My apport to NaruMitsu Week 2024
I'm so excited since this is the first time I participate in something like this aaaa<3
Synopsis:
"Edgeworth carefully made his way up the creaky stairs to the attic, coughing slightly as he disturbed the layers of dust hanging in the air. As he looked around, his eyes fell upon an old, battered cardboard box hidden in the corner. Opening the lid, he was hit with a wave of nostalgia as he spotted Phoenix's familiar handwriting on countless letters."
It kind of unfolds itself, I had to put a bit of angst there just because.

It's actually so funny to me to remember because…
I wasn't a Narumitsu shipper until I explained their lore to them
Note: they all told me they probably wouldn't play the games and requested me to explain the lore with spoilers as they wanted to understand what made me love some fictional lawyers so much. So:
Once I told my friends about the plot and how one Phoenix's main reason of changing his career and going to law school was because he wanted to "save" a friend he hasn't seen since he was 9 and barely met for like- a year, they all agreed that there was NO WAY he did all that just for a friend.
As I kept explaining to them that not only did he do all that, but also didn't stop writing letters to Edgeworth for almost 15 years in hopes to get in contact with him again, and that once he saw that failed, he used the "Well, guess I'll have to apply to you job then. Try evading me now!" Card, to confront him.
They all looked at me and collectively agreed that no normal person would do that.
"I love you guys, but I wouldn't change my major for you"
After explaining Phoenix's other motive (about defending people, and getting inspired from Mia) they still told me that inspiration isn't enough compared to a feeling that's been lingering around him for 15 years. It just helped him make up his mind.
I tried to justify his actions and decisions in hopes to convince them they were just really good friends
And you know, failing afterwards.
I explained to them how Edgeworth defended Phoenix when they were little, I told them about how Phoenix at that age might have felt lonely and how they took away one of his best friends prematurely even without a chance of saying a proper goodbye, leading to this need of getting some kind of closure. And how much a single person can affect your life in just a year or less for the worse or the better.
But it wasn't enough. They kept saying "Open your eyes! They're married!"
But I decided to keep going.
It came Edgeworth's turn
Oh yes, I had to explain his backstory, the DL-6 case, and this…
Tumblr media
That was the last straw for them. They all were convinced there was something between those two. They blatantly decided to ignore my explanation of how Miles referred to his career and decisions as a prosecutor.
"Fine. Don't believe us, just let us see their merch"
I proceeded to show them the plushies, nendoroids, badges, pins, Collabs and…
Tumblr media
"Guys I can explain- it's a collab"
"We're not hearing you out. They're freaking married, those are freaking matching wedding rings".
And when I decided to explain once again. A friend googled the mangas and a scene of Edgeworth staring into the sky while the stars formed a giant Phoenix as he thought of him came up. We found out it was official so…
Since that day, my favourite franchise wasn't the "Oh, the one with the silly fictional lawyers".
It became the "Oh, the one with the dramatic gay lawyers".
And we all started shipping Narumitsu since then as they now send me fanarts, memes or even gift me matching pins of them.
ace attorney fans: what are some of the funniest ways your offline friends have reacted to seeing you play ace attorney?
mine are:
1. my partner at the time shouting "HE'S 23?!?!" and going through all 5 stages of grief upon learning that aa1 miles edgeworth is not, in fact, in his 40s
2. i showed my IRL bestie kristoph gavin and mentioned he was a villain. without skipping a beat they said "well of course he's a villain. he's blonde"

I'm currently playin Ace Attorney and felt the need to make a fic about how some of the characters interacted between themselves before and after the events of "Apollo Justice".
