Bullshit. If you get called racist, you're racist. Period.
-a WHITE girl who tries to fight a system composed of institutionalized racism
being called “racist” isn’t an insult or something mean that people are saying to you because they want to bring you down. if you’re being called racist you shouldn’t be brushing it off because you “can’t see the haters” you should be assessing your behavior, your language, and mindset for signs of prejudice, discrimination, and sympathy/support for unfair and violent treatment towards racially persecuted people in your country

To all of y’all complaining about the “businesses”:
EVERY BUSINESS (especially major corporations like CVS, Exxon and Shell) have what we call “property/damage insurance”. Therefore all this “looting” and damage y’all screaming about is PROTECTED. That’s right. They are already on the line with the construction companies for the rebuild. All of their inventory is protected too! As well as employees. There’s a fund for issues like this that will keep an employee paid during reconstruction.
Now tell me what kind of insurance we have to get Freddie back? I’ll wait.

Everyone is moving along! After my 'duh' moment of realizing I only needed two stanzas, I ripped through setting my piece. It's ready to proof now! *SQUEE*

Check out this then come back for my take on the story!
Hoe. Lee. CRAP.
This guy was criminal. Yes, I get not wanting your hard work to be devalued and stolen by others. This is a problem designers today have to CONSTANTLY deal with. Heck, my friend, Linzella, found one of her student pieces ripped off by a blog a few years back. We want others to not just appreciate our work, but show that appreciation by paying us, allowing us to create more work for them to fan-girl over.
But, this guy? This Cobden Sanderson? He's just a straight up tool. He wasn't being screwed out of profit by others stealing his work and calling it their own or using it to make their own better. He would be DEAD before anyone gained any access to his typeface, whether legally or not.
And let's be honest, he wasn't so much concerned with his work being miused as he was with his legacy not getting full credit, with his name being forever given the full honors he thought was due to him. He was scared of mechanized printing, not because he thought it destroyed the soul behind the work, but because it made him and his ilk nearly obsolete.
Welcome to the club, buddy. You think I like the fact that any idiot with 20 bucks a month can use Adobe and declare themselves a designer when I have poured literal blood, sweat, and tears into my work? No! But I don't throw a damned tantrum and get Anonymous to hack Adobe, killing all subscriptions but those I deem 'real' designers. (Which isn't a bad idea, even if totally illegal and immoral.)
This designer was obviously so wrapped up in himself, he lost sight of why we create in the first place. Not to communicate, even though that is an obvious side effect. No, we create to share something we love. When you're more concerned with your legacy and not the craft, that's when you get thousands of pounds of lead sitting in the Thames.
Don't be a Thames-dumper. Be an artist.

Manic Monday
I am an idiot.
I spent all this time the past two weeks trying to figure out how I am going to fit four stanzas into a 5"x7" space.
Now my classmates tell me I don't have to use the whole poem! ARGH!
I spent the rest of the class finishing setting the second stanza and then spacing the lines to get an irregular rhythm. I need to double check them today and then, HOPEFULLY, I can do my first proofs!
I m super excited to finally get some ink on the page. I am still debating on how I want to do it, though. I am thinking I will make the type at a right angle, then lay my paper down at an angle, so it is easier to set the furniture up around it.
Well, off to work I go!

And, immediately after I took these, my composing stick got dropped, with an entire stanza of poetry on it. Fuck. It was totally my own damned fault too.
