Hello and welcome to your local one-stop Bandom RPH! As a small part of the RPC, we noticed that sometimes it could be a bit of a struggle to get the resources we needed. This blog is a way to share resources you request as well as ones we believe could be useful for promoting active, diverse, and inclusive groups within our community. We are no longer operating, but feel free to use our blog as an archive of resources. mobile navigation

If youâre reading this, it means that our queue has officially run out of posts. We wonât drag this post out for long, but we wanted to make an official announcement:
bandgirlsrph will be closing its doors indefinitely, effective immediately.
Yes, you read that correctly. We have spent time mulling over this decision and we came to the conclusion that this would be best for us both as neither of us are still active participants in the bandom community and havenât been for a while. We may decide to come back in the future if we feel up to it, but itâs unlikely. We will leave the blog up as an archive of resources, but know that no further resources will be reblogged and our ask box will be turned off to prevent from further requests or shout outs being sent in.
This blog has been open for a long time, and our experiences with it have been both good and bad. Regardless of that, we want to thank you guys for allowing us a platform and giving us an opportunity to help you with your roleplaying needs over the past nearly two years. This is the Nine-Nine, signing off for the last time.

There is a lot going on with this theme, so I caution those who arenât comfortable with HTML and CSS. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message! As always, please do not use this theme or any of itâs elements as a base, remove credit, etc, and like or reblog this post if you happen to use it.

PART ONE: BASICS
Hey all! I want to start off this series by first stating that there is no ONE way to write any identity, let alone Black girls. This guide is mainly about things you need to know and things you need to avoid, not what you should write. With that said, letâs get into it!
Also, I want to add that this post applies to both cis and trans Black girls. Both identities are extremely unprotected and neglected (trans Black girls even more) and this series aims to help alleviate some of the misconceptions that come with the portrayal of the Black girl in media. Thanks!
Stereotypes
What Do I Do If My Black Female/Femme Character is X?
Angry
Hereâs the thing no one tells you: itâs okay for Black girls to be angry. Yes, I said it. You know whatâs not okay? When anger is their dominant personality trait, because, frankly, anger is not a personality trait. If your character is always angry, ask yourself why? Donât make your Black girls furious more often than every other character for no reason. Justify their anger. Show that in that context, it is okay for them to be angry. Have other characters say it. And then let them be happy. Make them smile, let them be gentle. Let their other emotions outweigh their anger. When you think about the character, the first thing that comes to mind shouldnât be their anger.
Maternal
For years weâve seen Black women portrayed as the nanny, the wet nurse, or a single mom. Yes, some Black girls do fall into these category, but that isnât all they are. Some women donât want children or donât have a maternal bone in their body and thatâs fine too. Not all Black women like children and want to take care of their own/other peopleâs children. Of course there are Black girls that want children and arenât single mothers or have a bunch of different children by different fathers. Black girls deserve the same treatment as any other race and not thought of a baby factory. Try giving your Black girls character some other prominent characteristics so theyâre not just restricted to being the maternal one.
Strong
Good! Black girls are strong! The thing is that Black girls are portrayed as strong so often we forget theyâre just human. Donât show that theyâre strong all the time. Allow them to be protected by others. Itâs fine to portray able-bodied/neurotypical, cishet, white women as strong because theyâre only withheld by misogynistic standards. Black girls are constantly unloved, abused, and mistreated in media. There needs to be more characters that show that they can be loved and cared for and validate the existence of real life Black girls.
Additional Things
Black girls donât necessarily talk in AAVE all the time. Give variety. Have girls that talk in AAVE and others that donât.Â
Black girls arenât always outgoing. Many are extroverted and friendly, but others can be shy and reserved. Write both.
Happy writing and get excited for part two by checking this tag!

