Hoseok pulled up in front of Seokjin’s apartment and shot him a text to let him know that he was there. While he waited, he absentmindedly drummed his fingers against the steering wheel to the beat of some girl group song he had stuck in his head. Suddenly, there was a knock on his window, causing Hoseok to squeak and jump in fright. He looked up to see Seokjin laughing at him. He rolled down the window.
“Hyung,” he whined. “It’s not funny.” He pouted at his hyung but that only succeeded in making the man laugh harder. Hoseok’s heart skipped a beat as he listened to him laugh. This was the first time he was hearing Seokjin laugh and it just sounded so out of place coming from him. After a while, Hoseok couldn’t help but join in. Passerbyers probably thought they were insane just laughing in the darkness, but neither man cared. Finally, Seokjin managed to calm down and he wiped away tears.
“You look so cute when you’re scared, Hoseokie,” he cooed, causing Hoseok to flush. He hoped that Seokjin couldn’t see his red face because of the dim lighting.
“Um, wanna hop in?” Hoseok gestured towards the other side of the car. Nodding, Seokjin walked around the car and slid in the passenger seat. As he was buckling his seatbelt he looked up at Hoseok.
“So, are you gonna tell me where we’re going yet?” he questioned.
“I told you, hyung. It’s a secret,” Hoseok replied. “I promise I’m not gonna take you somewhere to kill ya.”
“Wow, reassuring.” Hoseok flashed him a smile before driving off. It wasn’t a terribly long ride, maybe only fifteen minutes. They chatted about their days and before they knew it, Hoseok pulled up to an abandoned building. Seokjin looked at it in concern. “Are you sure that you’re not gonna kill me?”
“Nah,” Hoseok said matter-of-factly, “I like you too much, hyung.” Seokjin went quiet after that and when Hoseok looked over to him, the man looked a little embarrassed. “C’mon, hyung.” Hoseok grabbed a folded blanket from the back and got out of the car. He waited for Seokjin to follow suit.
Hoseok pulled out his phone to use as a flashlight and gestured for Seokjin to follow him. He could see that he was struggling to walk over the rubble so he reached over and grabbed the man’s hand, tucking the blanket under his arm. Hoseok led him through the building towards the stairs and then they were climbing. After a bit, Seokjin started to complain about his thighs hurting so Hoseok reassured him that they were almost there.
Finally, they were stepping out to the roof and Hoseok turned off his flashlight. He let go of Seokjin’s hand to spread out the blanket and sat down. He looked up at a confused Seokjin and patted the blanket beside him. Hesitantly, Seokjin sat down.
“Are you gonna tell me what’s going on? What is this place?”
“This is kinda my special place,” Hoseok explained. “This is where I go when I get too stressed. I just kinda sit out here and stare at the city.” He gestured in front of them where the city lights shined. “I’ve never shown anyone this place,” he confessed. “Not even my friends know about it. But I wanted to bring you here.”
“Why just me?”
“You’re the first person I’ve ever fallen for. I’ve been with a ton of girls, but I never felt anything for them. But just seeing you for the first time was enough. I don’t wanna say that it was love at first sight because that seems silly, but it kinda was.” Hoseok looked away from the city to look at Seokjin. The other was already staring at Hoseok. “I don’t really have a lot going for me when it comes to romance, so this is all I got. I’m just a boy with his special place who is totally in love with you.”
Seokjin’s mouth was open in shock and the two of them just stared at each other for a few moments. Hoseok’s eyes took in Seokjin’s face. He could stare at his face forever. His eyes unconsciously slid down to the man’s lips and he just stared.
“I really wanna kiss you,” he confessed. He could hear Seokjin’s breath hitch.
“What are you waiting for?”
“Consent.”
Then suddenly there were lips on his own. Hoseok’s eyes widened in shock before sliding closed. Hoseok all but sighed into the kiss. Seokjin’s lips were soft and pillowy against him. It was a simple kiss but it left Hoseok dizzy as they pulled away.
“I think I’m done deciding,” Seokjin said simply.
“Yeah?” Hoseok questioned hopefully.
“Should we break the news to Namjoon?”
“What news?”
“That we’re boyfriends.”
“We are? Since when?”
“Since just now.” Hoseok laughed breathlessly.
“I don’t remember agreeing to this.
“Oh, shut up and kiss me again.”
And so Hoseok did.

Hoseok waited almost impatiently inside the coffee shop for Seokjin to show up. He was nervous. His palms were already beginning to sweat and he felt hot in his jacket. Like he’d told Seokjin earlier, his friends were like his family so he felt as if he was introducing his boyfriend to his mom. Not...not that Seokjin was his boyfriend or anything. Yet.
