After having its world premiere at the @filmfestmunich, ‘Calidris’ arrives in Berlin today! I feel extremely honored to be part of this project. Directed by @peteazen, the film tells the story of Jane and Carlos. Like so many others, they were attracted to NYC with the promise of a better life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That's why they've left their home country, Brazil. Yet as immigrants, they don't have all the opportunities that the American dream implies. Their search for a new and better life represents that of all the immigrants who dare to attempt a fresh start in another country. The moment you get inside of Clarice Lispector's wild heart you are invited to experience literature on a sensorial level. You are free to choose who to follow, where to go, how much time you spend in each room and, to be a spectator or an active participant. As Lispector gently reminds us: "Getting lost is also a way".

Clarice's Hour - December 10th, 2017 at PUNTO space with Group .BR #groupdotbr, NY's only Brazilian theater company, is once again partnering with Moreira Salles Institute from Brazil to bring to New York Clarice's Hour (Hora de Clarice). The event, created in 2011, celebrates the birthday of the Brazilian iconic writer, Clarice Lispector. The company will present art installations and performances from its latest show, Inside the Wild Heart, an immersive theatrical experience based on Clarice Lispector's work. The special guests Katrina Dodson, translator of Lispector's Complete Stories, and Rebecca Ariel Porte, Ph.D. in English Language and Literature, will discuss the short stories Mineirinho and The Egg and the Chicken. Clarice's Hour is supported by Moreira Salles Institute, Punto Space, Natura Brasil, Leblon Cachaça and Materials for the Arts. Tomorrow! Last Saturday rehearsal. Masks of the Quotidian focuses on identity and representation of Brazilian women living in Queens. Projeto Máscaras do Cotidiano - quebrando os esteriótipos sobre a mulher brasileira nos Estados Unidos. Join us for an evening of dramatic readings, photography, and wearable sculptures. Masks of the Quotidian is a multidisciplanary exhibit inspired by interviews with Brazilian women living in Astoria, Long Island City and Woodside. The focus of this exhibition is to explore how Brazilian women are stereotyped, what they do to break these stereotypes, what "masks" they wear in order to assimilate into American society, and how they see themselves once they've immigrated. A collaboration between @camsrecnyc Camila Santos, Viviane Aquino and Keka Marzagao. Performances by @mattedifabiana Fabiana Mattedi and Yasmin Santana✌🏽 Free!!