advice for writing a stutterer from an actual stutterer;
okay no shade at all I just want all of u to learn and grow and become better writers! so hereâs a handy tip list!
we donât stutter on every word. okay, sometimes it can seem it, but honestly, we donât, so leave a few words in there to give your readers some breathing room.
we stutter more on specific sounds. for me, f and s sounds are big ones. everyone has their thing and most stutterers have sounds that are harder to get out.
we donât just stutter at the beginning of words and sentences. okay, honestly this is a big one for me. sometimes, a word starts off really well and goes down the drain at the second syllable! and the stutter doesnât disappear once weâve made it past the first word - it clings in there, so donât forget it.
some of us donât always stutter. some, not all, of us have whatâs known as an anxious stutter, which generally comes alongside anxiety disorders. so, while it may be usually present, when a person with an anxious stutter is particularly comfortable with a situation, it tends to get better (or even almost disappear).
we donât stutter when we swear. this is why some of us can stutter and stutter and stutter on a word and then shout fuck and everythingâs cool. as far as science knows, this is because swearing is from a more primitive part of the brain, and so it bypasses the bit that makes us stutter! itâs so cool honestly.
we donât stutter when we sing. the biggest two reasons for this one is 1) music comes from a different part of the brain to talking (language=left; music=right), and so it once again bypasses the stutter, or 2) âeasy voiceâ, which is the voice that people sing in, is softer and smoother, and the sounds are longer so thereâs less opportunity to stutter. either option is way cool but we donât stutter when we sing.
sometimes, we give up on words. after a certain amount of stuttering on a certain word, you may see a stutterer take a deep breath and either try again, or replace it with a synonym. sometimes that word just wonât fit right in our mouths!
we hate it when people try to guess what weâre trying to say or try to speed us up. this might be a more personal thing for me, but thereâs nothing I hate more than that clicky sound people make or the weird hand gestures or being told to âspit it out.â because we canât control this shit and it gets tiring. itâs better just to let the person get it out and take their time with it, so when youâre writing, keep this in mind!
it gets worse when weâre anxious or stressed, and when weâre excited! I get really really stuttery when Iâm enthusiastic about the topic of conversation, because I know so much about that thing that I try to talk really fast and my mouth canât keep up! itâs the same when Iâm anxious or stressed - when thereâs more on our minds, the more everything gets a little muddled.
I hope this was helpful! feel free to add on and spread around!

This is the same writer talked about in these posts.
Iâm pretty sure I see the writer going around the community again, so I figured Iâd reblog this just in case so people can be aware before accepting.
hey psa to the bandom community (and maybe even all throughout the roleplay community). there is a writer that goes by lacey that plays jared padalecki that might be applying in your group. for the sake of the comfortability of yourself and your group, please turn her away. she constantly harasses writers. she was recently kicked from the group i was in due to complaints from fellow writers.Â
im sure sheâs aware of her reputation in the community so she might change her name and character but sheâs roughly around 30 years old. for someone her age, it shocks me that she acts very childish. if you turn her away or deny her app, she will pretend to be someone else and message you from a different blog (maybe google hangouts) pretending to be someone else and say that her âfriend has been harassedâ she makes it obvious that itâs her due to her countless spelling errors (thatâs not much of a problem) and probably constantly messaging you if you dont respond right away.Â
so yes! please be aware of her!Â

In early observance of the annual International Transgender Day of Visibility, I present to you all: my non-binary and transgender faceclaim directory!
The directory is currently sortable by gender and ethnicity (broadly and regionally).
Now, Iâll present a few points:
The main objective of this directory is to introduce the RPC to faceclaims that have not yet been used by the vast majority of its members. It may also inspire us resource makers to create content for these faceclaims that others can use.
This directory is a perpetual work in progress. The faceclaim count currently stands at 70, but I will continue to update it as often as humanly possible.
If you would like to contribute a faceclaim or two, please message me! Iâm open to all suggestions. My goal is to establish a vast array of non-binary and transgender faceclaims hailing from all genders, ethnicities, and regions.
Please, if you answer any FC help questions or make any resources and use this directory as a reference, be kind enough to provide credit. This has required a lot of research and time and I would like that to be recognized.
Thank you all for your support! Iâm thrilled to reach 500 FOLLOWERS (!!!!!!) and look forward to introducing the larger project for which this directory will serve as a stepping stone.