Hoseok flushed at the thought just as Seokjin walked into the coffee shop. God, Hoseok will never be prepared to see Seokjin in person. He was just as beautiful as he was the day they’d met. Hoseok gave the man a shy smile and a wave. Seokjin stopped in front of him with a small smile.
“Hi,” he said softly. Hoseok’s tummy erupted in butterflies.
“Hi,” Hoseok replied. Hoseok stared at the man for a moment, forgetting all about the reason why they were there before Seokjin cleared his throat.
“So, uh, where are your friends?”
“Oh! Um, they’re actually not here,” Hoseok explained. “They’re waiting at the skate park just across the street.” Seokjin’s mouth opened in an O as he nodded.
Hoseok motioned for the other to follow him and he led him out of the coffee shop. They walked the short distance across the street to the park and entered. It was getting late so it was hard to see, but Hoseok had navigated the park plenty of times in pitch blackness so this was no problem. Hoseok checked behind him numerous times, mostly to make sure that Seokjin was still following behind him but also just because he couldn’t stop looking at him. He walked them to the slope where he and his friends hang out most often. Hoseok could make out two figures near a light and walked towards them.
Yoongi and Namjoon were talking when they approached and stopped to look at Hoseok and Seokjin. Hoseok saw something flash over Namjoon’s face but chose to ignore it.
“Hyung, Joon. This is—“
“Hyung?” Namjoon interrupted. Confusion flashed over Hoseok’s face. Namjoon wasn’t looking at Yoongi, but was instead staring at Seokjin. Hoseok looked at Seokjin and saw that the man had a confused and shocked expression.
“Namjoon?”
“Wait,” Hoseok said as he stared between the two. “You two know each other?” Seokjin grimaced.
“Yeah, we—“
“We dated,” Namjoon supplied. “He’s the ex I told you two about.” Hoseok felt anxiety in his tummy as he looked at the two. They were still staring at each other like Hoseok and Yoongi didn’t even exist. This was supposed to be Hoseok introducing the guy he was interested in dating to his friends but it ended up being Seokjin and Namjoon’s reunion.
“Um,” Hoseok started hesitantly. He almost didn’t want to interrupt the two men. Whatever was happening between them seemed so personal and Hoseok suddenly felt like he was intruding. “So I guess I don’t need to introduce you two.” Hoseok laughed hollowly but no one joined in. Seokjin and Namjoon haven’t looked away from each other. “Seokjin hyung,” he called quietly, feeling small. Finally, the man turned away and looked at Hoseok. He gestured towards Yoongi. “This is Yoongi hyung.” Seokjin nodded his head in a greeting, which Yoongi returned. Then he was looking back at Namjoon.
“God, it’s been—“
“Years. It’s been so long, hyung,” Namjoon said. His eyes flicked over to Hoseok. “So you’ve been talking to Hoseok?” Hoseok could almost hear the jealousy in his voice. Seokjin looked down and almost looked embarrassed. Embarrassed at the fact that he was talking to Hoseok. Hoseok felt himself grimace.
“Ah, yeah…” Seokjin said, almost hesitantly. Hoseok felt out of place so he moved away from Seokjin to stand over by Yoongi. His hyung looked at him.
“You okay?” he whispered. Hoseok gave him a tight smile and chose not to reply. He continued watching Namjoon and Seokjin as they started talking to each other. They had moved on from Hoseok and were talking about what they’ve been doing since they’d last spoken.
Hoseok suddenly couldn’t watch them anymore so he looked down and kicked at the rocks on the ground. He could feel Yoongi’s eyes on him but he didn’t want to look up and see sympathy. Suddenly Yoongi moved towards Yoongi and Namjoon so Hoseok looked up.
“Hey, it's getting late so we should probably head home. It was nice to meet you Seokjinssi.”
“Oh, yeah, it is late,” Seokjin said. “It was nice meeting you. Namjoon, it was nice seeing you again.” He looked at Hoseok and looked almost guilty. Good.
“Hyung, do you still have the same number?” Namjoon asked. Seokjin nodded. “I’ll text you.” Everyone said goodbye and left, leaving just Hoseok and Seokjin alone. Seokjin grimaced as he walked up to him. “Sorry about that, I--we got carried away.”
“Nah, it’s, uh, fine, I guess.” Hoseok tried to smile but it felt tight and fake on his face. “Oh,” Hoseok said as he remembered something. “What was that thing you wanted to tell me?” Seokjin was hesitating, Hoseok could tell. He’s not stupid. There was something that the man wasn’t telling him and he feared that it was because of Namjoon.
“Oh, it was nothing. Totally not important.”
