ive been checking out some of the lyric translations and it's not looking good for any of these guys

hi everyone. been a minute huh? well. ive listened to the clips of the new character songs. and i have ranked them based on how easy it is to listen to them if what you want isn't mainly just to rotate your sad little guy in your head and contemplate his agonies.

now before we go in i want to be clear that that's what they're for and one should go in expecting that rotating your sad little guy in your head while you listen to it is the bare minimum of what these songs should accomplish. but this is my ranking of how much they bring to the table beyond that fundamental purpose

azul. the energetic brass is surprisingly danceable. this is a song you can kind of bop to. the most "normal" listening experience in this selection

riddle. this one's fun to listen to. without being able to understand the lyrics it kind of feels more like being threatened with jail time than an invitation to listen to his problems

idia. the insistent techno beat and the fact that he's fucking rapping gives you a lot to pay attention to besides his brooding anime hotboy soul

malleus. honestly kind of digging the symphonic metal vibe but this is where we start getting into Oh Yeah Hes Really Brooding Huh territory. not that he hasn't earned it

jamil. i was tempted to be more generous with this track because of the massive restraint on display here compared to how things usually go for scarabia musically speaking, but just because this doesnt sound that much like the desert level in a video game doesnt mean it isn't very very obviously a song that exists for you to listen to while you make an AMV in your head about what it would be like if you met blorbo from your phone games on a dark night and he had problems but he held his hand out to you because he knew you would understand………..

vil. you follow the sound of this music into the library of his gothic mansion. "i didn't know you could play the piano" you say. he offers to teach you. the stool is only wide enough for one person so you have to squeeze right up next to him. youre so distracted by his beautiful hands that you keep making mistakes and he has to guide your fingers with his. your eyes meet,

thanks for reblogging this and making me think about it again everyone. wow. the other thing i think it's important to bear in mind about this, like apart from how vulnerable kalim is around jamil 24/7 and how easy it would be for jamil to hurt him very badly if he decided he was going to do that, is that every other person who has wanted kalim out of their way for whatever reason HAS tried to kill him. in his experience of the world, going straight to trying to kill him doesn't take an exceptional degree of provocation. from kalim's perspective jamil's restraint is borderline saintly

it would be sooooo easy for both jamil and kalim to turbo ruin each others' lives and they both know that and they also know they won't do it. they've hit the point where it would have happened if it was going to and they watched each other not pull the trigger – like i think it's acknowledged less than how immediately and completely kalim forgives him and refuses to tell their parents or anything but jamil was having a mental breakdown over how pissed off he was about everything and the extent of his evil mind control plan was still "make kalim leave school" instead of uhh . actually fucking him over in any serious way! like i make fun of kalim for being like "he had loads of opportunities to hurt me and he never did, i trust him" but like. he is kind of right tho. obviously what DID happen would be friendship ruining shit for anyone normal but. he is still kind of right! they've got their hands around each other's necks and neither of them is going to squeeze! but they aren't letting go either! they should! but they aren't!
