Broken Leaves

As the moon departs the morning arrives,

But the sun is late and the dark remains.

The dark remains and the cold stays too

Biting the skin of my fingertips

But the cold is inviting, it calls me to come

For she brings gifts, not curse

She brings colours of red and orange alike

And the peaceful fall of nature's fruit

At last our harvests find their end

And mark the beginning of winter

But let us not mourn the loss of summer

And instead celebrate Gaia's new season

And as the sun departs the evening arrives,

The Summit

Breath ragged and palms cut

I push up past the final ledge

A battle won, at last

The atmosphere is cold, thin, unforgiving

My lungs are starved, breathing shallow

I no longer shake deaths hand,
