Being raised Catholic and finding out Protestants think you can go into heaven by just believing hard enough and not bothering to help people explained alot of why Protestant ethics are so closely tied to American capitalism not going to lie. I know there’s alot more there but that sorta just summed it up for me.

Catholic school sucked for dozens if not hundreds of reasons but they at least said “Hey you should help your immediate poor neighbors* (*Don’t think about imperialism or any of the politics behind missionary work) and try to be a good person you can’t be redeemed by faith alone” sometimes.

No wonder American evangelicals (offshoot of protestantism btw) are comfortable being the devil incarnate they think they got a free pass to partake in the worst of American Imperialism and bigotry as its part of their faith that if they do warhammer rules with faith it’s fine.
