I'm watching this 2011 British YouTube channel on history of sacred herbs, they're talking about a hallucinogen called henbane. Specifically whether it was used by witches, and these guys have some ideas. The only reason I haven't turned it off is the patience of this long-suffering female historian.
She's explaining how just because it is physically possible to apply salve or ointment via broomstick to the vagina, does not mean that people actually did it.
And I think you have to be careful about taking a confession of witchcraft under torture as a factual account of a hallucination rather than a folkloric fabrication.
Bless you, keep quietly and gently fighting the good fight

Carrie 1976
The true horror of Carrie is that deep in our hearts we know that we would have been awful to Carrie. Or at least not intervened.
All the remakes get that part wrong. Carrie is weird, and being the weird kid in a small town is super cooties.
She is not the protagonist and she's not the victim. There is a sense of inevitability as the tragedy plays out. This is what it is to be different in a time and place that values conformity.
This movie reminds me very much of my small town 70s-80s childhood and as such constitutes a war crime. But an enjoyable watch.
Also "fun" - John Travolta beats a pig to death with a sledgehammer.

The Hustle
2019 Anne Hathaway / Rebel Wilson Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake
6/10 enjoyable background noise but didn't hold my attention
Rebel Wilson is a treasure
Dean Norris aka Hank Schrader cameo as a Texan politician
The male lead - Alex Sharp - didn't seem much until the denouement. Fantastic as the skeezy real estate guy
Spent half the movie trying to remember which ep of Midsommer Murders the Butler was in. (S1E3 Death of a Hollow Man)
Fun movie, but I think I prefer the Steve Martin version.  The whole thing feels really stiff and restrained.

Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004)
The dancing is good, the politics are not overtly objectionable, and the Patrick Swayze moments are pure gold
10/10 enjoyable watch
Ah 2004.
It was clearly right at of the Mad Men moment in media. The lead actress looks a fair bit lit Elizabeth Moss, and dad is John Slattery
And Sela Ward is there, I can't even remember what I know her from
SMH at the scene where a teenage girl who just moved from the US and speaks no spanish thinks it should be fine to walk home alone at night in Havana in 1958
Havana falling to Castro at the exact time they're dancing in the contest? It's a dirty dancing sequel. If you order charcuterie you expect some cheese
