We are a duo of filmmakers loving and working together since 1994. We earned raves for our first feature film North Sea Texas (2011) and our second Souvenir (2016) starring Isabelle Huppert. In close collaboration we cover different aspects of filmmaking from writing and producing to art direction and directing. We are happily married since 2012.
Bavo and Yves earned raves for their feature films North Sea Texas and Souvenir starring Oscar nominee and Emmy Award winner Isabelle Huppert.
After working as a decorator for Peter Greenaway, Bavo established himself with a series of award-winning short films. He has studied Video Art at the Luca School of Arts in Brussels, and the Script Development course at Binger Film Lab in Amsterdam.
A Master of Art History who also studied fashion, Yves started his career as an assistant to the Curator at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. Yves also worked as a Film Costume Designer and Press Officer.
The duo proves that good things happen when people pair up. As filmmakers, they love intense character development and stories about identity. Unspoken desire, and the power of nature play a prominent role in the sensuous visual universe they dream up.
An elegant ode to fading dreams and the possibility of second chances, their sophomore feature Souvenir (2016) channels Eurovision glamour into an unlikely romance. Their debut North Sea Texas tells the story of Pim, who’s growing up in a Belgian seaside village in the 1960s, dreaming of his hunky neighbour, Gino.
Bavo and Yves have collaborated on a number of commercials, including the music video Anger Never Dies by Hooverphonic. With Souvenir the duo marked their debut as lyricists. Songs from the soundtrack, such as Joli Garçon, were released by the American band Pink Martini on the album Je dis Oui!

I learned an awful lot from working with Isabelle Huppert, and I think of myself as a much better director now than I was before we started shooting Souvenir.
