minutes there in that tight and icy alley, you started to run out of air. Claustrophobia. You felt your body warm up as your heart accelerated.
“Fuck, I need to breath.” You whispered trying to control your breathing.
Mizu frowned as she remained silent for a moment, watching you nervously fidget and speak through the corner of her eyes.
“Calm yourself.” She finally muttered in a low tone, her expression not changing. “Or I’ll make you.”
“So gentle. “You respond sarcastically while keeping your eyes closed.
Mizu's expression tightened slightly as she stayed silent for a few moments before speaking again. She could see you trying to manage your breath and the claustrophobic feeling of the narrow alleyway— her eyes lingering on you as she watched your chest rising and falling.
"Your heart is beating awfully fast." Her voice was low and curt as she stared at you with a slight scowl. The samurai stayed silent for a few moments as she studied you, her gaze still firmly locked onto yours.
“Claustrophobia.” It was all you could whisper without your stomach wrapping up in front of you.
Mizu stayed silent for a moment, staring at you as you responded. She watched as you swallowed, your words sounding strained and breathless due to the panic setting in from the claustrophobic feeling.
The samurai watched you silently for a moment as your chest continued to rise and fall, your breaths quickening even further. Her voice was low as she spoke.
"Calm yourself." She said again, her words sounding like a command as she watched your breathing grow faster yet.
“That's exactly what I'm doing.” You respond irritated by Mizu's demand, while trying to take a deep breath.
Mizu stayed quiet for another moment, watching you nervously fidget and speak as you tried to control your breathing. She stared at you with a mixture of annoyance and concern.
"Breathe. More slowly." She finally muttered out the words, her tone making it sound more like an order rather than a request.
“If you're gonna keep telling me obvious things, then be quiet.” You answered a little more exasperated this time.
You could almost tell that she wanted to say something snide in response to your comment, but she managed to maintain her composure. Instead, she stayed silent and simply stared at you for a few seconds more before speaking again.
"Just breathe slowly. That's all you have to do." She finally replied in a low tone as she watched you still struggling with your breaths, getting slightly more agitated despite your attempts to focus on controlling it.
“Shut up. You're making me nervous.” You say lowering your head while focusing on breathing.
Mizu frowns as you responded again, this time in a more irritated tone. You could hear a slight hitch in her breath as she watched you lower your head and focus on your breaths. Her voice still carrying a hint of irritation.
“I’m not-“ The samurai cut herself off before finishing her sentence, realizing that it wasn’t worth responding to you.
A few minutes later, you raise your head and open your eyes slowly with your breathing almost stabilized.
Mizu watched as you finally stopped trembling and your breaths began to slow down, almost returning back to normal.
After a minute or so, she finally spoke again— keeping her voice low and calm. “How do you feel now?” Her tone sounded more sympathetic, her facial features softening as she spoke— her gaze staying locked on yours as she spoke.
“Good.” You respond by whispering, surprised by Mizu’s change of tone.
“Good.” She finally replied in a low tone, as if the comment was directed less towards you and more to herself. A soft smile appeared on her lips as she kept her gaze on you, though she stayed silent.
You feel your cheeks warm up when you see Mizu smiling, you turn your face towards the exit of the alley while cleaning your throat. “Is it safe now?” You ask in a low tone, avoiding looking at Mizu.
“No...” Mizu replied slowly, her voice sounding hesitant and a little uncertain. “There is still a guard out there.” She replied, her voice quieter now as she kept her gaze locked on the narrow entrance to the alleyway.
Her fingers tapped lightly against the hilt of her sword as she remained silent for a minute, clearly still tense and ready to move at any moment.
“Taking so long, I’m freezing.” You scored while watching the smokes come out of your mouth because of the temperature.
Her expression tightening as she heard the tone of your voice— being a bit more direct rather than the usual sarcastic one she noticed you used on other occasions. You could see the slight twitch in her eye as she watched you breathe out the fog.
“I’d rather you stay frozen than get shot.” She muttered out.
“I’d rather-“ You stopped talking after you could understand what Mizu said. “You what?” You whispered softly in a surprising tone.
