Our governor here in Nebraska got bucked off his horse a couple days ago and injured in ways that would have killed the average insurance plan holder, but his life was saved by the finest free politician healthcare that taxpayer dollars can buy. Meanwhile, I wonder how many patients with life-threatening injuries or illnesses were sent home from the same hospital with no care or treatment because their insurance wasn't about to cover anything.
Incidentally, Luigi M. Was getting perp-walked past a phalanx of heavily armed NYPD into a kangaroo court for a killing a single insurance CEO, a crime he very likely did not commit, at the exact same time Gov. Jim Pigfarmer Racist Ass Ex-UNL Regent was getting emergency surgery being paid for by my very own tax money.

I feel like people on Neocities are putting too much emphasis on the ILLEGALITY of emulation; like, to the point they're creating crime where none exists: the idea that even TALKING about piracy is illegal. At the very least, they're instilling a sense of fear of breaking the law, and at the worst they're espousing the corporate feudal ideal of thoughtcrime. It depends on how you take it, obviously, but either way it doesn't bode well.
One of the things I've always tried to get across in all of my talk about data preservation is the existence of abandonware. This is an area of copyright law where you're pretty much completely safe downloading ROMs and ISOs. You'd be surprised at how much totally mainstream stuff this applies to! Every game ever made for the Nintendo GameCube! The original version of The Sims! Other stuff! Basically, if it isn't sold in stores or available from some DLC service or another, it's abandonware and you can download it without worrying about any sort of repercussions.
A widescale crackdown on emulation like the RIAA witchhunts from the turn of the millennium isn't very likely to happen, because if that fiasco taught the corporate feudal state anything, it's that copyrighted material is on too many computers in too many far flung locations for piracy to be totally stamped out. Nintendo talks a big game about anti-piracy in order to scare people into not going to downloadnintendoshit.eggsalad.rom and downloading their entire roster of NSO+EP games. Their shareholders are not going to accept an expensive plan to stop all emulation everywhere all at once because of the pop-up nature of pirate sites. They simply do not have the time or the money to continually play Whac-a-Mole with emulationists. And, when they DO eventually get 'round to suing someone, it's the operator of the server where that stuff was stored in the first place.
"Oh, but the FBI--" Forget it. When they passed the USA PATRIOT Act, no one really realised just how much data a human being generates in a day. Especially with the advent of social media. The federal spy agencies get literal EXABYTES of data dumped on them every single day, and there's no AI process in existence that can possibly parse through all that information in a timely enough manner to do them any good. They have to pick and choose what they pay attention to, and there are a lot more threatening targets than some rando from the sticks torrenting No-CD cracks of Electronic Arts games.
We all need to get real comfortable REAL FAST with breaking the law, especially in the US, UK, and EU, because a LOT of new crimes are gonna come up in the next few years relating to data and online privacy. If the corporate feudal theocratic complex can convince you that emulation is a serious crime, it won't take much more goading into making you treat privacy as a crime, too. Once they've done this, they've won. If the first step against total destruction of personal privacy is playing Nintendo games on your computer, then WHY ARE YOU RESISTING IT?? Holy shit, why is this still something we need to talk about?

ELYSIAN TUNES is 10 YEARS OLD - and i bear gifts! <3
Today's December 23rd, and you know what THAT means? No, not "christmas is tomorrow" - Elysian Tunes, the net"label" and virtual "band" i'm running, is ten entire fucking years today! And you know what i have just in time for you to put on and kick back? Not one, but THREE megamixes of the bestest etunes stuff from across the decade!
The main hour-long set is mostly insane upbeat stuff that most of y'all are here for. The two complimentary mixes are sexy plasticore juke princessness and an uneasily cozy vaporwave-ambient collage, respectively. Happy birthday to elysian tunes, kind of to me, and hope you enjoy!!!

If you see articles and tweets about how the Star of David is now a symbol of fascism and think to yourself "maybe they have a point," then whatever you define as your antizionism has absolutely crossed the line into antisemitism
The Star of David is one of the most important symbols in Judaism. The fact that it is on the flag of Israel does not make it fascist. The government of Israel is separate from the symbol. Labeling such a widely used symbol by a marginalized people as fascist is incredibly dangerous and seeks to conflate Jews as a whole with the Israeli government- something antizionists continually claim people shouldn't do. So why are some doing it?
High control groups slowly ease you into believing nonsensical things. They provide "reasoning" and "logic" which goes largely unchallenged within echo chambers. People in these echo chambers are prone to believing it because they start to see it as real logic instead of bigoted, twisted reasoning. Even otherwise intelligent people can fall for their prejudices as they begin to view it as a form of justice
It is a fantasy that high control group leaders go from 0 to 100 in five minutes or refuse to answer any questions- they are usually much more manipulative
Please confront your biases. The Jews are tired

