“Hey Geralt,” Lambert cackled. “Your college boy is here.”

Geralt growled, elbowing Lambert in the chest as he continued stacking bottles behind the bar, ignoring the flush of embarrassment over his ears and the back of his neck as he bent to his task with forced casualness. Outside, Geralt could hear the rumble of a passing bike, a muffled laugh from Eskel, then the creak of the front door swinging open, flooding the dim bar room with the bright midday sun.

Then he stepped in, followed by the smell of sugar and the tell-tale scent of Alpha.

“Oooh,” Lambert said somewhere behind Geralt’s shoulder. “Donuts! Did you bring enough to share with the class, college boy?”

“Getting my second PhD, but yes, technically I guess I also went to college,” Jaskier said, bemused, and Geralt turned around with a sigh.

Jaskier, with his sweater vest layered over a floral patterned shirt, looked as out-of-place as ever in the grungy biker bar. Geralt was irritated with the way his heart lurched as Jaskier drew near, something that had been happening far too often as of late. Goddamn Omega hormones. Never mind that Geralt’s body had never reacted this strongly to an Alpha before.

“Miss me?” Jaskier asked, with a smile Geralt was sure Jaskier thought was roguish and charming, but which actually looked dopey. It was a stupid question anyway. They had seen each other not three days past, when Jaskier had fucked Geralt stupid in the bar bathroom.

“No,” Geralt lied, half-heartedly wishing that he’d booted the upstart Alpha the first night he’d set foot in the Wolf Den.