Mizu sighed softly as her eyebrow raising for a moment. The samurai turned her head to look at you, her gaze lowering momentarily.
“I’d rather you stay frozen than get shot.” She slowly mumbled the words, her tone sounding almost like she regretted saying the words at the last minute.
“I get it what you said. I’m just...” You answered by rolling your eyes, without concluding your speech.
Mizu stayed silent for a few more seconds as she watched you rolling your eyes, she tilted her head with a vague hint of curiosity.
“Just what?” She finally inquired, her voice low as she continued to keep her gaze fixed on you.
“Surprise...” You answered by keeping eye contact.
Mizu continued to maintain eye contact, her gaze remaining firmly locked on yours. She could see an amused glint in your eyes, as if you were waiting for more.
Her brows furrowed and her jaw tightened slightly as she realized that she had let some emotion slip. “Surprised by what? ...”
For a moment you felt your breath panting. It wasn’t claustrophobia, for sure. Feeling slightly nervous about Mizu’s gaze burning in the direction of yours.
“By your capacity of empathy.” You whispered trying to keep your sarcastic tone, but failing miserably.
“I’m not exactly known for my empathy.” She muttered out, her voice low but there was a hint of amusement in her tone as well. Her gaze remained locked with yours as she kept quiet for a few seconds, seeming to contemplate something.
“Don’t tell me.” You replied by rolling your eyes with a fun smile wanting to escape from your mouth.
Mizu’s eyes narrowed slightly as she kept her gaze fixed on you, her lips twitching into a slightly amused smile. She took a quick glance down at her hands before looking back up at you.
“You’re enjoying this aren’t you?” She whispered out, her tone carrying a hint of amusement even though she tried not to let it show.
“Being locked here with you in this tiny hallway? I’m loving.” You answered sarcastically even though you knew that now the idea didn’t bother you anymore.
She smirked for a moment, her eyes flicking down to your chest— watching your breath. “You’re nervous.” She finally muttered out, her voice sounding almost amused.
“No, I’m not.” You respond quickly, changing the direction of your gaze.
The samurai frowned as she noticed the slight shift in your gaze and remained quiet for a couple of seconds as she watched you avoid eye contact. Her eyebrow tilted up slightly in surprise as she felt it again— the slight hint of nerves in your tone.
“Right.” She muttered out. The irony in her tone being so obvious that she hadn’t meant it.
“Shut up.” You answer by rolling your eyes.
“You’re blush-“ She almost said before stopping and correcting herself, her expression quickly changing into an amused grin. “You’re embarrassed.”
She stayed silent for a few more moments as she slowly lowered her gaze from your eyes and back to your chest. Her eyebrows furrowed as she noticed how much your heart rate was increasing from just her teasing.
“And you’re looking at my chest. Pervert!” You answer almost automatically, in an attempt to stand out in this little game of provocation.
Mizu’s mouth quirked up into a faint grin. You could see her trying to maintain a composed gaze as she gave you a teasing smirk that was almost mischievous.
“Oh, I’m just making observations.” She replied after a few seconds of silence, her voice carrying that same sarcastic tone.
“By looking at my tits?” You ask arching your eyebrow while smiling.
“I’m analyzing if you’re still breathing hard.” Mizu retorts almost immediately, her tone sounding slightly sarcastic as she maintained her gaze on yours, almost as if waiting for you to believe her or not.
“Hmm.” You answer embarrassed, turning your gaze to the exit of the alley.
She could do nothing but smile as you tried to hide your embarrassment, as if you were hoping that she wouldn’t notice.
A time in silence feeling the snow gently fall on you, you realize that that tension between you and Mizu almost no longer existed. Just the comforting silence filling you two. You shake your head agreeing as you turned your gaze to Mizu. A few minutes, you stop to observe her facial features.
“You know, you don’t look like a demon just because you have blue eyes.” You whispered seriously, but still soft.
Her eyes stayed locked with yours as she tilted her head to the side again, trying her best to not show her amusement this time. For a moment, her expression softened slightly before her eyes narrowed again and she quickly regained her composition.
“Do I not?” She replied softly once again, her gauze still lingering on yours as she remained silent for a couple of seconds.
