7 Best Places To Visit In Paris France
Paris is a huge city with a rich history, with many places to visit, but my advice is to start with these 7 best places I have chosen for you.
"When good people die, they go to Paris!" Are the words of the great Oscar Wilde. Well, Paris is hardly exactly Paradise. If you deviate from the famous tourist routes, you may find it even a little dirty, crowded and quite noisy. However, the charm of the "City of Love" is irresistible.
In Paris you can see some of the most famous architectural structures ever built by man, such as: the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Champs-Elysées, etc. But the great charm of this city, at least for me personally, is due to its radiance. It is hidden in the small details that attract romantics from all over the world like a magnet. Small details, such as cobbled streets and beautifully arranged trees. Cozy cafes and pastry shops on every corner. Belle Époque-style breweries, avant-garde art galleries open to art and artists from around the world.
1.The Eiffel Tower
This is perhaps the most famous architectural monument in the world, the emblem of Paris. Today it is hard for us to believe, but when it was discovered, the tower was described as "terrible" and "monstrous".
The Eiffel Tower was designed by Alexander-Gustave Eiffel and was built for the Paris Exhibition of 1889, held in honor of the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. The facility consists of 15,000 steel sections fastened together with 2.5 million rivets.
At 307 meters high, the tower remained the tallest architectural structure in the world until 1931, when the Empire State Building in New York (381 meters) took away its championship.
The Eiffel Tower has three levels, the top of which is located at a dizzying 276 meters. You can get there by a panoramic elevator, which is taken from the second level. And the view from the top is: "WOW"!
Practical tips:
1) Book your tickets in advance so you don't have to wait in line.
2) Visit the Eiffel Tower in the evening when it is lit and looks! Unique! In about 15 minutes you will witness a light show.

2.The Louvre
The magnificent palace, once home to French kings, is now an amazing museum of art. In his yard is the famous "Glass Pyramid" designed by Leo Min Pei in 1917.
The Louvre has more than 30,000 works of art - from antiquity to modern times. It is impossible to see everything in just one visit or one day. Therefore, I recommend that you focus on a specific gallery. Among the most attractive are the galleries of classical sculpture, the Italian Renaissance, the French artists of the 17th century.
And don't miss the biggest "star" of the exhibition: "Mona Lisa" (a.k.a. "The Mona Lisa") by Leonardo da Vinci!
The exhibitions are divided into three departments: Denon, Richelieu and Sully.
Work time:
- from 9:00 to 18:00 every day except Tuesday
- until 21.45 on Wednesday and Friday
Closed on January 1st, May 1st and December 25th.

The Louvre Palace itself is a landmark of impressive architecture. It is surrounded by the Tuileries Gardens, one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Paris, by the famous landscape architect Andre Le Notre. The park has perfectly structured trees, decorative water pools and nice benches where you can sit to enjoy the beauty around you (or have a quick breakfast :).
3.Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral
Notre Dame Cathedral (Holy Mother of God) is a triumph of Gothic architecture. It is located in the heart of Paris on the island of Cité in the Latin Quarter. This island on the Seine is the historical and geographical center of the city.
On this small piece of land, the Celtic tribe of Paris created the first settlement, and then the Romans built the Gallo-Roman city of Lutetia, from which Paris was born.
In the later period, from the 6th to the 14th century, the island was the residence of French kings.
Notre Dame Cathedral was built in 1163 by King Louis IX (St. Louis) and Bishop Maurice.
The whole construction lasts 150 years. The style is early and late gothic.
The ornamental design of the facade will immediately grab your attention. The abundance of sculptures, flying buttresses and gargoyles will take your breath away.
The interior of the sanctuary is a huge arched space, the most distinctive part of the interior are the beautiful stained glass windows. I recommend you pay more attention to the pink window in the north transept. This is a unique work of art containing 80 Old Testament scenes inspired by the Blessed Virgin.
Every Saturday and Sunday from 19:15 the cathedral offers a special audio-visual show, which takes place on a tulle screen with a size of 100 sq.m.
Admission is free.
Opening hours: Every day from 8.00 am to 6.45 pm, except on Saturdays and Sundays, when it is open until 7.15 pm
Be sure to check out the 21 figures in the Gallery of Kings who lost their heads during the French Revolution (the heads are on display in the Clooney Museum).
Interesting fact: There is a belief that if you turn on the square in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, you will return to Paris. The question is: do you want ??
Unfortunately, on April 15, 2019. this great Cathedral is suffering a terrible tragedy… A fire broke out in Notre Dame, the reasons for which are still unclear.
After a long struggle with the flames at night, the fire was contained. Fortunately, 2 of the iconic towers and many works of art preserved in Notre Dame have been saved.
5.The Arc de Triomphe
The Arc de Triomphe is dedicated to the victories of the French armies of the Revolution and the First Empire. Napoleon ordered this mighty structure to be built in 1806, but did not live to see it completed in 1836.
Designed by JF Chalgrin, the arch includes larger than real-life reliefs of figures depicting the departure, victories and glorious return of French armies.
On the inside of the arch are inscribed the names of more than 660 generals and more than 100 glorious battles.
The observation deck of the arch offers a panoramic view of the 12 avenues (boulevards) radially located from the square "De Etoal ..
Work time:
- from 10:00 to 23:00 from 01.04 to 30.09
- from 10.00-22: 30 from 01.10 to 31.03
Price: 9 €
6.The Basilica of the Sacré-Coeur (Sacred Heart) and Montmartre
Visiting this God-pleasing place is one of my fondest memories of Paris.
Climbing the sacred hill of Paris, Montmartre, where the Roman Catholic Basilica is located, is an adventure.
The cobblestones winding like serpentines in the Alps, the streets are very beautiful - especially in summer when the roses are blooming. And when you climb the hill and see this architectural work of art in the Romano-Byzantine style, you will understand why it is called the "White Church". It really is dazzling white!
It is built of a special type of stone, calcite, which releases white matter when it rains. This guarantees the famous white color of the basilica and the eternal purity of the Sacred Heart.
Montmartre Hill is the second highest point in the city (after the Eiffel Tower) and from the stairs in front of the church there is a beautiful view of Paris. Without a doubt, one of the best places for selfies!
7.The catacombs of Paris
“Stop! This is the empire of death! ” reads an inscription just before entering the catacombs. You need to know that the queues in front of them are long and the experience is a bit eerie, so if you are sensitive and uncomfortable with tight and humid spaces / suffering from claustrophobia - think before you embark on this adventure. If that doesn't scare you, act boldly!
In fact, these catacombs appeared after a protest by Parisians who were against the large cemetery in the city. This led to the creation of this "landmark", as all the bones and skulls were moved here - the bones are nearly 6 million people, which creates the reputation of the catacombs of "the largest cemetery in the world." The corridors are about 2 km long and are located about 20 meters below the streets of Paris.
Their official name is "Public Ossuaries", but they are known as the Catacombs of Paris.
Opening hours: 10 am to 5 pm every day except Monday
Price: 8 euros (discount for persons under 25 from the EU - 4 E); children up to 12 years - free