I think it's this way for a lot of trans people, but it just occured to me personally that of the reasons i pursue non mainstream knowledge and try doing a lot of stuff myself is because knowledge and craft don't care who's learning or making! Talking to people, organizing stuff, etc etc, even being active online, it's (98% negatively) biased by being transfem at least to some degree. But modular synths don't give a shit who designs or plays them, laws of physics don't care who coaxes them into making funny noises, programming languages don't give a shit what you are, only about what you type out, ya know? I guess if the world was more usual towards me, i would turn out a bit more usual, too, for better or worse.

I just saw a post that was like. You should always follow your instinct!! Your friends do hate you!!! And like. No?? Do not do this. To yourself or to your friends. Especially with super close friends. Your friends love you. It's why we are friends.
If you're really worried about it. Ask. And I get it. I'm autistic too. It's hard and you notice little changes and you overthink it but. I get busy. Things happen in my life. And I always have to tell myself life happens to everyone. Even if it's hard to see outside your lense.
Tldr. If you're worried. Ask them or talk to them. If you're right. I'm sorry. That sucks but you don't want to be friends with someone who isn't compatible/ mean to you anyways. You'll make new friends. You'll make better ones. I did.
And. Trust your friends.

"why isn't there any good LGBT rep in games??" because you don't use itch io and don't believe art made by smaller teams is worth anything or you think nsfw art is an inherent moral failing. Go play a 20 minute porn game made by a depressed transfem lesbian and then maybe you'll calm down
#my friend fron neocities made a game called gates of aquarius#she says its still a demo but people are already making letsplays about it

I was at a bookstore looking through the art section and I saw a spine that said The Camden Town Nudes which was interesting because this didn’t seem like the bookstore where I would ever find something like that and I wanted to have a casual look but like. This also wasn’t exactly the bookstore where you felt like you could look at naked pictures let alone just suggestive paintings of them, it’s a really small shop as well, so I was like right I’ll just take a quick peek, I’m an art student, I love history, maybe I’ll buy it. I looked both ways and saw the shopkeep had left momentarily and no one was about, so I opened it and found it was an entire book featuring nude Edwardian women all painted by Walter Sickert between 1905-1912 and it was actually quite a revolutionary set of paintings for its time given that it featured very raw depictions of working class nude women in dark London instead of the elegant, white bedsheet clad, Demure middle and upper class women usually depicted.
And of course RIGHT as I flip to this lady’s boobs practically taking up an entire double page spread, every customer in a 5 mile radius appeared from around the corners of the shelf including the shopkeep and immediately regressing to a wet, pathetic Edwardian man from 1908, startled, I dropped the large book which caused a giant SLAP on the floor in this already silent store thus causing all patrons to look down at me scrambling on my knees to close a giant book of Edwardian boobs and let me tell you it would not have been nearly as funny had I not immediately felt like some Edwardian local pervert who just tried to sneak a cheeky peek at the erotic book in the bookstore only to drop it dramatically causing a scene, red up to his ears trying to shove it back on the shelf. Like such a casual and normal thing in modern day but looking at Edwardian women suddenly turned it into this egregious act as I apparently became possessed by the spirit of a moustached man in a bowler hat and morning coat going Good Heavens I mustn’t gaze upon these images in public lest the constable haul me away!

It's my birthday!
This has been the worst year of my life, but the best part of it is that I made so many new friends on here. I used to delete my blogs when they reached a certain amount of followers because that had always intimidated me, but this time I can honestly say the steadfastness and support and compassion of the people I've come to know drowns out any petty harassment I've seen.
Not that friendship comes with a price, but I want to ask you, if you've ever learned anything new from my blog, and you ever felt you want to give back to me, please donate to my friend Amal (@amalashuor)'s campaign. A little peace of mind about her very difficult current situation would be the greatest gift.
She is vetted here at #175 on @gaza-evacuation-funds' list

Please support this campaign for Gaza's children and elderly! It's spearheaded by a father in Gaza who works hard on distributing aid within his camp. Getting a supply of diapers is especially critical because they're costing $65-$75 per pack and so parents are resorting to makeshift cloth diapers that are giving their babies rashes.
(Ignore the end of the video where I tell people to comment, that's for algorithmic platforms, here you can just reblog)