“No...they’re beautiful.” You kept whispering interspersing your gaze between the two eyeballs.
This time, her smile couldn’t hide itself any longer as she stayed silent for a few more seconds, her gaze growing warmer and even more gentle. She blushed ever so slightly, a slight heat rising in her cheeks as she tried hard not to let you see it.
“Thank you.” Mizu replied quietly, her voice sounding sincere as she looked away again. Her gauze returned to the guard at the end of the alleyway, her eyes narrowing slightly as she sighed softly.
“You’re welcome.” You answer smiling sincerely, feeling now more comfortable in her presence.
Mizu’s hand gripped her sword tightly as she glanced back at you, but almost instantly looked away again.
“You must get complimented a lot...” She finally said after a few seconds of silence, her voice sounding slightly breathless from the slight blush appearing on her face.
“Me?” You asked widening your eyes slightly, in a surprising but still curious tone.
She tilted her head to the side again as she watched you respond, a grin forming on her lips as she nodded her head slowly. “Of course you do. You’re beautiful.” She replied softly, her voice sounding almost teasing but there was also some sincerity in there as well.
“You don’t have to compliment me just because I did it, Mizu.” You replied looking to the side, in an attempt to avoid her look.
Mizu stayed silent for a few more seconds as she noticed how you were avoiding her gauze this time, a hint of amusement playing on her lips as she couldn’t help but notice how flustered you were getting.
“I’m being honest.” She finally mumbled out, her tone almost too serious this time. Her blue eyes focused on yours as she stayed silent once again, almost as if she was waiting to see if you were going to believe her or not.
“Thank you, I guess...” You whispered raising your gaze to her face, a serene expression.
A faint smile still lingered on her lips as she continued watching you from the corner of her eyes. You could see her sword slightly moving up and down in her grip.
With an involuntary action, you reach Mizu’s hands and intertwine with yours. Mizu’s surprised look made you throw her a comforting smile, making the tall one relax all the tension she felt at that moment.
The guards had been gone a long time ago. But you two preferred to believe that you were still surrounded by armed men to have a reason to be close and take advantage of each other’s body heat.

Miso Soup - Mizu x Reader
Pairing: Mizu x Fem!Reader
Quote: Hello :) . First time posting something like this here on Tumblr, I apologize for any mistake and please be kind to me. 😭
————————————-^_^————————————
POV: Mizu doesn't admit her jealousy and you decide to share your Miso soup to improve her mood.
Mizu doesn't get jealous that easily. Why would she? She has never had a reason to.
She's on a path of revenge, seeking vengeance against the white men that made her this way, impure— But the way her lungs ache every time she sees you and Taigen laughing about something stupid or him blabbing his mouth off near you, just because you're friendly enough to entertain his hundredth story about a duel that he won. Is he really that entertaining to you, that he manages to make your mouth quirk up in that sickly, saccharine smile?
Can you blame her? How is Mizu supposed to not be jealous when Taigen, Taigen of all people gets to make you laugh and grin in such a sweet way? She hated it. She despised it.
Which is why—Mizu's eyebrow twitches in irritation, blue eyes that are hidden by her tinted shows following every movement and action in front of her with narrowed eyes. Watching you, again, raising your eyebrow playfully at whatever idiotic thing Taigen said to you, huffing to herself from resentment.
Her eyes were trained on you, not even noticing Ringo sending her a subtle look, before dragging off Taigen, both of them having a small, smug understanding of the situation. You don't seem to notice this, as you stop by a nearby stall to look at the intricate trinkets the merchant was selling. Before long, you feel a small, almost faint touch on your waist.
"Is he really that funny?" Mizu asks— no grumbles lowly, tilting her head as she looks into your eyes from under her kasa. She stands close to your back, her calloused hand having found it's way securely on your waist as she furrows her eyebrows. Was she... pouting?
You looked slightly at her lips when the pout was still apparent. Adorable. Turning your gaze to her eyes, a confused expression forms on your face.
“Who?” You asked as tilted your head slightly to the side, trying to decipher the question.
