I've already been soured regarding RP in FFXIV thanks to an FC representative telling me "yeah the lore doesn't work that way" despite me being completely new (it's been a week) and open to criticism. I understand some FCs are extremely lore-compliant and having a Padjal OC might be a bit odd but the irony of a veena having a JP name & grilling me about lore is so hypocritical.
Maybe the semantics or nuances of the situation are silly to care about but... I was so excited. I was so ready. I wanted to meet new people and instead I decided to put my favourite OC who I've been working on for a long time and was finally ready to bring forth .. to the side.. maybe permanently. I feel so embarrassed, ashamed, and stupid.
I didn't expect to get handed lore that's openly on the wiki sentence after sentence during my interview. I would have been fine being given feedback about how my character could be considered potentially lore-breaking or just told they don't fit the aesthetics of the FC. Pretty ironic considering it was a pirate/merc FC but me writing a Padjal that wants to flee what's been forced upon her will "never leave Gridania." Thanks for deciding that on my behalf.
I don't know. I'm not upset about anything except the hypocrisy, the unwelcoming behavior, and the lack of feedback. I know no one OWES me feedback or a positive experience but honestly, maybe I will just stick to writing headcanons on my own. I'm so sad after this experience and now I'm too scared to bring any of my characters to light in the open-world at all.
