due to me talking abt Connecticut basil because I think it’s funny, I will also talk about where I actually think omori takes place.

the question is: which state?

1) let’s take a look at weather (mainly snowfall and estimated temp)

this image from the official omori calendar is for the month of January. In the following image, I found the amount of snowfall in this image in inches via hero’s most likely canon height when this image takes place:

the snowiest city, which had 18 days of snowfall in janurary was Rochester (NY) which gave 27.4 inches of new snow, giving an avg of 1.52 inches of snow each time. this is a really stupid estimate, and we don’t know anything abt specific dates— only images of specific months. No photo album photos have snow in them, and the only photos taken in the winter in omori don’t show the outdoors so we can’t use that for help as far as snowfall goes.

snow is kind of useful, at least to narrow down the states that have 3 MONTHS with snow in them.

these are the images for January, feburary, and December. snow in December is only visible through the window behind everyone, which seems to actually be the same Christmas as the one in the photo album because not only is sunny wearing the same damn sweater, he’s also still playing the new violin. AND!! basils photo album has ONE image poking out of it, likely being the one he just took because he just got the album that day. it feels obvious but im pointing all of this out because im really excited. Christmas tree is the same, stocking is in the same place, etc etc you get the point.

for the northeast (which includes New York), February actually is often the snowiest month. and in the February picture, it’s still snowing obv. But for march, there isn’t snow!!!! and before you get all pissed at me, while NY can get snow in march, it’s usually only for 1-2 days.

it does NOT snow in November (see below) tho it is cold enough to warrant a jacket AND sweater at the same time.

Also. I don’t want omori to be in NYC. or in New York at all. Im just writing all this, and everything is kinda pointing to it and it makes sense to me. unfortunately . I actually want it to be in California or washington or Oregon. I don’t think it’s in NYC, I actually think it’s in a random ass city in New York that nobody cares about. makes more sense to me.

it’s also hot enough in the summer for sunny and aubrey to BOTH sweat despite not doing manual labor in the summer. The average person sweats at about 89° F, which makes sense with New Yorks summer weather usually reaching idk like just under 90° or so.

2) plants and such

yeah yeah of course I’ll bring up plants who cares. anyways, omori (in faraway) has random deciduous trees. and for deciduous trees….deciduous forewsts take up about 45% of New York as a whole. im not gonna do the thing where i find out what kind of tree i think it is, because it doesn’t really matter and they weren’t made with an actual type in mind. If you look above, the November calendar actually shows deciduous trees!!!!!!! so!!! fight me. there aren’t very many plants in omori to go off of, in truth. even with all the flowers, those are houseplants and basil is a little bitch so he WILL take care of them. whatever

3) dialect

If you get mad at me for this or say it’s a stretch, i will throw up and cry. so for hero’s name, he is actually named after the SANDWICH. hero sandwiches are just sub sandwiches/hoagies, but it’s what they’re called in New York specifically, though it’s also common for them to be called subs there too. hero’s NAME isn’t hero it’s just his nickname. he doesn’t really have a canon real name, but some people (including myself) consider his real name to be Henry because that’s his name on the old rpgmaster. That’s off topic sorry.

anyways this can’t be because idk, hero and kel are from New York or something. in Gino’s, they sell sub sandwiches and they call them hero sandwiches too!!

conclusion

I think it’s so easy to just say omori takes place in New York. it really is. I don’t want to because I would def prefer to just say it’s in California/oregon/washington but grrrrrr….ok whatever omori is in New York. I guess. Whatever. this is so stupid. im gonna say New York in this, but i will not actually believe it. stupid