"Taigen." Mizu stated, almost sounding... irritated by the subject. "Is he really…that funny? He only babbles on about himself and his duels.." Mizu paused as a small frown appeared on her sharp lips.
"I do not see how you find him entertaining. He doesn't ever say anything funny, just brags. Yet you look at him and smile like that..." She stated quietly as she glared into your eyes.
“Taigen?” You asked digesting everything that the woman with the blue eyes told you. Little by little, you understood why she asked that.
“I find funny how pretentious he could be, he's definitely like every other man.” Replying by rolling your eyes smiling as you remembered how self-centered man can be.
Mizu huffed quietly to herself at the small response. She hated it, she really did. She had sworn herself to this revenge, and yet— the way you laughed when you and Taigen joked together... the way you smiled softly when he complimented you.
There was not a single moment in which you and Taigen weren't having fun or laughing and smiling, and she hated it. She hated that those pretty lips of yours were always smiling. "Is that it?" She asked, sounding almost disappointed with your answer.
Still confused by the topic of the conversation, you take a trinket from the tent and begin to observe the object as you prepare to formulate an answer.
“He's not funny, his egocentrism is.” You concluded by raising your gaze to face the tallest one next to you.
"You find his ego funny?" Mizu asked with an inquisitive tone. She had barely let go of your waist when she leaned more towards you, watching you closely and narrowing her eyebrows as if sizing your up.
She wanted to know the truth, not some sugar coated lie— but there was no need. You actually did find his ego funny, but that's not the point. "He never says anything funny, just brags and makes an ass of himself. But that makes you laugh?" She asked with a slight scowl.
Stop touching the object, for a moment you are silent digesting Mizu's persistent question. Putting the object again on the tent table you turn to Mizu, watching her face.
“It makes me laugh because all I could think about is if someone would be able to love someone like Taigen. He is definitely not interesting in a female gaze, at least not in my gaze.” You responds calmly, shrugging in the last part.
“Is this answer enough and enlightening for you?” You ask by raising your eyebrows.
"Does it not bother you that he is always trying to flirt with you?" She asked quickly, her voice sounding low and quiet. She tilted her head and continued questioning you relentlessly.
"That he's always touching you... trying to hug you or grab your hand." Mizu asked quietly as her jaw clenched from irritation, the muscles on her arm tensing up as she tried to hold herself back.
Frown your eyebrows with Mizu's question, now making sense of why they are having this conversation. You approach her slightly, noticing her irritation on her face.
“You jealous, Mizu?” Murmurs low just so she could hear. You tilt your head to the side in an attempt to see her face.
"Jealous?" She asked quietly, sounding both amused and irritated. Her blue eyes twinkled with a faint smile as she raised an eyebrow and scoffed quietly.
"No." She tried to push away the subtle flush that graced her cheeks. "I'm not jealous." Mizu paused, leaning back from you lightly as she sighed quietly.
"Taigen and his stupid flirting doesn't bother me." She stated quickly, sounding slightly irritated still.
Surprised by Mizu's stubbornness in not admitting that she felt jealous, you look to the side seeing Taigen in a Misô tent along with Ringo. Looking back at Mizu, you smiled with a false air of innocence.
“If that had bothered you, I would be willing to ask him to stop...” You started, staring at her to know her reaction. “But you say you don't mind, so neither do I.” You shrug a smile.
Mizu huffer quietly to herself as her cheeks flushed even more brightly. Her jaw was tensed, wanting to argue the point with all of her will but couldn't.
Why couldn't she just admit it? It was a stupid question, anyways. She was just a little envious that someone as handsome as Taigen liked you that much, was what she was going to tell herself.
"It doesn't bother me!" She repeated slightly louder, though it sounded more like a half-truth than anything.
You face her once again waiting for another answer, but as she was too stubborn to admit it, you just accepted that the answer Mizu gave you would be just that.
“If you say so.” Shrug deep sighing, moving away from the samurai and heading towards Ringo and Taigen, craving to eat Miso.
She watched as you walked off to Taigen and Ringo, and she wanted to follow, to argue some more about whether she was actually jealous or not. But she didn't. Instead, she just huffed quietly to herself as she looked down at the ground and closed her eyes with a small sigh.
