His defensive stance deflated as she started preparing the concoction, watching with narrowed eyes. Bål was always impressed with this human’s casual demeanor with any audience — she would be a perfect candidate for conversion if he didn’t already know she was otherwise engaged. He took the drink and inspected it briefly before taking a sip. “Huh,” he exhaled a small puff of steam from the icy beverage hitting his ghoulishly fevered tongue. His eyes met hers again, staring in the way he always does. “Too cold,” he admitted with a flash of almost a smile, holding the cup out as an offering.

Flavor? Admittedly, he didn’t really know what the machine had to offer. His eyes darted from the machine, to the cup in her hand, up to settle on the friendly face. Humans were always so… helpful, this one especially. It was nice, but unfamiliar — as were options, in general. However, her amused expression didn’t go unnoticed, and he crossed his arms over his chest defensively. He took another beat to stare her down before, “You pick.”

He shrugged as acknowledgement of her demand as he stuck a straw into the blue slush and took a sip. Although his face was, as usual, concealed by his mask — the immediate distaste for the liquid was obvious in his demeanor as a shiver ran up his spine. “Sour.”
