You need to leave, you can't stay. You've forgotten how to do it - how to set your roots, how to unpack the moving boxes. Staying too long isn't an option, the steady thrum of mixed curiosity and dread always propelling you forward. You've burnt all your bridges, leaving a trail of shattered connections every time you leave. But still you can't stay, can't even sit still. You tire of life as it happens, wishing you could quit your job and just become something else - anything at all. You've forgotten how to make a place into a home, feeling content only in novelty, at home only on the road.

||I don't like bringing this stuff to my blog repeatedly but I feel the need to repeat myself.

If you are NOT a black person or person of color yourself and you call characters like Raihan "feral" or characters like Leon a "himbo", please stop because whether you are aware of it or not, you ARE perpetuating a stereotype about people of color. ESPECIALLY if you treat that as the sole writing point for your character. What you are doing IS a microaggression at the LEAST, because your language is perpetuating a stereotype that BlPOC are less educated (or incapable of learning) or more violent/savage than white people.

Media is NOT excepted from valid critique, especially when it is rooted in racist stereotypes. If you ARE a white person, you NEED to examine your own biases and educate yourself ON those stereotypes and WHY they're harmful, and if you refuse to do that you can't expect people of color or black people to give you a pass on that. Point blank, period. Do better. Intolerance is NOT going to be tolerated and it shouldn't be expected to be. Period.

And IF critique coming FROM someone in one of those communities makes you uncomfortable, you need to examine WHY. If you're uncomfortable, is it because you HAVE been guilty of perpetuating those stereotypes in the past? If so, don't DEFEND yourself, rather know that you were/are uneducated, educate yourself, and be a better advocate to oppressed communities in the future.||