Why was it so hard to admit that Taigen's flirting bothered her? Why did she care so much?
Still walking towards the food stall, you turn your face back in an attempt to find Mizu's eyes, but all you could see was her looking at the floor. In a heavy sigh turning forward again.
“Hey guys, already chosen the food?” You ask smiling excited as soon as you get closer to Taigen and Ringo, receiving a kind smile from both of them.
Taigen nodded briefly at you as his grin widened and he put an arm around Ringo gently. "We got the pork miso." He commented, sounding more than a little flirty. He even smiled more widely which was enough for you to catch onto the fact that he was trying to get your attention.
“You coming with us?” He asked— but this time his words were focused solely on you, as though he ignored Mizu's presence completely approaching.
You face them both and smile, agreeing. “That's sounds good. I think I want one.” You speak approaching the bowls, bending slightly to smell the soup while closing your eyes.
Taigen smirked as his eyes wandered to your exposed back, and before you could even do anything about it, he came up behind you and grabbed you by the hip, wrapping his hand around your waist like some sort of jealous boyfriend— and he held you close. He even leaned down, placing his hand in the small of your back which made the two of you even closer.
Opening your eyes widely surprised by the sudden touch on your back. You look back and see Taigen next to you smiling, frown your eyebrow confused by his act. Through your peripheral vision, you see Mizu behind him observing this whole situation.
Keeping eye contact with Mizu for a few seconds, you quickly take Taigen's hand out of your body, getting up completely. Looking at the man inside the stall and smile politely while placing your order.
Taigen looked at you in surprise as you ripped yourself away from his grasp, and he watched as you ordered politely from the person running the miso stall. He smirked awkwardly and glanced over at Ringo, probably expecting him to say something witty, but the big one just hummed in disagreement.
Mizu continued to watch the whole scene quietly, not making any reaction. She did, however, observe the fact that you refused to let Taigen touch you, as if his flirtations actually bothered you.
Taking your bowl and bowing in thanks to the man, you turn towards the three who were waiting for you. Ringo and Taigen already had their bowls in their hands, only Mizu who didn't ask for anything.
You approach Mizu, while putting a portion to your mouth, letting out a moan of satisfaction. “This tastes amazing. Here, try it.” You say rolling some noodles in the chopsticks and raising it to the height of Mizu's mouth.
Mizu hesitated when you raised the bowl above her, her eyes narrowing. She was about to brush it off and simply turn away but then suddenly her curiosity got the better of her. Mizu slowly lifted her head and cautiously opened her mouth, ready to bite into your offering. She took a small piece of the meal that you offered to her and bit into it, chewing slowly.
Seeing Mizu leaning so close to your hand made you feel a growing heat on your cheeks. Cleaning your throat by putting the chopsticks inside the bowl.
“Good right?” You whisper afraid of your voice getting weak if raise a tone.
Mizu swallowed the piece of noodles in her mouth, nodding quietly as a small smile appears on her lips.
"It is, very good..." She stated quietly— though there was no trace of any awkwardness or embarrassment from her tone of voice. Mizu's eyes glanced to the side, not willing to meet your gaze for long. There was a slight blush spreading across her cheeks, but she tried to force the color out of her.
Also looking to the side, you realize that Taigen and Ringo were already out of your field of vision, getting lost in the middle of the stall.
Turning your attention to the bowl, mixing the soup a little more. “If you want to, I can share with you my meal.” You say shrugging while still staring at the food.
Mizu didn't want to admit that she was liking the attention you were giving her, that she felt her heart completely warm. She wanted to be close to someone, but at the same time she was hesitant, scared of getting close because it always ended in pain. So in the end, she would just do the opposite, distance herself from people.
She paused for a second as she noticed the two of you were now alone by the miso stall. "I would like that..." She said quietly, her tone of voice showing a small amount of vulnerability.
“Right.” You whisper smiling, as you took her hand and guided her to a bench further away.
Without realizing it, your action implied a new direction for the relationship of the two of you. Making Mizu felt seen, felt important in some type of way.
