Lore update: they got engaged and adopted a cat named Spatula. The cat hisses at everyone and is obsessed with a toilet.
They used to live in a haunted house. But Subaru bit an evil ghost. The game glitched out and somehow let her be two occults at once. So now the evil ghost is a werewolf AND a ghost, and is constantly rampaging. So I just turned off the haunted house function to avoid dealing with that mess.
Unreasonably invested in my sims, so time for a lore dump.
My sims are Shane Stellar, and Subaru Tenkai. Shane is the heir of my main household, and the son of my gay cowboy sims. Subaru is the descendant of my vampire royal family.
Shane is a witch. He has an older sister, and an older twin brother. Despite being the quiet, scholarly type, he's still a country boy who loves getting his hands dirty from time to time. He grew up on a ranch in Chestnut Ridge.
He's one quarter Selvadoradian, and three quarters Innisgreenish. His father Harris is a fairy, so he inherited a fairy eye color. His estranged grandfather is Oberon Dagdan, the fairy king of Innisgreen. Oberon hates that his grandsons are witches, so he mostly left them alone.
As a child, he'd visit his grandmother in Brindleton Bay. He fell in love with the town's sleepy charm and constant rain. He'd often visit the restaurant his grandmother owned, and wondered if he could run his own business one day, too. He would eventually discover an interest in the science and artistry of mixology.
As he grew older, he turned out to be a very talented witch. He developed a strong interest in the occult and supernatural oddities. This lead to him pursuing a career as a freelance ghost-hunter, helping people out with their hauntings. He'd take any haunted objects and add them to his personal collection.
He's currently looking into starting up his own bar, using the money he earns from ghost hunting. Would an occult-themed bar be too on the nose?
Subaru's the only child of human Hikari Tenkai, and human Hikaru Tenkai. Hikaru was the estranged son of Ravenwood's vampire king, Vernard Sanguine. Subaru is one quarter Selvadoradian via his grandfather, and three quarters Mt. Komorebian.
He spent most of his life in Mt. Komorebi. But every summer, he and his family would vacation to Selvadorada for their father's work. There, Subaru fell in love with Selvadoradian's history and culture, which then lead to a love of anthropology.
But word spread of the Sanguine's non-vampire family. Seeing them as a potential weakness his enemies could exploit, he sent a werewolf to attack them while they were vacationing in Brindleton Bay. The werewolf killed Hikaru before making its way to Subaru.
Shane happened to be passing by when Subaru was killed. Shane revived him with Dedeathify, which was against the Council of Occulture's strict rules on playing with life and death. Because of this, Shane was hit with a curse that prevented him from using magic until Subaru. Shane was heartbroken that he lost his powers, but still felt that he did the right thing.
Subaru was quick to meet up with Shane and thank him. With WooHoo. And it turned out that the two got along incredibly well. They quickly started dating.
But there's a couple of obstacles getting in the way of their love. First, Subaru was bitten during the attack and is now a werewolf. He's especially dangerous due to not being a natural-born, purebred werewolf; he has less control over his abilities than most. And without his powers, Shane is vulnerable should Subaru fly into a rampage.
The second obstacle: Subaru's grandfather is willing to begrudgingly accept a vicious werewolf for a grandson. What he won't accept, is his grandson dating the grandson of the fairy king. The two kings have been enemies for hundreds of years, and both of them see a potential union being used against them. Imagine if one's lineage chose to side with the other instead of them; it'd be humiliating. So both fairies and werewolves despise this union.
Currently, Subaru is a teacher at the local community center. He teaches courses on foreign cultures and beliefs, specializing in Selvadoradian Culture and Archaeology. He'll occasionally cover Mandalanism; a Tomarani belief system based around the Medium and Wellness skills.
Assorted Trivia
Subaru snowboards whenever he's back in Mt. Komorebi. He used to board all the time growing up. Sadly, Brindleton Bay has no snowy hills for him to work with.
Subaru's father didn't approve of him being gay, and often pressured him to hide it. His mother didn't care for him being gay, but at least accepted him. He loves being around Shane's family because they're way more open and understanding.
Shane's brother, Weston, owns the family ranch and is also a professional horse-rider. His sister, Lacey, is an aspiring actress. Shane's fathers, Rowan and Harris, own the ranch, and Rowan also makes and sells pottery.
Weston is currently dating a Nordhaven woman named Gertrude. She's from a notable werewolf family. Guess the twins have a type. And by pure coincidence, Gertrude is also a twin.
Shane and Subaru's house is haunted. Shane loves it. Subaru is less enamored with the idea. But as he practices Mandalanism, he's equipped to deal with spirits.
Subaru is a dom top, and likes to walk around the house naked. But he had to stop with the nudity after he realized the house is haunted.
Back at the ranch, Shane would take care of the chickens. His favorite animal was a rooster, named Lobster.
So what I'm thinking is, I'll have the two run a bar. It will replace the Salty Paws Saloon

My gay ranchers and their animal family
Rowan Stellar and Harris Humble live on a ranch in Chestnut Ridge. Since I'm playing a rags to riches story, it's still pretty basic.
Rowan is a witch from Innisgreen. Son of the Fairy King, outcast from his home, yadda yadda. Long story. Anyway, he's the main breadwinner, selling his pottery to people in town.
Harris Humble is Rowan's boyfriend. He's a fairy. Originally grew up in Innisgreen, but had his memory wiped and spent seven years in Chestnut Ridge, yadda yadda. Long story. Point is, imagine he has a Western accent.
He does small community jobs around town, but his specialty is in animal care. Thanks to Rowan earning the big bucks, Harris can maintain the rest of the ranch.
Every day, Rowan makes them breakfast and dinner. Harris doesn't need to eat, but it's a nice tradition that keeps them connected.
For lunch, they either skip out to work on the farm, or go to the Oak Barrel bar in town for a meal.
When Harris first landed in Chestnut Ridge, he was found by Don Gooseman. The old guy took him in, taught him how to ride horses and got him to work.
Even now, when Harris is an adult, Don still likes to check up on him. He's taken a liking to the ranch's horse, too.
Tornado the horse is the ranch's first animal, and one they saved up for. He's a rescue horse. Despite having the Defiant trait though, he's always been well-behaved.
He's Harris' baby. Rowan takes care of him, too. But Harris and Tornado have a strong bond.
Pirate is a stray horse the game generated. She happened to be nearby when I needed a horse for pictures, and Tornado hadn't aged up yet. She isn't part of the household, but she stops by sometimes.
Henrietta came after Tornado. They got her because chickens are low-maintenance compared to most other farm animals. She's Rowan's favorite. Henrietta favors him over Harris, who she likes to peck at now and again just because she can.
They have a baby sheep, and the baby of the family. Her name is Chiffon, and she's a spoiled baby. Despite locking the gate to her side of her farm, she keeps breaking out and visiting Henrietta.
And finally, there's Dusty the Dust Bunny. Technically the second Dusty, since I used a spell to get rid of dust in the house, but accidentally got rid of the first Dusty alongside it. But let's just ignore that.

Idk. She loves her daughter, but I feel like she's also traumatized the shit out of her.
Mystique has raped at least 3 of her friends, including her now-husband Gambit. In fact, didn't she try to frame him as a pedo to break him and Rogue up?
She also basically groomed her into being a supervillain, but I count that as good parenting because it let Rogue attack the Avengers
